    ruger lcp

I heard the lady at GT distributors on Rossville Blvd. say that they are getting a couple in, but that was 2 weeks ago. Might be worth giving them a call.
  2. The way I see it. If you are a gun advocate, shooter, hunter, or like to tinker with things...you will have missed out on a lot of good times if you have never owned a 10/22. However readers -beware- of the newer ones as Ruger has decided to replace many the parts with plastic. Just a warning before any of you get your hopes up and rush out to get yourself a new one. Bad call IMHO
  3. If you shoot a lot and do not reload you can take advantage of a decent discount by sending the spent brass back to them. 1 or 2 boxes and you about break even on the postage, but any more than that you will start saving a good bit of money. If you shoot more than say 250 or so a month...you can really save by getting an lee anniversary kit, set of dies, powder and primer for about $150 OTD.If you need the brass I will send you some free of charge to help. In about 30 minutes you can crank out those loads listed above for about $4.00 a box. 38 special is by far the easiest cartridge to reload due to low pressures and astounding array of powder/bullets available. Good luck on the order...hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
  4. Honestly...here is all you "Need" Volquartsen Hammer $30 Green Mountain Barrel $110 Stock of your choosing $20-$150 (It is not hard to modify a standard issue one...free) any decent rimfire scope $30-$120 You can expect easy 1/4" - 1/2" 50 yard groups all day long. Not best of the bunch groups that stupid magazines boast about to make guns sound better than they are...these are real world groups! That is very, very good for a semi-auto rimfire for under $400 out the door. rimfirecentral.com ...it is your friend.
  5. Not sure if it still holds true as there are fewer target revolver competitions, but for a loooong time the 148 DEWC was "the" most accurate revolver bullet made. They wouldn't be great for home defense because they are loaded quite slow (600-700 fps) I can attest that mastercast.net casts and reloads very good bullets and I recommend them highly. I reload and use the 100 grain DEWC under 3.0 grains of bullseye for easy 1 hole groups at 15 yards. They sell loaded ammo also...might want to check them out as the prices are very reasonable and they are a top notch operation. Have shot many, many thousands of their bullets. http://mastercast.net/amo.htm
  6. It has an indoor range too...inside the saferoom!
  7. It is only a matter of time before we see some sort of emotional article about people wild pig hunting with these things. I believe that they are really on to something!!! If it catches on they could make the canisters filled with "flavors" like cajun spice or apples/cinnamon. The additional marinade time would really bring out the flavor of the meat.
  8. Man...I'll bet that some of those are a real handful to shoot. Love'em!!!
  9. Agreed...I have seen more than one simply fall apart at the range. Sights fly off, magazines drop, slides that are so ill fitted that they overshoot their tracks. Not to say that there aren't any that serve their purpose well, but I can't see how they have survived legally as a company for as long as they have. Would I bet my life on one? Heck I wouldn't bet my PB&J on one. Beating a dead horse now...but if someone gave one to me I would probably cut it up.
  10. NRA-ILA They will know someone who can help your friend. The head of the whole operation is actually a representative here in TN
  11. Very interesting gun that is! Wonder what happened to them all...there were a LOT of them made.
  12. Buy all the surplus ammo you can before it starts drying up and going up in price...it is still really cheap now for some reason.
  13. +2 If the guy didn't like the roadblock...the last thing he should have done is try and drive around it. Love how the N.G. guy is chillin' on the other side of the road...just being happy he is not in a 110 degree sandbox.
  14. Funny thing is that he looks like that hand is already in a cast.
  15. Man...that looked good!!! So did that steak! However did anyone else get the impression that the owner of that shop was two breaths away from a heart attack?
  16. Still haven't played with one of those...I believe that I am missing out. Nice looking shooter!
  17. I sent the information back to the Sheriff telling them that they don't have to do anything at all, it doesn't matter if it is approved or not, and if they have any questions they should address them to the BATF. I have called the BATF in Atlanta and they agreed that the Sheriff is in the wrong. We will see how they reply to the letter...which I am pretty sure that they will.
  18. Hal Shaw at the Ammo Dump on Hwy 58 teaches a good class at the Chattanooga Rifle Club Campus. His gun shop isn't something to rave about, but he is a good guy and does everything he can to teach a good class. Also has a reserve police officer helping with the class.
  19. That is another funny thing...I did. My office is literally across the street from the sheriff's office...I could throw a marble on their roof from our outdoor lunch room. They smiled, took the application, and mailed it right back to me. Will get some general consensus for a day or so before I give them another visit.
  20. The thing is they sent the green form back to me as well. Am willing to bet they did nothing but put them back in a letter and send them back...Thus no record of me ever sending them at all. I agree that I will be fine, but I am thinking CYA here. In everyone's opinion should I send it back to them certified mail and keep the receipt? Oh yeah...here is the letter...click it to make bigger. I know that $10 is nothing, but it just ruffles my feathers a bit. Heck...I could buy a gallon of diesel and a pack of gum for that.
  21. I am applying for my C&R to get the Midwayusa discount. What can I say...bullets are expensive these days. Sent the BATF and the local Hamilton County Sheriff (Chattanooga) the forms on Monday. Got the mail today and the Sheriff sent me a nice letter saying that they will not approve my application until I send them $10 to cover the background check and processing fee. I REALLY want to tell them how stupid I think they are, but at the same time diplomatically let them know that I am not "applying" to them at all...just letting them know I am gonna get a C&R FFL. They literally have to take no action as the BATF will be running all the checks that are needed. It even says so in the form I sent them. Has anyone else run into this? I know it really isn't much to complain about, but I think they are incorrectly treating Type 3 and Type 1 FFL applications the same. I guess the question is...should I just shut up and pay them or call the BATF to see what they say. What would you folks do?
  22. Have only seen the Glock 29s in the shops.Haven't shot anything lighter than a 1911 in that caliber. However after shooting a 27 (.40 s&w) a bit...I am guessing that it would be quite a handful. Would strongly suggest shooting a lightweight 10mm before I paid big buck for one. 10mm is no joke as it just touches the bottom end of .41 magnum power...could deer/hog hunt with one no problem. Anyone who thinks it is not much to talk about hasn't shot one.
  23. Life is great...more so if you have been dealt a good set of cards. Looks like you did pretty good.
  24. I have seen people use bound photo albums and just slide the transaction pages between the plastic. From what I can tell on the C&R sites this is 100% legal. Does anyone else do this?

    S&W 6004

I had one for about 10 years. It was the first gun that was designed for the .40S&W and is what basically kicked off the 3rd generation of S&W handguns. They are built like friggin tanks...no kidding they are all stainless steel and really soak up the recoil quite well. The takedown is not unlike a 1911 without a bushing. Very nice defense guns as it can put out a lot of fire very quickly in a controlled manner. I never had a FTF or jamb. I fed it a diet of about 2000 165grain RN bullets ahead of a good charge of HS-6. It wasn't a match gun by any means, but I do believe that it is the perfect "truck" gun. My gun was a police turn in as 90% of them are...as long as it locks up tight and there is no barrel movement you should be good to go. Parts availability is the only problem as midway and brownells has about 50% of the components, but the rest will have to come from S&W...which sucks. The best deal you will find on one is via CDNN Investments for $250-$350 depending on the sight configuration. They ship to any FFL in the country for only $12. Hope this helps...I traded it for a Ruger SP-101 as the 4006 is way to heavy for CC. Otherwise I would have let you shoot mine. Last time i was at GT distributors (on Rossvile Blvd...they sell to the public now...even to folks in TN) they had one for $300 that was in decent shape.
