  1. Cool...do they have a plinking (bring anything range)? Haven't been, but if it is nicer than the gated, 5 range, $125 per year setup at CRC then I might consider being a member of both. No being a GI joe competition type I never really thought about the Cleveland range being worth the extra drive. But if they have a 1000 yard range (CRC is only 500 yards) or seperate hunting area I would love to try it out.
  2. Sling L-O-V-E the P7! One of these days I will have to splurge a bit on arguably the best CC 9mm ever made. Anyone who hasn't seen/taken one for a spin...you are missing out.
  3. Ruger SP-101 Cor-Bon 125 Grain .357 JHP Practice loads...158 Laser Cast ahead of 13.5 grains of 2400
  4. Get a single stage kit and a set of full length dies to start. Will vary in price from about $90 - $400 depending on brand. Thing to remember is that all are milled to SAMMI spec and will produce ammo of EXACTLY the same quality. Some are just easier than others. Buy primers and powder locally and get everything else from Midway, Graf&Sons, or Brownells. Bullets and brass are CHEAP at Brassmanbrass.com (.223 ball $69 per 1000 shipped cheap) First step is to get a good reloading book and read it front to back then do it again...find someone else locally and have them teach you if at all possible. It is not very difficult to do at all if you have the time and space to do it. Always follow the recipies in the manuals...they are gospel. If you can't tell I am a huge advocate for reloading...to the point I don't really consider people real "shooters" (sorry guys...no excuse if you have the means and don't) unless they reload.
  5. This isn't a supply and demand thing...CheaperThanDirt is simply exploiting the fears of us gun lovers. Shame on them for doing so. Remember how pissed off we all got when some TN gas stations hit $5 for no convincing reason....Same thing here.
  6. Ultradot is the best IMHO without getting into the stupid $$$ markups on G.I Joe dots. Have 2 of them and they are rock solid. Can find them used for $75 or grab one new for $120. ///competition shooters mount them on the slides of 1911s...they can take a lickin and keep on tickin. It is the one on my MKII and 10/22
  7. Holy cow I haven't checked prices lately (haven't purchesed centerfire ammo in many years)...Anyone can handload 1000 .30-06 for about $200. .223 for about $180. Maybe less if ya really shop the deals. Can get the brass in 5 gallon buckets at my local range. The fact that the stuff sells for upwards of $600 per 1000 is simply mind numbing to me. I can understand a little bump, but 200% surcharge is nutso. You can get all the materials and a RCBS Rockchucker kit for that price + have money left over. ...and have better ammo /Not meaning to patronize at all, but holy cow that is quite a premium to pay for someone else to roll it out! That and the time has changed so there will be plenty of time to sit in the garage and crank away.
  8. I have seen those...many people down load them a bit.
  9. 12 Ga H&R Topper Deluxe Shotgun that you can pick up at wal mart for about $150...the synthetic one if you can find one. Here is the one that I am thinking of. CLICK HERE + 1 box of 3 1/2" 00 Buckshot or a really hot Turkey load. CLICK HERE For under $200 you will have something that will detach a retna before you finish a box of shells. For extra "sumptin" cut the heavy barrel to 18.5" for about 5 pounds of fury. /Evil, evil gun that one is!!
  10. That would be the switch for the laser.
  11. Few words can illustrate how happy I am that someone created that site. LCP snobs are really, really annoying...it keeps the trolls busy enough to stop fogging up other sites.
  12. Thanks. It is actually one of the newer (late 80's deluxe sporter) birch stocks that has been refinished with a couple of coats of a dark satin minwax stain & clearcoat. It didn't take long to do and I used folded sandpaper to detail the checkering. I put the old walnut one on my fathers stainless 10/22

    Range Reports

num7striker...Those aren't bad groups at all! The thing that those folks with the one hole pictures aren't telling you is that the majority of their targets weren't that pretty and the pictures were taken of the best ones. Fishermen don't take pictures of anything but the biggest catches...same thing applies here.
  14. I had a 4006 and it was built like a friggin tank! If I didn't hit what I was aiming at I could throw it at the target for the final blow. Very, very well made pistols. Have been eyeing a 4506 for a while now.
  15. Heck...while we are throwing up pics...here is mine. Pre-warning barrel, properly sealed free floating stock, and ultradot 25 sight. No heavy barrel cause I got lucky with this one...Using my 2-7 VX scope I have put 10 rounds in a 1" circle at 75 yards. The red dot is very, very fast to point. If it weren't for safety concerns I am willing to bet one could shoot thrown clay pigeons with it. I am sold on red-dots 100%
  16. Rugerman...for a great trigger all you need is a Volquartsen Hammer for $30. It drops right in and will get you a 2# pull. Next time we shoot I will bring mine.
  17. Wonder how a prosecutor/DA would approach if the owner shot the robber while the gun was sitting on the counter like that? I know that the adrenaline was flowing on both sides, but the "right" person prepared for such an event could have pretty easily filled that robber full of holes if they saw fit.
  18. So the "Summer study" died? I have not heard anything else about it after they deferred it earlier this year.
  19. I know a fair bit about 10/22s and more importantly...how to save money. All you need is a good hammer...nothing more. You could stone it yourself, but the Volquarson and Clark custom ones just drop in and do wonders for the 10/22 About $30....best $30 you can spend for the gun. Trust me on this one.

    .327 Magnum

That round in a SP (heavy) still kicks pretty hard...not like a full house .357 or .38+p out of an titanium cylinder j-frame...but it isn't drastically less ferocious.
  21. Does .45 count :-) .44 special is a great sd cartridge....pressure low enough for small revolvers while still punching a big hole.

    Drool

Just make sure you do NOT Dry fire it without a magazine in the gun...can damage it.
  23. Guilt Free Ejaculation BTW...If they are Rossville Blvd. and they look decent...They are cops.
  24. Congrats on the 10/22...a gun that can just about do everything well. Focus on good shooting and handling skills first. Go to the library and check out a copy of "The Complete Book of Shooting" by Jeff Cooper. At .22 ranges the scopes are somewhat overrated and you will be really surprised how well you can shoot with simple iron sights granted your eyesight is good. I have seen people shoot 2" 100 yard groups with iron sights..! Learning and putting into practice "how" to shoot well is very, very important. /And fun
  25. And it is this way only by popular majority...NOT by constitutional edict. There is a very distinct difference on what "works" and what is "legal" If any elected official in the USA made a public statement like that Aussie they would be swiftly written off (rightly so) as anti-American.
