1. Stuff I had ion old metal cans works fine. I still have a couple of cans.   Lp
2. I use H110 in my carbine and W231 for my S&W 8 3/8 revolver. The reason for the difference is the barrel length.  The  H110 will burn almost the full length of the barrel but the pistol powder burn rate is = to 5-6 inches. IMHO you begin  to lose pressure using the pistol powder down the 20 inch length of your lever gun. I run Hornady 240 gr JHP's in the carbine to minimize leading and keep the barrel nice and shiny.  I run LSWC's in the S&W with a medium powder charge designed for accuracy over brute power and end up  having to run a brass mesh lead removing tool down the barrel from time to time as it will lead up. The hotter you get it the more leading you will have in your barrel. Hope this helps. Lp
3. FInd another house? There are alot of them on the market right now.   Lp
4. I shoot against some Henry guys in silhouette matches. They're nice looking guns and seem to hold their own.   Personally I shoot a Marlin M-39A that absolutely loves those Federal 550 Rd bulk boxed bullets. There's a lot to be said for  micro groove barrels. They tend to be more expensive than Henry's but I've never seen a used one that shot real bad.   Ammo is everything. All guns have their personal likes and dislikes when it comes to make.   They all seem to need a bit of work in the action to ensure smooth cycling and a good trigger pull but anyone can do that to  their own rifles without doing much harm. Just ask before filing on trigger sears and such. A general smoothing of the internals  goes a long way.   Plinkin at cans out to 100 yds they all will work. Shooting in matches requires a bit more.   Lp

Cancer

When I got out of the service, over 37 years ago, I was living in Camarillo, Ca which is located on what is called the Oxnard Plain. It is a flat area rich in top soil (16 ft deep?) and a farmers crop paradise. Tomatoes, beans and strawberries are normally grown there.  Point is they supposedly used some sort of gas to kill off the strawberry fields and used crop dusters a few days a week. The area also supposedly had the highest incidence of cancer. My bro-in-law died from pancreatic cancer while living there. He was 51 at the time.    My wife was born and raised there and no one in her family ever had a touch a cancer.  No one in my immediate family has ever died from cancer and I'm over 60.    I've known for those many years if you do live long enough you will eventually die from it.    Lp
6. Wheel guns tend to be very limited in caliber and if you're looking for a purse carry gun then that short lil barrel in say a .38 +P might be  intimidating to a lady that is new to shooting.  Short barrel = big bang, lotsa noise then add a little bit of kick to a small frame...then there's no sight radius so to speak of so she will extend the gun out as far as she can and start working over lousy DA triggers. However, you can get a decent trigger job.   Only short fall of a wheel gun is you could blow one up with a squib. My biggest shock was shooting mil .223 ammo in an colt AR and hearing a pheart iso a bang. I stopped everything, unloaded the gun and ran a rod through it to get the bullet out. Can you believe a military round that didn't have ammo in the cartridge? I never heard of that even while in the Military.   I reload everything and I've run the darn press outa powder so one would get by me every few years. In my semi's I'd hear the pheart but the primer didn't have enough power to cycle the slide. Do that with a revolver and not stop and you will end up with two up the chute. Boom   i've had 30-40 Wheel Guns over the past 40 years or so and I actually carry (when I do carry) a slab sided Colt .45 series 70.   A buddy mine's wife got her HCP and he wanted to give her his M 36 S&W. She ended up buying a Gl    o    ,,,,,,I can't say it...in 9mm and shoots the heck outa it.   Hope this helps some. Lp
7. IMHO the goodyears are loud on the road. The Coopers are quiet on my Ridgeline and are 60K mile tires.
8. I say we shut down the government and not pay all the federal elected officials until then budget is back in balance. They should be the first to be sequestered seeing as how they're the ones who got us here. Let's see if they stay in DC long.   LOL
9. 1911's. Mr. Browning really got it right! No plastic there! Nice steel!   It might be yer first but I bet it's not your last!   Lp
10. Im originally from the Pac NW and we don't hunt to much from tree stands. This is a good thing for me since I'm getting older.    Nice piece you've written.   Lp
11. I'm surprised she can remember her own name.   Lp
12. I dunno about ya'll but most of the guns I buy are work out, rusty ole beaters and most of the guns I sell are gold plated, engraved works of art that are the most accurate firearms know to man. (At least that's how everyone feels at our gun club)   Being the self taught gunsmith that I am you wouldn't believe all the work that goes into them. Now if I can just find a screw driver with one of them crosses on the tip I can get this grip thingy off the pistol I'm currently turning into a piece of art. Hmmm, where'd my dremel tool go?  When I get done with the grip thingy I gotta dremel out the ramp loading thingy and I can't find my rat tail file anywhere.    Free enterprise being what it is = the scalpers found out they can wait at Walmart at 7am and get ammo for normal prices so they can put them online for 2X the price. Or, beater AR's selling for  $2K? How about this a gallon of gas for $5? Whatever someone will pay means those that won't pay that price have to wait until they find someone selling at their price.    Personally, I believe prices are gonna drop like a rock once O'Care begins and more folks are out of work. No one will have any money to buy anything. Prices will match peoples income or they won't sell. Just don't look for instant gratification right now.   Lp
