Only (Peaceful) Way to Win Back Freedom
MCSCOTT replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Personally I have to agree with that quote. Each party pretends to represent the people of the country even though in the end neither really do. They argue back and forth on different issues and bills that come up, which in the end only costs us as taxpayers that much more money and we are now at the point where the outcome is going to be the same either way. It's also gotten to the point where in the elections these days all the people have to choose from is bad or worse, doesn't seem to me that we get to choose from good candidates, or even what could possibly be good candidates anymore. IRS, Fair Tax, either way I don't see any hope of getting things on the right path unless the people can gain back control of our government and what they are blowing all of our tax dollars on. The majority of our tax dollars are either sent to other parts of the world to help rebuild other countries, or on million or billion dollar plans the the people of the country don't want in the first place, or simply for the personal gain of the people in charge. Heck, our tax dollars as we speak are paying a paycheck to people that do nothing but sit around all day and try to find ways of going around our Constitution. At some point soon, WE are going to have to figure out a way to gain control over government spending, whether it be peaceful or other, or I don't think our country as we know it will last much longer. -
What Mike said will go a long way towards your personal safety in situations like the ones in the video. You're better off going to jail and letting the judge sort out the situation at a later date, than to provoke someone who can beat you half to death and or shoot you to death, and (in most cases) the only thing he has to worry about is losing his job over it. Personally I have met several, even worked with several LEO's over the years, and have never really come across any that would behave the way the ones in the video did. I must say though that I could see some of them behaving in such away if they were provoked to their limit.

Only issue with that is that the way your normal everyday American thinks, they would be all for this kinda thing, but would make sure they were prepared for their day of not buying anything. They would just buy what they would need on that day ahead of time, or twice as much the day after, which means the government still gets their tax dollars. Then to top it off, on the side of staying home from work, you've got alot of folks like me that have a salary based pay, so I'm going to get paid for that day whether I'm here or not, and again the government gets their money either way. And to go one even better, if everyone should happen to pull off this 1 day (or even longer) strike, the government would be forced to go up on taxes once everyone got back to work to cover what they lost during this time, and the aftermath would be even worse because these taxes wouldn't go down once the money had been made up. I've thought long and hard on the starving of the government, and at this point I don't really see any good way of doing it without giving up absolutely everything we've worked for.

Maybe not, but at the same time at least this is something positive from individual states taking a stand against Obama. No telling how long the lawsuit will go on, but if the Obama administration were to win a lawsuit such as this it could very well be the dividing point of this nation and we could be looking at the next civil war here in our own country. The structure of our nation is well on the way to being destroyed. Hmmm, there's alot of groups out there right now with that goal in mind. Our soldiers are overseas fighting alot of them as we speak, all while things like this take place here at home.

One of the best posts in the whole thread. And to your last point about charitable giving, I myself am a prime example of that. I feel bad for the people of Haiti and Chile and other countries where natural disasters take place, and was perfectly ready to donate to help anyone that was volunteering to go over to assist them, but since my tax dollars were spent to help them out from the beginning I feel that I've done my part. Our government regulations force more and more jobs out of the country every year, and our government support makes it where more and more people every year don't want to get a job anyway. One of the last incentives in this country to make people want to get a job was health care. With that gone, and the fact that the people that DO work have to be the ones that fund all of this, causes more and more people to find ways to get out of working every day. Once it gets to the point where no one in the country works anymore, where will the government get it's funding? They will simply start taking everything that the people of this country own. It makes it easier to do this when they control the banking, the healthcare, and all other aspects of what the people need. Before you know it you live in a country where the citizens have nothing, and one man and the people he surrounds himself with will be the ones that have it all. A vision of Iraq keeps popping into my head of what this country could very well turn into on the path that it's on now. If that happens in this country, I seriously doubt that there will be any other country strong enough to save us. It may not be in our lifetime, but it's definately the path that we are headed on if something drastic doesn't happen to get things back on the right track.

I couldn't agree more, and this whole health care issue just goes to prove it when I say that the citizens of this country do not have a voice anymore. When everyone can call and send emails to their congressman to let him know they are opposed to a play, only to have him for for it anyway, it shows that they aren't really even trying to hide the corruption anymore. For me it isn't even as much about the health care part of this situation, it's simply about the fact that politicians do not listen to the people anymore. Those that try to listen to the people get bribed in some form or another in order for them to change thier vote, all funded by the working tax payers of this country. Since I have no voice in the manner in which MY money is spent, then I see no reason for me to be forced to pay taxes anymore. I've always been a law abiding citizen, but the things that are going on in government today are going to force me over to a different way of life. All living things have a life expectancy. This country is a living thing, and even though I've always been proud to be an American, I fear the country as we know it has run it's course.

