Obama Denies Individual Aid for Storm Relief
MCSCOTT replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well yeah, "state and municipal governments" which could possibly lead to aid for individuals in some form. My honest opinion is kinda harsh in a way, because I would expect those homeowners and small businesses should have insurance to cover most of their losses, so I can't say that I would completely disagree with denying them. The part that "fries my bacon" is that he is quick to give this kinda aid to those in other countries such as during the Haiti disaster. As I've said before, I feel for the people in these situations in other countries, and I'm all for donating time and money to help them out. However, I do not agree with our government forcing us (as taxpayers) to donate, when they do not do the same here in this country. -
Harry Reid: Republican party's filibuster 'anti-American'

Sounds about right where everything else that's going on is concerned. If you don't agree with our current government, you're anti-American, racist, and/or a terrorist. -

Obama Denies Individual Aid for Storm Relief
MCSCOTT replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This kinda thing just blows my mind. He's quick to give aid to other countries when they suffer from natural disasters, but does nothing to help the states in this country in their time of need. -
Oh man!!! I didn't realize they offered anything like this. I'm going to camo everything in my house now.

I keep asking myself the same question. Personally the two I've narrowed my choice down to are the Sig P238 and the Kahr PM9. Most likely I will end up with both of these at some point though even though they're on the higher price end of small handguns. Others are like you mentioned, also check out the Rohrbaugh R9 and I think lots of folks like the Seecamp 380. Basically do alot of looking around at different gun shops so you can get a good feel for the size comparison as well as weight. Fondle each one and see which one feels the best. Also I have no experience with them but you may want to read some of the threads here on the Diamondback because some haven't had much luck with them.

X2 on all of this, and my first thoughts would be questions one and two. I would try a different brand ammo to start with and see if you get the same results. Just looking at the Federal site, they list their .223 as .223 Remington (5.56 x 45mm), so that may be an issue since there is a difference between the two.

From what I can tell it's in better shape than any I've seen so far.

My opinion even after seeing the show is the same as yours. I still stick to my .45 as the first HD choice, with the 12ga as the 2nd. My AR would probably be the last one I would go to.

I saw the same episode, and if I remember correctly they said the .223 they were testing was just the 55gr FMJ, and would still penetrate less than the others. They also mentioned how hollow points going through drywall would fill up through the first wall, and basically be about the same as a FMJ round as far as penetration.

Gun Safe or No Gun Safe???
MCSCOTT replied to RobertNashville's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Currently I don't have a safe, and even though there's pretty much someone watching my house 24/7, and I have a home security system as well, I worry constantly about the fact that my guns are unprotected. I do have a gun cabinet that keeps them locked up from when children are visiting, but it really offers 0 protection against fire or theft. In the past I wasn't too worried because I only had a handful, and all of those could easily be replaced. This is a very irresponsible way of thinking though, because even though I could replace what gets stolen it doesn't change the fact that I would be arming a criminal. Now that I've had several of the family firearms handed down to me, the collection has grown to include several that can NOT be replaced. Currently I'm saving up for a good safe, because I know I will definately need a big one to hold the ones I get in the future as well as the ones I have now. Getting a good quality safe will finally give me peace of mind in knowing my firearms are protected. I often lose sleep at night worrying about whether I could get all of them out of the house if it should ever catch on fire. Once I get one, as far as home defense, I will most likely only keep my handgun out for protection. In most cases this will be all I will ever need, but if not it will at least help protect me until I can get my safe open. If you keep one handgun close to you at all times, then there shouldn't be much of a need to hide other firearms all around the house. -
Where are the animal rights activists when we need em!!!
MCSCOTT replied to leroy's topic in General Chat
That's what I was thinking. Definately a sad situation in which the dog was most likely trying to eliminate what he was trained to see as a threat. On the other end of things the boys were just defending themselves. IMO the officer in charge of the dog is to blame for the incident, and should possibly end up getting some kinda punishment out of it. -
Gossip amongst females is the same thing as making it public to the world, it just might take a few extra days to get around.

Obama musta posted that since he doesn't have the support of the members here....

I'd say definately salted. Be careful though. I did this kinda thing one Saturday before a superbowl party years ago. I ended up missing the whole superbowl because I spent that entire Sunday throwing up every few minutes. Also somehow those crackers mysteriously ended up crumbled up, and spread on the floor from wall to wall in my house. From what I heard I had crumbled them all up in the package, and decided to play quarterback and the crumbled pack of crackers was the ball. The ceiling fan took care of spreading them on the floor for me. Good times.

I agree. I sure have been needing just one more 1911 to choose from, because I had almost narrowed the decision for my first one down to the exact one I wanted.

Yup. Kinda sounds like Fair Tax to me in a way.

Just double counted to make sure, but I've only smoked 6 cigarettes so far today which is 1 or 2 less than I've normally smoked by this time. I'm sure earth and all the people that live on earth are thanking me right now for cutting back so much today.

If he meant to do that then that was a pretty good shot, but I wouldn't think that it was legal. For me personally though I've always been taught to pay attention not only to my target, but what is beyond my target as well.

Kinda what I was meaning in all of my ramblings there. There's no way to ever vote out the bad politicians anymore, as they are all bad. We put them in office, they basically cut our pay by taxing us more and more. Since WE put them in office, when do WE get to have a say in how much they make and how they are allowed to spend OUR money. Like I said, if those 545 had a much smaller paycheck like the average working man, and were also limited on alot of those government perks they get, then the only ones that would want to take these positions would be doing it based on the fact that they only want to help this country. Just my opinion though, as I'm sure all those crooked SOB's would find ways around that as well to benefit themselves and screw the working man.

Exactly. So far this year I would have done just as good with a 20ga as I have with my 12ga. Heck, I would have done just as good with an unloaded BB gun.
-
I don't know if I would call it excited or not, but it's sure going to be interesting to see who the Titans end up with this year. I haven't kept up with it as much as usual, but by my understanding they're basically taking a huge gamble by restructuring the team with cheap players in hopes of getting lucky and finding some that are truely good. Should also make for some really interesting pre-season games this year.
-
Very true, and I think this year especially alot more people are finally starting to realize this. As far as replacing those 545, for that to be done you would have to have the majority of those 300,000,000 on board. The reason this can't happen is because half of those are receiving more and more benefits every year from plans that those 545 put in place, so they are either all for them, or don't care about doing anything since their taxes don't have any effect on them. Out of the 150,000,000 that are left, alot of those are stuck in a situation where they simply can't do anything to stand up, or don't really know where to start. This leaves only a handful of people, and the only thing they can do is have peaceful protests. Since there's such a small amount doing this, the government controlled media can spin things around to make these people look like outcasts, racists, or terrorists. The only option that most of us hope for is at election time, but in the end we're only voting for people who can, and most likely will, screw things up that much worse. Politicians use to care about this country and it's future, and the simple fact is that they are only interested in what's best for them these days. IMO politicians should be some of the least paid people in the country. Take teachers for example. They don't make much money, most do it solely because they love to help children learn. Most local LEO's don't make much either considering they're risking their lives every day for the country, alot of them do it simply because they want to help keep their community safe. Politicians should be no different, cut even the President's pay down to a modest amount, and make it where no one would want the job unless they really only want to help this country. Sure, at that it would probably be hard to find anyone who would want to take the job due to what all is involved, but you could be sure that once you did find someone they would have this country's best interest in mind.
