Eh, here in Athens, just about every day about 7 in the morning, there's either a crowd of guys around the sporting goods counter waiting, or nobody and no ammo... it'd be nice if they'd leave some for me, sheesh.

As a student machinist, I can vouch for this. Dang right! They take our AKs and ARs - we can make new ones!
-
I'd go with a Barrett M82 as well. Sounds good to me.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing reloading classes or something either. Great way to get a hands-on idea of how stuff works.

We do a lot of canning as well. Not as much this year unfortunately, all the rain put the hurt on our 'maters. Did pretty good though. I'm wondering - just how long can home-canned food last? One or two of you seem to mention the stuff lasting longer than store-bought canned goods. Our canning books say to only keep stuff a year. I half-figure that's just propaganda and lies to keep us buying more canning supplies or store canned food, but that's just me!

Perhaps conservatives and pro-gun folk all across the U.S. can become motivated by this. The recent victories we have had shows that we can still win... perhaps even here in Tennessee, if we can all come together, we can change things for the better. Press our voted officials until they're flat as a half-thou feeler gage to give us constitutional carry, exemption from federal laws... whatever we can try to get away with. It's just getting motivated for such a statewide push, and enough free time, that's the hard part... being responsible sure does get in the way of that sometimes! Ho hum. It's great to finally see the antis squirming instead of us.

Indeed. Got down to 52 here - absolutely marvelous. Almost forgot what it's like to work outside without sweating a few gallons...

New York Sheriffs Refuse to Enforce Strict Gun Control
Pat replied to waynesan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I wonder how long it'll be before these sheriffs are removed... for the safety of the people, or the shilren, or whatever malarkey they come up with. Ah well, it's nice to know there are a few decent people left in New Yuck. -
Whoops! I must've read an erroneous post, or misread a correct post, or... something. Thanks for the answer!

Back when I had airsoft guns, I'd do the same thing. A few pap-pa-paps in the hind end of a critter will scare it off. Pretty handy if you don't feel like digging a hole, or don't have the space for a graveyard... Now whether or not it'd keep the critter away... if an animal is hungry enough, it will just keep coming back for your garbage, animal food, garden, etc... worth a try. If it doesn't work, well, time for the .50 BMG?

Well, I don't mean to hijack the thread or anything, but I thought of something today... I've read you can carry on property you own, rent or lease... Well, what about in my case? I'm 19 years old - that by itself may affect something for all I know - and I do live with my parents while I go through school. I don't yet actually own the property, they do, although I do reside here. Would any of that disqualify me from being able to carry a gun with no issue? I thought of this after an encounter with a li'l copperhead while mowing the grass today... strapping on a handgun in the event of some surprise event seems logical to me, man or beast, but I don't want to be unlawful. I would love to go through life smelling of roses, y'know!

A small step. Coupled with what happened in Colorado... we have made a sizeable victory today, my friends.

Well, if it wasn't dark and if I had a tack, I'd grab my calipers and measure a tack. I guess if your rifle, and you, can put consistent shots into a space no greater than the diameter of a tack - whatever it may be, 150 thousandths, 200, what have you - then I suppose that would be a tack-driver in the undisputible sense.

So Hillary Clinton is the new President of the US?
Pat replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
That's what I thought. I'm sure Obama breathed a very liberal sigh of relief when Vlad or Ivan or whichever of them russkies brought this up. Kinda bummed, I always love watching Obama look bad. -
Baaah. Yard work is what what young guys like me are for. May not be fun exactly, but it's gotta be done. Plus, gotta get exercise somehow or another! I'm too young to put off my work on other folks.

Homeschooling is the way to go. I got pulled out of public school after 5th grade and I am so glad. This is the kind of crap that kids get exposed to, what becomes normal to them, through the public school system... it's terrible.

Got this from a friend off facebook BEWARE plastic bottles
Pat replied to ted's topic in General Chat
When punk kids run rampant, this is what happens. I'm glad my parents raised me better than that. I won't pick up bottles or cans or anything anyway without at least a glove - unfortunately, you just never know. It's the most jerkish thing for someone to throw litter right into one's property - this kind of senseless garbage is several steps lower. -
What does an old man do when he drops a heavy watermelon?
Pat replied to Worriedman's topic in General Chat
Genius, really! He probably put a couple squirts of WD40 on too for good measure. Combine the two ultimate fix-alls, y'know... Eh, for what it's worth, I've duct-taped a pair of worn-out shoes before, for actual use and not just humor... ahh, cheapness and ingenuity. Gotta love it! -
Eh, them mid-easterners can choke on their towels for all I care...
-
I hear you there. That's about when we put ours in, though. It's usually around the 17th of March, haha... eh, how long can you keep your spuds before they start to rot? Usually ours are mostly eaten up by mid winter, and by then, there's also some signs of rot, and a lot of putting off eyes and... tentacles. Sorry, Spots, but potatoes are fun to talk about!
-
Good grief, five bushels! That's a healthy crop, I gotta say. We probably got two bushels this year. Of course, we don't have no fancy equipment like you do! Hahaha... Not to pry, but when did you put your spuds in, Spots? Seems a bit late to be harvesting. Ours are usually out by mid June or July.
-
Dang. Feelin' a little underpowered here... all I have is a shovel and gloves! Haha... It's great that you're getting some youngins exposed to it as well. Really great. Gotta ask, about how many spuds did you end up with?

I'm a bit of a fan of Shannon Bream, myself. And Dana Perino, and Megyn Kelly... and Jenna Lee... whew. Fox has 'em all, haha...

Harvard Study Causes Media Blackout On Gun Control
Pat replied to raydog1's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well... I'd say that's pretty sweet. Especially coming from a place like Harvard... but unfortunately, I doubt we'll hear about this outside... well, here. -
Huh, that's pretty neat! I'll stick with my 10/22, but still. Ah, if only it had one of them fancy wood stocks I hear about...
