  1. My Model 60 was made in 1986, and it does have a last shot hold open, and you can push the bolt in when it's fully retracted to lock it wide open for storage.
  2. I mostly use Mini-Mags... Never had an issue with them for reliability or accuracy. If I'm shooting in bulk... Either Federal or Remington 550 packs from Wal-Mart, whichever is cheaper. Never had much of a problem out of either of those.
  3. Anyone from the area around ETSU want to carpool to Mark's place on Saturday? And is there a group meeting up for lunch beforehand somewhere?
  4. You can still get an OEM copy of XP Pro 64bit for $140 from Newegg -if- you order a major hardware component with it. I.E., order a hard drive, video card, RAM sticks, or similar. Fully legal, semi-cheap, and comes with a valid key. I don't know if anyone is still selling 32bit OEM copies, but the price points were the same. Otherwise, you could see if a student at a nearby university will get you an MSDNAA copy, or an academic copy.
  5. You mean you're not going to post a picture of that AOW you're filing the paperwork on? For shame!
  6. I bought mine last weekend at Hero Gear... It's the only one I've seen in person. It was also the only one he had in stock. If you're in/near Tri-Cities, I'd be happy to let you shoot mine sometime.
  7. This is true. See: http://www.hillaryis404.org/
  8. Ask me again in a week when I've taken it to the TGO meet in Kingsport. Don't have time to take it to the range before then. Well, as long as you weren't doing other things with her I suppose I won't tell your wife about it... But you've been warned! There were two of you trying your hardest to convince me to buy it. You're leaving out the redheaded one with a thing for pink accessories.

    GSG-5

My economic stimulus check at work: I have a new money sewer on my gun rack... I want to turn this one into an SBR and stick a real can on the front end. Hey Joe, do you feel economically stimulated now? *cackle*
  10. Went to Hero Gear... Picked up an EOTech 512 and a GSG-5. (=
  11. EOTech. The money is well worth it. I'm currently debating ordering a second one myself. Mostly because I want one to leave on my M4 and not have to switch it out between the 870 and the M4.
  12. I only wear mine on Empty Holster Protest Days... but I could make an exception this one time...
  13. I can be at the shoot if it's still going to be in Kingsport on the 17th. Would be nice to finally meet some more of the Tri-Cities area shooters.
  14. Every Regal theater I've ever been to has had a Ghostbuster sign like that.
  15. You mean there's a point to an MCDBA other than to pad your resume while you learn Oracle? *boggles* Oracle on RHE is God's gift to DBAs to keep them from going insane dealing with the spawn of Satan... I mean MS SQL.
  16. A pump/slide action like the Taurus Model 62.
  17. PM me if you run into problems. I have way too much recent experience making Vista & XP play nicely together on a home/small business network.
  18. Vista *shudders* requires that kind of system to begin making an attempt at being a functional operating system. I won't upgrade to Vista until it's had it's second service pack, or when Microsoft terminates update support for XP Pro, whichever comes last. Or as some of Rabbi's more cultural clients would put it: XP fo' life dawg!
  19. You're surprised by that after all the time you've spent working in IT?
  20. I usually just put my gun in the valuables pocket of my golf bag. I've considered getting a 45/410 derringer to keep in there in case I run into another copperhead... But that was at the most redneck golf course on the face of creation... I know a few guys who keep a derringer in their pockets for that reason alone. I don't think a hip or IWB holster would be feasible for golf... but pocket carry wouldn't pose too many problems. God may not be able to hit a 1 Iron, but I can.
  21. About the only advice I give people on defensive shotguns is to get a full shoulder stock. Pistol grip and shoulder stock is great, but a shoulder stock is a must. Other than that... sights. A shotgun really needs to have sights on it. Ghost rings work fine for me with shotguns if they have a fairly large rear aperture. Personally... I prefer a red dot or even an EOTech because I almost always shoot with both eyes open. The rest of the toys for shotguns (side-saddles, tac-lights, slings, etc) I consider optional and purely a matter of personal preference to me.
  22. Does Jello even explode like that? I think you'd almost have to freeze it to get the effect... Still, I'd talk it over with Phantom. It's his range. And Jello can be pretty messy to clean up.
  23. What're you trying to accomplish with the jello Cody? Just seeing how your ammo expanded? Or the kind of thing you get by shooting watermelons?
  24. Unfortunately, only ROTC, the Marksmanship Club, and the Marksmanship classes can make use of the range. Granted, $10 or whatever the semester dues are for the club is pretty cheap, but campus regulations on firearms make it a royal pain to take your own weapons to the range. The school owned .22LRs are a lot of fun, but I like to practice with my carry weapon more than I like to play with Anschutz target rifles.
