Heard several shots this morning but all I've seen was a bobcat and 2 owls. It rained for 30 minutes a while ago but then stopped.

I let a spike walk this afternoon. I wanted the meat, but want to give him a chance to grow some. He gave me 3 excellent shots and I flipped the safety off once but then put it back on. Rain tomorrow, looks like it is expected to hit around 9 or 10 so hopefully they are moving before the storm and I can add to the freezer.

I'm not too sure about that Buds flyer with the hand written prices and notes.... BUT if a couple of those prices are right I may be making a purchase  :) 

Saw 4 deer. And a bobcat. The one doe (I think was a doe) was 150 yards away at 6:15, legal light but I didn't feel comfortable with the shot since was still dark and couldn't clearly determine what it was. Then three does around 8am. Tried to take a shot and got click instead of bang. Using my AR so cleared the mag and chamber then let the bolt fly forward and grab a round. They looked up but didn't bolt at the noise, but at that time were behind branches and no shot. Just ate lunch and heading back out for the afternoon.

I use scent away on my clothes and usually spray doe urine on boots just to help cover any smell, not so much for an attractant. I don't call very often. If I see a deer and trying to get its attention - bring it in range or stop it, I will grunt. Occasionally I will bleat to try and lure something in but it is rare. The one 8 point on my wall is actually due to grunting. I saw the buck 250 yards across the field feeding along the wood line. I grunted, he lifted his head, another grunt and started trotting towards me, a 3rd grunt and he broke into a full run across the field towards me.

My plan is to get a price on coating my current phosphate carrier. I agree that there is not a huge price difference between some standard and NiB carriers, depending on manufacturer. But a blem carrier could be cerakoted and cover the blems while giving a very slick surface that will wipe right off and be about half the cost of a NiB carrier.

Any of you used Cerakote Micro Slick before? Specifically on a bolt carrier (or full BCG)? I found some articles on Google and it sounds like a good coating. Could be much cheaper than buying a quality NiB BCG. I am thinking about getting my phosphate carrier coated, not sure about the bolt yet.

Think about this laying next to an iPhone and how they may print. I saw a picture of it earlier but cannot find it now. This blockish design can easily print like a phone or wallet IMO.

My sister in law put her Christmas tree up last night. Wife wants our up already, I said no way. Earliest I am messing with that is first weekend in December, and that is only for because of the wife and kid.

Saw 9 does and 4 bucks - pretty sure the one buck I saw twice so make it 3 bucks. He went into the one ridge point and came back out 30 minutes later. Didn't have a shot at any of them unfortunately. The one buck seemed to be a monster, he was on the far side of the field (250 yards) and I could see antler without any optics. The other was a good size 7 point and the last buck was a small 6 that I would have let walk anyway. I was hoping something would have kept walking my way but wasn't happening. I broke my buck/doe call this morning pulling it out of my pack so have to go buy another. I think with a working call I could have pulled one in range.

I have mentioned in a couple other posts that I picked up my first Glock a few weeks ago. I dropped the slide off with Amendment 2 Custom Coating and it looks great! Glock 30 Gen 2.5 (no rail) .45acp Lone Wolf chrome extended take down lever Ghost Bullet stainless extended slide lock Stainless pins Burnt Bronze cerakoted slide The night sights are faded and need replaced (they still glow just faded). I am thinking about getting TFO green/yellow or plain fiber optic red/green but not a priority. Used natural light and flash to try and get a good image, the Burnt Bronze looks really good, better than photos I have seen online.

I'm looking for a 1-4x or 1-6x scope for my carbine. Haven't decided what I'm going with yet but the lower magnification fits my needs and still capable of mid range shooting.

Yeah... This must have happened when the stand was really cold/brittle and/or this fell from way up high - I have seen limbs this size hit other stands and just slightly bend them. I looked and could not tell where it came from, the couple of dead limbs I could see where on trees at least 10 feet away. I am glad that it broke and was very obvious - much netter than only cracked and not knowing until I started to climb. This is how it looked, nothing was lying on the stand. The platform was not visibly damaged at all. I am thinking about researching some strap on seats, or looking at welding on a folding seat so I can still use the platform. Going to try and wait until season closes to buy a new climber and hopefully catch a good sale. Luckily we have the 2 ladder stands out there so I can still hunt. I may even take my lock on and hang it on this ridge for rifle season.

What if I pull the Uncle Mikes tag off so you think it is another brand? :) I'm in. This will be my first year.

I'm back in the truck now, waiting on my FIL. I got out on the ridge this morning to a busted up tree stand. So ended up sitting on the ground until a few minutes ago and decided I was finished. A branch fell out of the tree and hit my stand and busted one of the arms in half. Will get a picture up later. I'm looking for another decent climber now... May have to bring my lock on stand out here and go buy a ladder to use for rifle season. I did have a dozen turkeys fly down and feed in front of me. All Jakes and toms, a couple good 8" beards. They came up within 20 yards of me and I got some video with my phone.

Those powders look nothing alike, gross inattention to mix them up. Glad he is ok. And yes I know mistakes can happen to anyone, including me, but mixing those two powders up just blows my mind.

Hate time changes - 4 hours and still a couple more to go working on fixing issues caused by time changing.
