1. We were out shooting a Desert Eagle .50 and when the rounds ejected they came straight back into our forehead and bounced off  our shooting glasses. One guy had one hit his eyebrow and we had a heck of a time stopping the bleeding. It could have just as easily been his eyes.    If you shoot trap or skeet try using purple or rose colored shooting glasses. it makes the orange of the clays stand out and pushes the green foliage (read trees) into the background.  You can usually pick em up for around $10. We sell em for $9 at our club.   As far as yellow colored glasses. I've never seen them work worth a darn 'cept for bullseye shooting and I never saw it help me.   Lp
2. Did you use a flat bar of some sort to sand with? The lettering looks great. I've found that people who polished using just their hand will rub the sharpness out of the lettering. Very nice job.   Lp
3. Im not a fan of stippling but that really came out great. Well done! Lp
4. Sorry about that! :). Whats nice is they both came well equipped. Even the Camp had the original mag.. Whats really amazing is yesterday, everyone at the range wanted to shoot the .38! Thanks, Lp and this one's even checkered. like brand new. no marks! The .44 came with a Ghost ring set and scope mounts and scope. Gotta love it. 5. Gun Show this weekend...I went with this.... And came home with these.... Camp .45 Ruger .44. What's amazing is I traded a .44 for a 788 back in '74. What goes around.... Uberti 1871, open top, .38 Special May they rest comfortably, forever more in my safe...Until I take them out for a walk. :D Lp
6. I thought just about all of them voted on the lame "guns in vehicle at work parking lot" bill. Plan on watching them all claim...look what at we did for you.   Tea Party is probably the way to go if we help push them into office. It really is time for change...And I'm not necessarily a TP guy but I could be.   Lp
7. Looks tactical but does that bipod setup mounted on the barrel effect accuracy?
8. We have a gun show in Germantown (Memphis) this weekend. I'll keep an eye out for Carbines and a coach gun wandering around the floor.   Lp
9. Honestly, it's not me. There is some sort of physics involved here for your eye where if you can make the front sight small enough and get enough light into rear aperture it makes the target and donut pop out at you. Your eye just lines up the donuts, You take up the 1st stage and squeeze the last 4 oz and it's there. I had a 513T that had the target aperture sights and globe front that came with it. I'm here to tell you the sights and target were as blurry as looking down an M1 Garand at 600 yds.   All I can say is the state of the art today means I can still shoot iron sights. All it takes is the compulsary cash offered up to the manufacturing god's.
10. Thanks. It's not really me its the rifles. With the adjustable apertures you can dial down the front sight to match the target and then crank the rear aperture open and closed until the target itself comes in crystal clear. Then it's like shooting with the scope. Changing the rear aperture size determines how much light is let in.  The 1X power adjustable donut also keeps the front sight crystal clear.   What's amazing isit really works for tired old eyes.   Lp
11. Did you try the USPS? They have those boxes they call, "if it fits, it ships" for one price? Both FedEx and UPS have a rural fee because of the increased fuel expense of driving  all over the countryside to deliver it and that includes the rural towns that have things trucked into. Lp
12. The 1st annie is a 1411 (54 action) with a 7020 rear sight with an adjustable aperture and a front 22 mm globe with a 1X adjust donut. The 2nd annie is a 1903 (64 action) with it's original 6834 sight set which includes the front globe sight with inserts. I also use a slip on T-36 to tune the rifle to ammo. I prefer the iron sights. The difference between the 54 & 64 action, in modern annie's is the lock speed is faster on the newer 54's which leads one to believe there is less time from trigger squeeze to ignition to move the barrel off target. Can we say micro seconds?
13. In the '70's Ruger made the single six in .38/.357 and added a 9mm cylinder to the package. You just swapped out the cylinders and shot the 9's. You might give Ruger a call and ask them what the bore size was of those barrels.   Lp
14. And you actually believe no M1 Garands actually caome home from WWII? That every single one of them was assigned an accounted for? What fairy land do you live in? What war were you in? You lose your weapon for any reason or upgrade it from an M1 Carbine to an M1 Garand that was lying there happened every day. My dad drove a jeep and had two garands and an M1 Carbine in the jeep with him at all times. Do you actually think those rifles were all issued to him? Hell, the jeep he was driving was stolen. And these old warhorses were the guys that carried them but ya'll say the gun is worth more than the old GI and what he accomplished over there but he shouldn't ruin a beautiful gun? Who are you to say what he can or cannot do to his property?   Other than arguing for the sake of arguing to see how many people will read this out of interest what real facts do you have to talk about? Self proclaimed experts are only expert in one thing. Telling everyone within listening distance everything about everything. That means about as much as you telling a war vet his rfile looks crap.   You know the old saying if ya got nothing nice to say about something....
15. So what yer saying is after 2million of these rifles were built and given to G.I.'s to go fight for freedom and some poor old sad sack carried that particular rifle from Belgium to Germany for a couple years, then decides to take that beloved piece that saved his life numerous times, home and keep it as his goto deer hunting gun. And when he gets home he takes it to his favorite old smitty and say fix my beauty so I can keep her as a hunting rifle until i die, thats bad?   Just wondering about the definition of collector....   BTW, it was brought home by a WWII G.I. and it weighs a bit over 6 lbs and shoots lights out. If yer looking for a real collectable these guns are getting very very hard to find. Lp
16. Does that mean this is bad? ">http:// ">http://
17. Being a .45 acp owner I'd be hard pressed to say there's anything nice about a glock. :)   Lp
18. ah home from Church....Happy Easter...on to the topic at hand.....   Think "Homeland Security".
