  1. Tungsten has a point. Some of us hanging out at Starbucks are metrosexual gun-enthusiasts with an XD-9 under our shirt. And my coffee only costs me $6.
  2. Sample Excuse: (Fill in all blanks before using) "But honey, I wanted a <insert type of weapon> made in <insert country of manufacture> to be able to hand down to <insert name of future child> when <insert gender> is old enough. They might not still make <insert specific weapon name> then if the <insert appropriate vulgarity> <insert name of gun grabbing political party> win next <insert month of next major election>." Disclaimer: Not known to work as an excuse for purchasing EBRs, GLOCKs, 1911s, Semi-Auto Shotguns, any NFA weapons, or anything retailing over $350.
  3. Henry's got a nice little single shot .22LR designed for small kids. 3.25lbs total weight, contrasting color fiber optic sites, and a manual safety. Oh, and it's made in America. http://www.henryrepeating.com/h005_minibolt.cfm
  4. Inquiring minds really want to know, how do you kill an 870?
  5. The Kingsport show is usually worth going to on Saturday if only to window shop. $7 or $8 admission I think is what they charged last time I went.
  6. Sucker bet... I mean would you like to buy insurance on this roll of the dice sir?
  7. I have a feeling that King James will eventually die in office. Then on the third day, he will somehow magically be resurrected to kill half a dozen pieces of pro-gun legislation just to spite everyone.
  8. A family situation has come up. I'm going to have to cancel my plans to be there on Saturday. Have fun without me. Maybe next time I can come out to shoot.
  9. I'm Emoticon Cop , and I approve of this idea.
  10. Just wait till you see the look on some 22 year old, fresh out of college, nurse's face when she pulls up your shirt to listen to your heart/lungs with her stethoscope only to find a holstered handgun in your waistband.
  11. The only place I ever go for the food in Kingsport is Krispy Kreme... And aren't there two Allandale Centers? On opposite ends of Stone Drive or something.
  12. Yeah, what Marswolf said. I just get on I-26 and go to Kingsport. Meeting somewhere for lunch beforehand sounds good to me. I'm with Marswolf, as far away from Bristol as I can manage is a good idea on race weekend.
  13. I need directions to Mark & Sue's place if someone can PM them to me or post them. I can bring my portable gas grill if you guys want. I have all the pieces to it handy. C.A.S., I'll have my XD9 with me if you want to shoot it.
  14. It's race weekend at Bristol guys... Just so people know, the Sharpie Mini 300 is at 14:00 Saturday. Coming up from Knoxville into race traffic won't be fun.
  15. Vote with your feet and move about 200 miles due east. Both problems solved.
  16. Manual Safety + XD = Springfield's entry in whatever competition the Army's running to find a replacement for the M9 this year.
  17. The Maverick has a cross-bolt safety behind the trigger guard. The 500 has the slider safety on the top rear of the receiver. Otherwise, they're pretty similar. The Maverick is the cheap house-brand shotgun from Mossberg. If you want to put toys on it at some point, you want the 500 instead. The Maverick can use M500 barrels, but I don't think it can use stocks and other accessories. Personally, I prefer the 870 Express, but the Mossberg 500 is a good choice as well.
  18. I thought those items were the responsibility of the host...
  19. I also know how to brew beer. I can't say I didn't learn anything my freshman year of college... But that's about the only useful thing I learned that year.
  20. Every hotel room and campsite within 30 miles of BMS has been booked since Thanksgiving. Everything between 30 & 75 has probably been booked since Christmas. And all the crap that's further away, is being booked right now. You could probably still get a furnished condo/house someone's renting out for the weekend in the Johnson City area, but it'll cost you an arm and a leg. I think Heritage or Homestead Properties here in JC are still advertising some of those.
  21. A laser sight and some snap caps. The laser will give her a visual reference to where she's actually aiming when the trigger breaks. I usually use a laser sight on my dad's Sig Mosquito when this kind of thing crops up, rather than my XD though.
  22. It's at least worth an honorable mention...
  23. It looks like a concept gun from a bunch of marketing majors who've been smoking funny cigarettes again.
