  1. Well, $50-60 seems to be normal range for that knife, so it's not really a flat out steal or anything. Are they all orange gripped? Amazon is $52.50 no tax free ship. - OS
  2. Not everywhere, with the proper credentials. - OS
  3. Well, fairly recent stainless steel. Made by Böhler-Uddeholm based in Austria, but has production centers around the world. See a lot of comments like: "Bohler N680 Steel - Has .54% carbon. This is another very hard steel that is highly stain resistant, and so is good for salt water applications." Benchmade seems to use it in their salt water line, etc. From maker, including link to review: http://www.bucorp.com/knives.htm In general: https://www.google.com/search?q=n680+steel&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Might be somewhat stubborn to sharpen, dunno, have to read up on it from links. - OS
  4. There hasn't been but one TN senator unseated in my voting lifetime (I'm 64, and it was Ross Bass in 1966), and only a handful in whole history, so don't hold your breath. - OS
  5. You don't think the ComSats owned by US concerns (which is most of them) wouldn't be shut down as easily? Except for gummit access. Doesn't much matter if the rest of the world can communicate, if the rank and file in US can't. No real revolution without phones/texting, email, IM. Shortwave would become da bomb, just like in all the post apocalypse stories. Of course, we wouldn't need communications for anarchy, which The Meltdown would probably be rather than revolution, even with full communications still functioning for a while at least. - OS
  6. I see nothing wrong with 100,000 or so. - OS
  7. TMF has it. Just needs HS or whoever to lean on all the ISPs. They can get a court order is it makes ATT, Comcast, Charter, etc. feel better about immediate caving. Wouldn't be a "switch", but internet access could be 90% zapped in 24 hours as things exist now, IMO. - OS
  8. See this from opencarry. org. Apparently the state does not currently have preemption regarding gun laws. They only mention open carry, but it suggests that other parts are probably in same situation, which would explain the 20 round thing I reckon: "Colorado was once one of our "Gold Star" open carry states. However, Denver filed and won a suit challenging the states excellent preemption law. Consequently, both open carry and unlicensed open car carry in Denver are prohibited. There are reports that other localities are planning to follow suit. Currently, outside of Denver, car carry is unrestricted and localities are almost completely preempted in enforcing firearms restrictions, and must post specific facilities which are off limits to open carry." - OS
  9. Just think what an additional stressor that was to the local LEAs to have to deal with security for His Nibs during this hell week there. - OS
  10. Well, realistically, that's not exactly the way it is, since the popular vote doesn't elect the president. The only question for we Tennesseans is whether the Rep/Dem vote may be close enough this year so that "every vote counts", in fairly real sense. Most say no way -- I wonder. There are a lot more people on various federal doles now than 4 years ago, and most of them vote Dem. That's really the Dems' goal, to get enough folks dependent on the gummit to have an eternal majority vote. If Obama is reelected, I'd say they may well have accomplished that goal, at least until The Big Pain. - OS
  11. Romney's a pragmatist, and he'll try to run the place as a business as much as possible. Sure, his stances have not been the same forever. Reagan was once an uber liberal Hollywood union president, too. Wise people learn and change as they go through life. - OS
  12. Good find, I haven't seen that particular one. Wow, we have many more invasive species than I knew. Real surprises: needlefish and mullet! Knew mullet could live in brackish water, but had no idea either one could live in purely fresh. - OS
  13. I applaud the effort, Caster! Pert quick, too. - OS edit: Here, Piper: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=glock+spring+042
  14. So if no FOX, where do you get your news? - OS
  15. In restaurants (a "bar" has to also be a "restaurant") and hotels. However, there are other types of LBTD businesses where this isn't necessarily required: Clubs Commercial Airlines Commercial Passenger Boat Company Community Theater Convention Center Historic Interpretive Center Historic Mansion House Site Historic Performing Arts Center Hotel Museum Passenger Train Premiere Type Tourist Resort Urban Park Center Zoological Insitution http://www.tn.gov/abc/lbdother.shtml - OS
  16. JFYI, all XDs and XDms have grip safety. - OS
  17. Dang, somebody was a crack shot, aiming at and hitting the guy's hand from a moving car! - OS
  18. Somebody needs to stand up to a Feinstein et al, on these shows are start telling it like it is: that our guns are ultimately intended by the Founders to be able to oust the tyranny of a corrupt government -- that pols just like YOU DIANNE! are creating! - OS
  19. Bonefish. Wasn't clear, I guess. Used to spend a month every winter in Keys just fishing. Mostly just "meat" fishing on ocean side inshore and out to the reef on calm days, but occasional forays into flats and backwater, where I needed local knowledge. I actually lost the first couple of bonefish I ever hooked because I just didn't have enough line/backing on the fly reel. I'm pretty sure there's not another fish pound for pound with a bonefish's speed and strength and stamina -- at least a species that I have caught. I've described them to freshwater fishermen as imagine a 5-7lb bluegill with 5 times its normal stamina to get an approximation of what the same size bonefish is like. Maybe you did find some under-achievers, dunno. The other main sportsfish I've taken on flyrod down there is the tarpon, but never actually landed over about a 12 pounder, though I've had some whoppers on, but they all managed to throw the hook. Giant shad, really, and the only reason you can land such whoppers on light tackle is because unlike a bonefish, they wear themselves out in the air jumping, Which makes it harder to keep a hook in them though. The ultimate light tackle gamefish down there in my opinion is the snook. Elusive, picky, as easily spooked as a bonefish, a real battle and a combo between running and jumping, very strong also. With the additional advantage that they are fine eating! Never caught but a couple of smaller ones, neither 10 lbs, but I think if I Iived down there it would become a real passion to go after them. None of this is to denigrate our fine prehistoric TN gar, however. - OS
  20. Class B Misdemeanor, with $500 fine only, no jail. There is another statute that says HCP will be suspended or revoked also for a violation, but this has not been tested, as we can find no case of a TN resident being convicted so far. - OS
  21. survivalistboards.com may be the biggest. Variable noise to signal ratio depending on forum and topic, but lots of archived equipment and technique stuff, categories for about everything. Buncha download files (see Survival Files at top) - OS
  22. Doesn't license porn either, but I know both when I see 'em. I'm a past master at it, matter of fact. - OS
  23. It's great but I still had to give up after about 5 pages.. - OS
  24. Is the rent the same in Catholic, Anglican, and Protestant sects? - OS
  25. You should use a high tech piece of artillery like I did, though - you'll really wow the instructor: - OS
