Yup...you need a .357 If you reload you can cheaply go larger, but it IS nice being able to shoot .38 in both of your guns. There are some VERY nice full size .357s on the market these days.

9 +1 + 4 in the speedfeed stock. Could probably add a 5 shell holder on the side and a sling that holds 8...heck you would then have an entire box of shells on or in the gun at one time. More than enough . Cotton didn't know when the latest ones would arrive, but they will be there soon. A decked out Mossberg 590 for $190 out the door is the deal of the century folks. Don't forget too that the S&W model (6)42 has a $30 rebate. This means that today I bought got a no internal lock S&W Model 42 for $330. Lowest I have seen a non-IL model was $450...and even they were advertising it as a sale price. With handguns...You buy in GA with 7% tax and then transfer it over the line to another ffl for $30. GT's is an AWESOME place to oogle over guns.

Yup...I fully expect that to happen. They did it 2 other times in the same caliber during the past 30 years. History is doomed to repeat itself here also.

The simple fact that Ruger is not pushing this in a single six just astounds me. Now for some cutting edge news... Ruger (got some inside info) Is going to soon produce a .44 Special on a .357 flattop frame. This is going to make a lot of shooters very happy and a lot of custom gunsmiths very sad.

Ever been to Gander Mountain? I can't believe the fools setting the prices there have jobs...feel sorry for the schmucks that work there. But if you really want a $800 Redhawk...they have'em

GT distributers here in Chattanooga has as many as you want for $369. If you then layer the $30 rebate you can have one for under $400 out the door N-I-B. Have sent many, many people there due to great prices and great salespeople. They had Mossberg 590 pump shotguns for $169 earlier this year...Saw one at the last gunshow for $350. If you are/have been in the military you can get a Glock 26 for under $400. Don't waste your time on their website as they have it set up for multi state sales to police officers...If you visit in person the general public can buy from them.

I've shot one too. It did shoot REALLY well, but the build quality wasn't that great. These guns are very simply designed. The charging handle fell off and there was a threaded screw in it's place. I am not sure if I am more surprised that the guy went the bolt section of ace to fix his gun, or that Hi-Point would actually use a threaded hole to secure a charging handle. I believe that there was a pipe clamp on it somewhere holding something on also. But it did shoot really well. Take it for what it is and you will be happy. People compare it sometimes to the Storm...the Storm is in a different universe with respect to fit and finish. Not sure if the difference is worth $400, but the contrast is pretty amazing.

Yes...Thank you mousegunner!

Behold the collective power of the gun bloggers. /Holds pinkey to mouth and belly laughs

I believe that Mossburg made a shotgun in .410 and actually promoted it as a home defense gun. We all see how well that worked for them.

The thing is...I think that when they first put that line on the HCP it WAS terms for exclusion. Pretty scary when they put it that way. There was a case in the midwest US in the mid 90's that clarified that. -

Fallguy The thing is that a mental institution and a hospital treating people for mental problems is not the same thing. They came to the conclusion that benefited our position because of these differences. ========================================= Mental Institution = Moccasin Bend Hospital Treating people for mental illness = Parkridge Valley ========================================= There is a BIG difference between the two. If a woman is raped or has been abused...it is often suggested that she attend a hospital program to promote mental well being. Same thing for troops with PTSD. This happens in a specialized hospital....NOT a mental institution. There is a difference and the State of Tennessee 100% recognizes this difference. That is what the actual response of the people at the TN HCP office stated. The AG opinion this February does not make that really clear...simply because if taken literally opinions #1 and #2 would create a catch-22. Does not make sense that someone could be addicted to alcohol for 30 years and seek treatment and wait 10 years to qualify for HCP and at the same time a rape victim seeking treatment be excluded from a HCP forever!?!? Because of this situation the distinction is made between institution and hospital. Another situation...if you are in a HD shooting you will NEVER want to say "I need to visit the hospital as I have been under a lot of stress" If they want to observe you overnight for PTSD then you will be forever excluded from your HCP? -

Have a member of the family who went voluntarily to Parkridge Valley as a teenager...to cope with the divorce of parents. We had the same questions about this with respect to HCP and actually called the number on the TN.gov HCP site. They consulted with their legal council and came to the conclusion that since the member voluntarily attended the "hospital" that they were not disqualified from a HCP. It took about a week for a response from them, but they were VERY nice. If you are in doubt I suggest you simply give them a call. I am sure they are swamped, but they are obligated to answer your questions. Hope this helps! -
I am sure your wife is pretty upset too! If you don't try to let them know personally...If she is level headed under stress I would have HER (if she would be willing and she agrees that some things should have been done differently) visit the police office and have them fully understand the situation. I have found that people respond much more favorably to angry women than men for some reason...especially in small settings like the Dayton PO. I am very interested to hear their reaction if you try to get one from them...

I agree with rugerman +1. You can NOT go wrong with a Bearcat or Single six.

I was at Highland Hardware in Atlanta during their annual expo earlier this year. There was a guy there who did custom stocks...High dollar stuff. None of his fancy pieces of wood had flames like that. It is really quite stunning.
-
Hope you got some "before" pictures...from what I have seen the difference will be quite dramatic. That stock is unbelievable. The grain pattern tricks your eyes into thinking it is 2 feet deep.
-
I will literally celebrate when this happens!

That is my line too! The same rule that applies to picking up women applies here...ask 100 or so people and at least one will bite. Here is my favorite shooter...Just to stay on topic. Definitely not a safe queen.

CJRogue If you are looking for a MKII the prices have been heading north for a couple of years now. People generally don't like the additional features of the MK III if they can get the previous generation. Good bull barrel MKII was about $250 about 2 years ago...last month before the election crazyness they were running about $300-$350. Now they are $375 or so. Add some for the SS versions.

Get bucket of kerosene, remove plastic parts, pitch gun in bucket. Soak overnight then hang to dry. Easy as pie...not suggested if you shoot plastic guns.

bigsack ------------------- Drop by GT Distributers on Rossville Blvd. They sell to the general public these days. Since many police forces are trading in their shotguns for AR guns....they get a lot of the trade ins. I picked up a Mossberg 590 for $190 OTD earlier this year. They get new stock all the time. Had a regular 500 for $175 a couple of weeks back. If you are in that area you owe it to yourself to drop by there. Closest place that actually stocks the Maverick line is Academy in Nashville. Around $180. They are great guns, but that safety must take 35# to slide to fire position. The tang safety is what is great about the 590/500.

I have shot one a good bit and I love'em. I agree with others saying that they are underpriced and still not well known. The Quinn boys will tell you all you need to know about the regular or cc models.... http://www.gunblast.com/Bersa_Thunder380-2.htm