How do I tie up a dog thats houdini reincarnated?
MCSCOTT replied to jonlisha's topic in General Chat
X2 or like GG said keep her inside. A dog that behaves in such a way requires a ton of attention and/or definate training. The correct way to handle it isn't to find a better way to tie it up, it's to get it's behavior under control from the beginning. My last dog taught me alot about all of this, and especially about how much attention some dogs require in order to keep them from getting bored and eating your bathroom and your barn. At the time I wasn't in a position to get her any training, and never could find an enclosure that was capable of containing her, so I gave her away to some people that had plenty of time to spend with her. Sadly in some cases even with proper training certain dogs just require more attention than their owners can give them. -
That's absolutely what we should be doing, and what everyone I know has been doing on the health care issue here lately. However the whole situation goes to prove my point that the people's voice means nothing anymore, as it seems he's already made his choice despite what pretty much everyone that has called him has been raising hell about. His job has either already been secured or he has been offered some kinda payoff for his vote that makes it not matter to him if the people forget this or not. This is what it's all come to in this country, and payoffs and all the other corruption is all funded by us as taxpayers so money is no object to them. At some point the people are going to have to all get together and do more than just fuss to deaf ears.
-
I agree on starving them of their funds, but that's the part where my lack of education comes into play. I could see cutting back on spending, but as far as staying home from work it wouldn't do any good because I would still get paid the same either way. I've also thought about just not paying taxes anymore, but in the majority of jobs these days we don't have that option since they take the taxes out before we even get our paychecks. Politicians are paid by our tax dollars, but they really don't have to think about that because they know we don't have the option of not paying taxes. Since the citizens seem to have no voice anymore as to what our government does, and our tax dollars are being used to pay off the people with the influential votes, then I view taxes these days as absolute robbery.

That's exactly the type of thing that's going on, and alot of people either don't realize it, or just refuse to believe it. As I've said before this isn't something that has just now begun, it's something that has been prepared for many years and now the people running the show have realized it's the right time to really start acting on it. The arrogance in Washington, and complete disregard for the voice of the people in this country is simply outrageous and things are only getting worse. Alot of people are ignorant enough to believe they can just suffer though another 3 years and then simply elect a new president in hopes that that would put things back on the right track. What worries me is that if the people don't get together, and I mean the majority of this entire country, there may not even be a presidential election in 3 years.
-
I believe it would be possible, but the numbers that would have to be involved in that majority would have to be huge, and the sacrifices would be great as well. Very few are willing to take hardly any risk, much less risk jail time or death anymore like our ancestors were willing to do to protect this country as it was founded. The other issue is that a large portion of the majority are highly uneducated and will go along with whatever the government tells them is right and wrong because they think those highly educated politicians know what is best for the country. Politicians realize this, that is why they like to twist things around so that the uneducated majority will vote in their favor.

I agree with your thinking on the issues, and sadly to say I think Americans as a whole do not have the fortitude anymore to stand up and recreate the country to what it was meant to be. I think the government has noticed this trend over the years and used it to put the people of this nation right in the position they want them to be in. My views on political issues may be all wrong, but all I seem to see anymore is a bunch of politicians and people in the media arguing back and forth on issues, without really pay any attention to what the rest of the citizens of this country think or believe. At the same time I see the people of this country getting weaker and weaker because of laws that keep getting passed to protect the weak. Simple things like having to watch what you say around people because you may hurt their feelings, and they may take you to court over it even though the people are suppose to have the right to freedom of speech. I'm all about being nice to people, but protecting people to such an extent only promotes weakness. It lets the one's getting their feelings hurt know that it's ok to be weak, and at the same time it causes the strong people that speak their mind to realize that they're better off just being quiet. Just like you mentioned, there really are no rights anymore, the people have allowed the government and the media to twist the constitution around to where they are only temporary privileges that at any time could be stripped away. What are suppose to be our rights as citizens of this country, like the 2nd amendment for example, are things that this country was founded on. People fought and died so that this country could be set up based on these rights, and in my opinion there should NEVER have to be anyone standing up against the government of this country to defend these rights. Anti gun folks could protest all they wanted because they have the freedom of speech, but we as people in this country should never have to worry about that right being taken away like we do these days. In certain ways I see more and more people trying to stand up, but at the same time there are more and more that are just losing interest because they feel like they do not have a voice against the politicians of this country anymore. I think that the loss of interest is because of not having big enough support on issues that individuals try to stand up against, and the fact that the media is the one that seems to be in control of whether word gets out or not is another deciding factor. For there to be a drastic change, there would have to be a larger portion of the country all taking a stand together, and at the same time they would have to have the media backing and coverage to get noticed by the government, which in most cases the latter never happens. Even with all this going through my mind here lately I find myself dragging my feet as well, kinda in the groggy state as Jack says. I see where things are going, but at this point I as one person wouldn't even know where to start towards making a large enough movement to get things back on track. Sorry for rambling on and writing a book. There's alot more to be said in there as well, but here lately on political issues I'm at the furious point where my points get lost in what I say or type. Or maybe my views are just all completely wrong.

