  1. I bought an 1860 Army replica with the brass frame about a month ago, and I was finally able to go out and shoot it a little.  I got to put a dozen rounds through it, and I was really pleased, it fired every time I pulled the trigger. I was able to do a 3-4 inch group at 15 yards freehand. And once I was using a full load it was punching the balls straight through a 2x8 pine board.   I shot it using Pyrodex fffg substitute, wonder wads, and factory .454 balls.   Cleaning wasn't hard either. I just broke it down, sprayed, wiped, and reassembled.   Pretty good for a $260(including tax) gun at Sportsmans WH.
  2. I tend to prefer knife blades slightly over carry length, I've never been called on it. I will say that this last knife I did was so hard at the handle that I couldn't scratch it with a drill, and I just used a plumbers torch to heat the pin areas seperately. The handle doesn't have to hold an edge and sometimes its better just to leave it sorta soft. I wonder how the glue will hold up to use. What brand was it?
  3. How is the handle attached, does it have a mechanical connection or just glue? I was also wondering about the EDCness (for lack of a better term) of this knife not because of shape but because of blade length, isn't it over the legal length for public carry?
  4. OC for a purpose, and courteous. Who would have guessed!?
  5. Marbles are good and cheap, $20-25.00
  6. The only loaded firearms in my house are a single shot 12ga way up high, and if I am carrying my 1911, when my wife feels like a person at the door could be trouble she loads her .38 with a speed loader on hand. Usually the rule in our family is if you keep it loaded, it's with you personally.
  7. Train a child up in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.  My 3 and 4 year old sons will not touch my guns unless I specifically tell them too. And they know what a gun will do, and they have a basic understanding of death. When you shoot a living thing its to kill it.   In other words, I have trained them in simple firearms safety.   Sad though.
  8. Its not meant to slide down the spring, the trigger clicks into a notch in the top of the spring. And the grips are finnicy if they aren't slid down just right they will make the trigger stick.   If you take the grips off the gun the trigger will come out through the magwell, look and see if the trigger bar is a good rectangle, if it is dented in or out that might cause sticking.
  9. 1. My old Stevens/Savage Model 67E, 12ga pump. It only holds 4 in the tube and 1 in the chamber but its rock solid reliable and its what I've got.   2. 1911R1 .45acp and I am a good offhand instinct shooter, been practicing anyway.   3. Hand forged 'Camp Knife', 10 inch blade shaving sharp. I also have a Norlund axe I'd probably carry.   I have a bonus, my wife can shoot and I have guns, ammo and knives she can tote as well.
  10. Well if that ain't just like the Federals. Are there other sources confirming the same story?
  11. I am not particularly trusting of the police, but that officer was friendly and polite to the "thug" before the chase. That was one of the stupidest things I have ever seen a person do. (I am refering to the "thug") The cop did good.
  12. I know this is an old thread, but I just bought a new Tokarev. And it has a good trigger but I didn't like how far it sticks out and some other minor things. Plus the gun is worn hard, and I think I'll rebuild it. I ran across your thread. There aren't a lot of people trying to improve these beater guns!
  13. Gunless society.. And here we begin to be oppressed.
  14. I'm glad to see that a few of our LEO are decent, thinking human beings. Far to often that isn't the case.
  15. My first handgun was a Norinco Tokarev in 7.62x25, the first one I bought was a Amadeo Rossi .38 special which I still own.
  16. What kind of copper are you using for rivets? I use mostly #6 ground wire.
  17. I have a problem with TN gun law, it is unconstitutional and as long as the carry permit holders sit up on their high horse and say "I'm special I took a class for that, etc" and resist lawful change, such as new legislation restricting the tn government from restricing us. Nothing will change.   I am glad to see the knife law changed. One small step and all that.
  18.  The dollar continues to depreciate, if I sell a gun today I may not be able to buy the equivelent tomorrow with the same cash. But I can swap for something I value the same. The guns and ammo are worth more than the cash value placed on them.   My 2c.
  19.  I have a Remington 1911 R1 that I have put everything through. I am past 500 rounds and not a jam, fail to feed or fire on this gun. My buddy has a Springfield Armory Champion model 1911, with a match barrel. And while his is more accurate it will not eat hollow points or wad cutters.   Just the build of the gun probably.   ~ Ben
  20.  The north Georgia reloading companies have powder, primers and brass but can't get bullets.
  21. Very interesting, I like the retro colors. And decent timeline. Seems simple and complicated to make.   In some ways less zombies than you'd think, and in some ways kinda shocking how many they've offed.   Ben
