  1. Even better that buying from aholsters stimulates the local economy. They're right down the road in Greeneville. I should stop in there next time I'm down and see if he's got something for the P3AT. That looks like it doesn't print as much as my Don Hume.
  2. Their Internet business is their main focus all the time, but the shop is mostly just there for the locals who shouldn't have to pay shipping charges when they live two miles down the road from the shop. As a result, yes, the Internet service is superb. Counter service? If you're over the age of 40 or so, you'll be treated fairly well. They've just got their own culture, and my generation is not part of it. Most of the local guys my age who I've talked to will put up with the shoddy service because having the amount of ammo they want shipped from someplace like CTD will cost more than going to Wideners and paying sales tax after waiting in line and getting a couple of dirty looks.
  3. Considering the number of dirty old Colt's that Joe has lying around his shop, I'd listen to the man. $650 for a 90% condition Mustang in stainless is a freaking steal these days. I sold my LNIB blued Mustang three years ago for $550 and haven't stopped kicking myself since.
  4. I buy most of my bulk range ammo from Wideners. It's is a great place to buy ammo, as long as you know exactly what you want, and are willing to wait for them to get through the long line at the counter so you can tell the guys what you came to buy. And you can deal with dirty looks and shabby service if you look under the age of 40. They warm up when you hand them cash for a couple thousand rounds of ammo, but not much. I think they're letting local orders pick up their orders on certain days of the week, but they're only accepting online orders right now due to volume. Something like a 1-2 week delay on shipping.
  5. Unless major changes to my work schedule occur, I'll be driving down from Johnson City on the 28th. I've got three extra seats in my car if anyone wants to carpool down with me.
  6. Alright, strange thing, a friend of mine called tonight with this one. Apparently one of her friends saw a pack of around 10 coyotes in her yard two weeks ago. She lives in a subdivision inside the Knoxville city limits, in the East Town area, with her ~2 year old daughter and a couple of dogs. Since I hunt coyotes from time to time, they asked me how to get rid of the coyotes. Since they're inside the city limits, and in Knoxville, I don't know what to tell them thought. Anyone in the area have some ideas? The homeowner apparently called KPD to ask them what to do, but KPD said they couldn't do anything about it. I asked my friend to check and see if they were even still in the area, since I've personally never heard of a pack of coyotes that large lingering in a built up area very long. But even so, anyone have an idea on how to deal with that many coyotes inside the Knoxville city limits without getting arrested for violating some city ordinance about discharging a firearm at the least?
  7. Just got this in an email from Rep Matthew Hill's office. Maybe everyone should email their rep's and senators and try and get them on board to co-sponsor their respective bills in an effort to speed it up?
  8. Nope. You can't play across platforms. In other zombie related news, Call of Duty: World at War has an awesome zombie mode for co-op play. I kind of gave up L4D until the downloadable content comes out for it later this month and have been playing World at War of late.
  9. I've done that during some IT Training sessions I had to give at a hospital my company does the IT staffing for. It's usually worth a chuckle when the two nurses in the back of the room who were sound asleep not paying attention to your lecture on the new computerized charting system jump up from the sound of a popper going off at their feet.
  10. He's looking for .32 S&W Long rounds, not .32 ACP. Other than the Magtech load at Sportsmans Guide, all the other links above are for .32 ACP, I went through this myself several months ago when I found my mother's old .32 cal H&R revolver in the bottom of my safe after I moved. I couldn't find a JHP load for it that was worth the price, let alone practice ammo I was willing pay for, so I put it back where I found it and it's probably enjoying it's life of quiet retirement and neglect.
  11. I just got off the phone with Matthew Hill about this, I'm impressed with his response times. I emailed him at 1:33 EST this afternoon, and he called me back at 3:17 pm while I was out running errands. He called me back within 10 minutes or so of my response to his call. He said he was supportive of HB0053, and said if it cleared committee, he would definitely vote yes on it. He also said that he was pretty optimistic about the bill getting through the committee and out to the floor of the assembly for a vote.
  12. Just fired off an email to Matthew Hill about HB0053. With Naifeh out of the Speaker's office, maybe we'll actually get something done. Hell, I think I'm even going to email Kent Williams about it and see if he'll speed that bill along.
  13. 300 of FMJ and 100 of the carry ammo I use for that particular caliber.
  14. That Speed Master isn't that big when you get a look at it first hand to be honest, but if you want something smaller, and that has a less aggressive forward cant, you could try this: http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterPG3.asp?ProductID=1081&GunID=171 I'm not the world's biggest fan of paddle holsters, but that seems to fit the bill for what you're after. FWIW, three years ago, when I was a lot skinnier after a major injury and some surgery to correct it, I had a 32" waist and would IWB carry my XD-9 without any issues. Or OWB in the XD version of the second holster I linked above. It was just a matter of what clothes I wore and what I wore for a cover shirt.
  15. Couple options from Galco, I'd shop around some on price for Galco. You can usually find it cheaper at your local gun store, or online from LA Police Gear or some place like that. http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterPG3.asp?ProductID=994&GunID=171 http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterPG3.asp?ProductID=195&GunID=171
  16. Yep. SBR is the plan. I don't even want to think about how much someone would be asking for a registered sear right now.
  17. I find it cool enough to spend the extra money for a special run Spike's Lower. I just placed my order. Now I have a really good excuse to fill out some paperwork, mail it and $200 to the government, and play an annoying waiting game once it arrives.
  18. For Prvi Partisan, it is match ammo. Compared to someplace like Black Hills or even Federal, it's just plinking ammo with a heavier projectile. Unfortunately, it's the only .308 ammo Wideners has in stock right now that I'm aware of.
  19. Radway Green at that price is a better deal than the IMI bulk packs... Especially since it comes on five round stripper clips.
  20. Woot. My favorite kind of beer. Free!
  21. Collegedale is a pretty nice area. My older sister went to undergrad there. Sleepy little town with some truly anal traffic cops. Only time I've ever had to go to court to get a ticket thrown out was when a Collegedale cop wrote me a ticket for doing 46 in a 45. Downhill no less.
  22. Was bored and looking for some inexpensive .308 range ammo, and found this link: http://www.rguns.net/ammo.shtml, and since I know plenty of people who are having trouble finding .308 they can afford, I thought I'd share. Oh, they also had what appeared to be reasonably priced .45ACP too. It's Israeli surplus ammo, but as long as range ammo is brass cased and goes bang reliably, I'm not that picky myself. Never ordered from them before, but I've heard of them. I think I've seen ads for them in Shotgun News or something like that. If someone's ordered from them in the past, maybe some feedback?
  23. I used a shoulder holster under the jacket when I still rode my Ninja on a regular basis. I know some guys who just carry OWB strong side while they ride. Guess it's mostly personal preference.
  24. I'm in IT, and I've been working in PC shops ever since I started in the industry. I use them at home because I'm a video game junkie, with guns being my only other hobby. But I'll say this, the Mac guys are right. If you don't plan on gaming, buy a Mac. Even if you do plan on gaming, you can buy a Mac with a dedicated graphics card anyways and dual boot it to XP Pro 32 bit and be capable of running most current games anyway. Since you live near Knoxville, take a drive up to West Town Mall and go spend an hour or so at the Apple store. You can get a feel for the Mac that way, and most Apple stores offer free classes for those who want to get more out of their Macs.