After finally watching it last night I have to kinda agree with you. I thought the show was good but for some reason I was just expecting a little more. To not watch it at this point would be a little harsh though, because it seemed to me like it definately has potential to turn into an addictive show after the first few episodes get the stage set for everyone.

Ooo, this thread just reminded me that I recorded it because I had to miss it Tuesday. I've had so much going on the last couple days that I had forgotten it. I can't wait to get home this evening, and hopefully I will get time to watch it.

has anyone seen this? This pisses me off!
MCSCOTT replied to E4 No More's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I had a half a book written in a reply here because this is the sort of thing that I could not tolerate. Personally if that old lady were any relation to me the LEO's involved would want to quickly leave the state and possibly the country depending on how closely related we were because if that were my mother they had attacked like that they wouldn't make it to the state line. For me firearms are personal insurance. I know that with them I can provide both protection as well as food for my family. This need for them is magnified in times of emergency such as Katrina. In the country that I live, work, and pay taxes in, it is my right to have them. This is a right that will NOT be taken away from me without lives being lost, and I'm aware that my own life in the end will most likely also be lost. I decided a long time ago that there are certain things I'm willing to go to jail and even die for. -
Currently I have a Remington 700 .270. Sometime in the near future I plan on getting something different though, but it will also be a Remington 700 in either .308 or .300 Win Mag. It will also be in stainless with a synthetic stock, because my current one is not and I'm always worried about scratching it up in the thick brush that I have to walk through sometimes. Also the Ruger M77's are really good rifles. I have one of those in a .280 Rem that I love, but have never hunted with. Like mentioned though, it also depends on what your hunting and the type of terrain you're hunting in.

I wish more people in this country would read that quote and understand just how true it is.

I think several people agree with him on several of his principles, but anyone with common sense would know that you don't just go out in search of trouble. I'm all for OC, but when it's obvious that your intent with it is to try to draw attention to yourself in order to file lawsuits, then your HCP should be revoked.

Anybody hear O'Reilly say gun confiscation is OK last night?
MCSCOTT replied to rentalguy1's topic in General Chat
Seems like when an area is in a state of emergency would be when the law abiding citizens would need to be armed the most. Kinda messed up to take away one's ability to protect themselves in a time when criminals come out of the woodwork to loot and kill innocent people who have worked to earn what they have. -
Best I've held as far as just feeling perfect in my hand would be single stack 1911's. My XD45 feels pretty good as well, and I also like the Glock 22 Gen 4's. It's weird though, I've never held a revolver of any kind that really felt right in my hand, yet I am much more accurate with one than any of the semi-autos.

I feel the same way. Luckily for most everyone this guy was obviously not too good at anything. The way the news was just talking he burned his house down with his wife and daughter inside (in an attempt to take them with him kinda), but they made it out ok. They were also just talking like the injuries from the people in the building weren't anything major either when he obviously planned on taking out lots of people. The only thing he managed to do was damage that Lexus. Well, that and he did in fact kill himself and damage the government building as well.

These are all possibilities, and also why every situation should be handled differently. If I'm at my house, I will know that there is a fire long before any police or firefighters do most likely. I'm also not crazy enough to think that the time might come where I do not know about it, but at any rate most firefighters and LEO's that enter a home in these situations enter by making enough noise and identifying themselves that the homeowners know what's going on long before a shot can be fired. If I'm at my g/f's apartment, I know that there is the chance that the maintenance guy may have to come in, but in most cases he would identify himself before just barging in and walking through the apartment. If and when I have kids, the way I handle the situation changes again to where I have to be more aware of where, who, and what made the noise that woke me up. It should definately be noted as you've stated that everyone should identify their target before just blindly opening fire. Most likely if I were to look into situations where a homeowner has shot their spouse, they would end up being cases where the homeowner wasn't really qualified to use the firearm to begin with. I keep mine ready with one in the chamber so that I can quietly determine the situation without giving away my position. Once your position is given away you do not have the option of determining the situation, either they run away only to come back at a better time, or the fight is on before you have the chance to be confident in your position. If someone is the type of person that would run out the door with guns blazing and shoot whatever moves, then IMHO they should think about not even keeping the gun loaded and hope that the sound of them digging for shells would scare off the BG.

That's very surprising to see any form of news paper call out someone as an attention seeker like that, and kinda show their support for normal HCP holders in that way. As with anything attention seekers always give people in their group a bad name, and it's good to see an article pointing out that this type of behavior is NOT the behavior of your typical HCP holder.

Edit: Just looked at everything a little closer and it appears I've stumbled into another pissing contest thread. Where's my popcorn...