13. Actually EOT will update and/or fix your existing one. I had picked up one from a friend and found out the vertical wasn't working. It also had the 50 yd rubber bullet dot on it. I called EOT and the first thing they asked for was my serial number which I provided. Once they had that they said while I was out of warranty but I can have the whole sight gone over and any and all components could be replaced including which ever red dot I wanted in it. They gave me an RMA(?). Cost (a few years ago) was $158. So two things;   Give them your serial number and they will tell you if its a fake. They will rebuild your sight   Hope this helps Lp
14. I would suggest that since we forgave all debts of every country in the world after WW2 that we forgive ourselves and tell the world we owe them nothing starting Jan 01, 2014. Or should they want to pay the USA back with interest, the debt's they made during WW2, I'd call it even.   If I remember correctly the only country that actually repaid any debts incurred from the war was Finland.   LP
15. Plus......as much as the major countries wanna make?  :D
16. tack driver = 1 hole   tact driver = husband driving wife who's complaining about his driving.   I also mentioned on another post you should be able to shoot flies walking around on the target.   Lp
17. Bartlett, TN here. We have 3-4 every year until the hoard begins heading south then it's a madhouse. I love walking out an standing beside the feeders while they hover in for some snacks. Right now I think the migration is beginning because with our 5 feeder we have 10-12 fighting over the 5 feeder. We've had them for the past 15 years and love them!   Lp
18. I sure do like the top left one! Saweeeeet!   Lp
19. I would set my Savage FV-SR against any .22 under $1k and wouldn't walk away embarrassed. And that's coming from someone who has owned a Kimber, Savage-Anschutz, Ruger 77/22, BRNO, remington 581T, and shot many other models including the CZ's. The Savage stock is stinky and will need to be replaced along with the bottom hardware if you are going to get really serious, but for the low entry price that's doable. For the record the savage as far feeding from the mag is what you would expect from a cheap .22, accuracy though is superb.   My Annie cost me $800, used.   :)   Lp
20. Sorry, I thought we were talking apples and oranges. The question was which of us can come up with what we think is the best .22. I have a crackshot .22 built around 1937 that will kill ole fuzzy tail and only weighs around 3-4 lbs, Iron sights and all. The ALU stock on the 2013 is a position stock. It can be fully adjusted to fit you in offhand or prone. Once you put it on you kind of wear it like a glove until you're done with the match. There are newer prone rifles that are different form the Annie's in that they moved the loading port back a couple of inches. This way you do not have to move anything but your hand to reload a bullet. They are all single shot rifles btw. My trigger is 2 stage and comes it a 5 oz to match my LR target guns triggers. As odd as they look remember, there is no kick from the .22LR so no pain when using one. You get more pain from holding the rifle in your left hand while prone for 20 minutes. I prefer two stage triggers as I can get everything set, pull up first stage, double check no wind changes, hold and it's long gone. Most of the folks I let shoot it usually get the round out before they actually look through the scope, lol I tell them, "don't put yer finger anywhere near that trigger until you want to fire, then go ahead and pull up the first stage." They never get to the first stage. It's always bang! After about the 3 round they start getting used to it. And what's really hilarious is the trigger up to take up the first stage is around a 1/4 inch. It stops at the end of the first stage., It's very distinct...for me :) It doesn't matter what you wanna use for Mr Fuzzy just make sure you find the right bullet that likes your rifle, Those Cz's are nice. We have a couple of guys using them for silhouette. The 40X is the poor mans Annie and they don;t come cheap anymore. You can buy a used Annie for less now. This is a 100 yd target. The hole to the right is at 50 yds. What was under the dime was how many rounds? :) Lp
21. Don't forget lube. You must lube the cases before you stick them in the rock chucker (RC)  to de-prime and size them. Otherwise, you will stick one in the  die and will have to use a puller to get it out.  .223's are much more prone to stick in a die from lack of lube. On the other side of the coin, too much lube can cause dents in the cases.  You tell if your using enough because the case will go up into the die smoothly with no noise. If it's hard and tries to stop your down stroke on the press then you don't have enough on it. If you plan to stay inexpensive for a while then get some lube and rub it on your fingers then roll the case on them. It does;t cost you anything but it is a lil bit slower.   If you stick one you can make a puller for a few bucks...$3 maybe less.   You might also think a bout getting a case gauge. Dillon makes one for each caliber. The cost runs around $25 or so. You stick the case into the gauge and it will show you if the shoulder is not set to the correct depth or the case is too long and needs cutting.    Personally, I'd start with .308 since the case is larger and easier to work with.   There's a lot to learn. I can chat via email if you'd like. I load everything I shoot except .22lr. :)   Lp
22. Anschutz or Walther...They will shoot flies off a target at 50 or 100 yds. Models...anything from a 1411 up to a 2013 with the Annie and  a KK300 for the Walther. Your choice of wood or metal stocks.   Weaver T-36 Scope. You can see the flies at 100 yds. 1/8th MOA click values lets you adjust from the flies tail to his head. You do prefer head shots, right?   Ammo? Tenex or Center X will get the job done.   Range? 200 yds is accurate enough to shoot Mr. Fuzzy Tail   Hope this helps. Lp
23. What's the name of the movie?
24. This is my glock 21 And this is my glock 36 and this is my glock 37 I drove over the 37 with my dump truck by accident. Nary a mark on her. I love my Gah, Gag, gaaaaaaa locks. :D If anyone has any like these that they want to sell, please let me know. I know they don;t cost too much and that's why I love them so. Opps, almost forgot I also have an early model 17. For some reason I can only get 15 rounds into the mag. Go figure, Lp
