  1. I keep life simple (and untroubled!)   Semi-autos: GLOCK Revolvers: Smith and Wesson Shotguns: Mossberg   Life has been good!
  2. You have to be very careful. There are more "Fairy Tales" out there than real news. Both of the Organized Crime Mobs (Republicans and Democrats) run a busy rumor and BS mill.
  3. One of the original objections (Hamilton,  et al) to a Bill of Rights was that it could be construed as the limit of rights. It was understood by all that these rights were to be protected rights (protected by the government) to limit laws infringing on people.  The only "GOD given rights" anywhere in the founding documents are the three recognized by the Declaration of Independence; Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. If you try to fit other rights under any of these you end up with the sort of interpretation that I have the right to rape your teenage daughter if it makes me happy! That was never the intention of the founding fathers, to give everybody the right to do whatever they wanted. No "God Given Rights" are mentioned by specifics  anywhere in the Constitution including the  Bill of Rights.   It is a popular exercise these days to state the Constitution allows us to disregard Federal law. The Constitution was not written to strengthen the states, it was written to make a strong federal government, after the Articles of  Confederation experiment (1775-1786) failed. Reading the letters of those present at the beginning (The Federalist Papers and the Anti Federalist Papers, also James Madison's Records of the Convention) further reinforces their intent to make a strong Federal Government through the Constitution.   The rights guaranteed by the Constitution are contractual rights between "The People" (All American Citizens, as a national body) and the Government of the U.S.   Many need to stop "waving" the Constitution and sit down and read it and the historical records about it. Too many politicians , in both parties, have no real desire to follow the Constitution, but warp its words to match their own political agenda.
  4. My experience has been that it is the skinny women are the mean ones. Plump women tend to be easier going and more tolerant.
  5. (Based on raising two boys to adulthood and being  a retired High School teacher)   Ghetto kids do this kind of crap. White boys play football and rape high school girls.   Sorry , but I have bad news for all the of those that believe this is a race thing. It is a matter of age. The average teenage boy is undergoing terrible hormone changes, all of which affect his thinking processes. In some kids it is more pronounced than in others . Many teen-agers , not all, but many, would fall under the DSM diagnosis of Psychotic at any given time. In many cases it is simply a matter of better parents or better peers (social crowd) that keep them from going over the deep end. This is why it is so easy for gangs to recruit members, especially from single parent homes and rough neighborhoods. As adults, especially in highly visible positions such as politics and entertainment are openly using drugs and lying and cheating on a regular basis their are no "good models" to provide balance. Bad kids come out of a bad society, and our society sucks right now!
  6. It will be interesting to see how this plays out against the "Intent to go armed" provision of the law. If the weapon is concealed , there is no justification in itself to search. However, if the weapon is carried openly the "Intent to go armed" still allows the LEO to ask for a permit to ensure that the weapon is being carried legally. It is still against the law to carry a loaded handgun in Tennessee, the permit is a "defense" against prosecution or arrest. The Handgun Permit laws did not give everybody the right to "pack iron" as it only gave permit holders that right. An openly carried weapon could still prompt a stop and search to ensure that the law is being observed. More to this decision than even the court considered.
  7. The Right does not have such a lofty notion. They simply want to discredit Obama so that they can seize power and screw over us just as the Left did. If you are Left, you want a dictator. If you are Right, you want a King ( the true creed of a "Conservative") We need a whole different political philosophy and a group (not a "Party") that can carry it out. Both political parties are enemies of a true Republic. Trading a Socialist for a Fascist won't help the situation.
  8. A talk with my WALMART guy and a local gun dealer has presented a secondary effect of the .22LR hoarding. They are overstocked on .22 rifles now, just can't sell them. Before the madness set in they couldn't keep them in stock, sold as fast as they came in!
  9. I have travelled extensively in both the UK and Australia. The white population of both areas are among the most Xenophobic and racist people I have ever encountered. I am a southern white btw and the hatred of other ethnic groups in the UK and Australia was shocking to me.
  10. Practice was stupid! Gun is safest when it is safely in a holster. However, questioning the Officer is equally stupid. I spent a short period as a patrol officer (Sheriff's Deputy) and I have seen that most patrol officers will take any questioning from the "perp" (yes you are a "perp" or you wouldn't be in this situation) as a challenge and what ensues will be considered argument not discussion. It isn't that LEOs are inherently evil people, however they are many times very paranoid people, mainly due to the conditions of the job. Detectives are in a totally different environment as are Supervisors and they tend to be more conversational and less paranoid. Just do what the Officer says and go home, pissed or not.
  11. Our system of government has not failed. What has failed are the people in the government and those who make a living lying about it in the media (both left and right!). What has failed is the two party system, as George Washington and other founding fathers told us it would.  Most of us are actually are  no more a Republican or a Democrat than we are the man on the moon! We are just American citizens who may or may not share a few principles with either side. We don't gather any reward from either party and we are not part of the party decision process, which actually puts these idiots in office. How can you call it an election when you just vote for somebody the party has decided will go to D.C. ? The two parties currently in power are professional bribe takers and have proven they cannot function at running a  government. There is a need for some sort of party organization to handle the political process in this large a nation, but the present parties need to go, or at least go through some radical changes.
  12. The "Upcoming Race War" ranks right up there with the "10,000 Iranian Terrorists are going to invade New Jersey" gambit. They sell a lot memberships to radical organizations and get votes for rich old white guys in elections. We really have a lot of bigger, and real, problems to worry about than these "bogeymen" in this day and age.
  13. According to this site: http://www.governing.com/gov-data/safety-justice/gun-show-firearms-bankground-checks-state-laws-map.html   Only 16 states actually require a background check for purchase from a private individual at a gun show. Most states do not. I am not making any political statements, just simply setting the record straight: most states do not require the check. Thus it is not a "non-issue" as some have posted. It most certainly going to be a bone of contention in the gun control "wars" for some time to come.
  14. Privatizing all of the government jobs has been on the Conservative agenda from about 1982 on. Now that somebody has done it with some of the jobs  we're upset? We were all for the showdown and government shutdown and now we are upset when the government shuts down.  Either you are for something or you are not, you can't have it both ways. Once we get what we want we either have to live with it or we look and sound like idiots.
  15. This is strange. Not all that long ago Reichfueher Rove was touted as the second coming by almost every neocon on these forums. As a man who had never been elected to office he all but ran this country and everybody in the conservative camp was ecstatic at his success. Karl Rove and his SS/SD PACs  was one of the main reasons I left the Republican Party and became an Independent Conservative. I was chastised and shunned by all of my friends. Now he is the bad guy. A bit fickle don't you think?
  16. In the government of, for the party and by the party, nothing is going to change. Besides, what is all the concern. This money was from taxpayer funds and everybody knows that this money belongs to the government, why should it concern the little people? I am sure that the  quality people in D.C. are getting tired of hearing this crap from little scumbag  working and middle class trash. The little people need to grow up!.
  17. Point to be made: If you want keep something, never ask the Government to protect it!
  18. I agree completely. What we need to do is form a group, collect a lot of money and move to K Street as lobbyists. I will lead the group. Ground rules:   There will be only one religion, my religion. If anybody deviates from this religion, they are to be labeled as Muslim, Communist liberals or Neo-Conservatives Nazis. Convince public that any deviation from this religion will lead to a slippery slide to no religion at all. I’ll buy a whole lot of Senators and Congressmen to vote for my religion to be the state religion.   I am injecting a bit of sarcasm here because this is the way any concerted national effort will end up. The media will seize on it as a political “hot potato” and the politicians will use it as a political tool.   Probable result:   Republicans would vote against it because of Fundamentalist base. Democrats would vote against it because they don’t want religion and state mixed.   Together they would pass a law to banish/ban any and all religion!   This is the American way of solving problems.
  19. The Air Force has considered the Warthog as a  " Red-headed stepchild" for decades now. Pilots that flew them were considered dead end as far as careers were considered. It was a good plane, but the Air Force never really did want it. The Air Force has always considered ground air support as a "dirty, nowhere " mission.  Interception and dogfighting ( Both vital needed)  is their preference. The truth is that the airplane should have given to the Army to begin with but the Air Force couldn't stand the possibility that Army Air Corps pilots, possibly even Warrant Officers (horrors!) would be flying jets.   The budget cuts are not the reason the A-10 is being retired without a replacement. The Air Force doesn't want the plane nor the mission. They have been trying to get rid of the plane for over 10 years now. The budget cuts just gave them  opportunity.
  20. I think that the intention is well meant, but I agree that it is ineffective. I spent 1963-1966 at SE Asia MACV “summer camp” and carried a Winchester 70 in 30-06 with a Unertyl scope. I can state from experience that if somebody wants you dead, a trained aggressor will get past all of your security and will drop you.   After 9-11 several other vets of similar experience and I sat down and worked out at State Guard drill what we felt would be the most devastating scenarios for terrorists in this country. We distilled it down to two that would be the most effective. Scenario A was a public school, preferably an elementary school. (Killing children tends to be more shocking than killing adults). Scenario B was a crowded shopping mall, preferably just before Christmas. In both scenarios we found a way to enter by passing right through security (hidden in plain sight) . I won’t go into detail but in both cases I absolutely guarantee security would admit us. In both cases we were entering with a large load of explosives, enough to kill hundreds if not thousands of innocent people.   If terrorists were to do it in this country I don’t really believe they would do it with troops, they would use explosives. I also strongly feel that there is always a way to get explosives in, even through tight security. The biggest problem with terrorism is that the tactics are highly effective, requiring small, minimal sized teams and can escape detection.   We are spending billions of dollars, through multiple agencies (DHS, FBI, etc.) But we are preparing for an invasion (large groups of enemies) and not for insertion (small groups of enemies) and I am not all that certain you actually can stop a well planned insertion. I believe good local LEA action is more effective than Federal action.   I just don’t believe that there is any kind of Big Government inclusive program that will be effective against terrorists. Having played the game, I am confident I could beat the “Security Experts” and if a big boom was wanted, a big boom would happen.
  21. The Washington Mob (disguised as a Government) strikes again!
  22. TV cop shows have been preparing us for this all along. They give the impression that this is just good police work. After this is installed you can be located and identified anywhere there is video cam (traffic cams, ATMs, etc. The excuse is that this helps them get "Bad Guys" but  they will be determining who the Bad Guys are. (Maybe wrong political affiliation, wrong religion  or wrong color?) I'm for helping the LEAs as much as the next guy, but this is getting into "Big Brother!"
