Took some better pics today, adjusted camera settings. Will link when can get to a laptop, probably tomorrow. Put 100 rounds through it at the range. Very happy with accuracy and performance!

I look at them but place no faith in them.

Depends on how fast you were going and exactly where it hit. I have picked up a few I have seen get hit before and it just depends. I went out this morning. Had 5 does come out across the field 260 yards away. Two of them turned and started trotting back into the woods and I didn't want to miss a chance for meat. Was hoping they would have came closer and maybe a chance to drop two of them but did not look like was going to happen. Luckily the bigger doe of the group was standing still so put a 180gr TTSX into her lungs. 5 down and 2 more would be wonderful.

Secret Santa.. show us what you got....

Here is what I got....my Santa worked out a credit with Amendment 2 Custom Coatings and it paid for my rail to be coated. Timing was excellent, I had two items being coated this week and am very thankful for the gift! -
Finally finished!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Sorry for the dark pictures, new phone and need to tweak some of the settings I think. Or get my wife to find her digital camera that she wanted and never uses anymore.... Either way I will try to get some better/clearer pics tomorrow. Picked the rail up from being cerakoted today - if you don't already know Amendment 2 Coatings does FANTASTIC work. Everything is put together, hoping that tomorrow afternoon I will be able to run to the range and put a couple hundred rounds down range. If not tomorrow will be shooting on Sunday. Complete build list: PSA lower White Oak Armament LPK with ALG QMS trigger Phase 5 Hex-2 buffer tube with Sig brace Magpul MIAD grip Magpul FDE trigger guard Phase 5 bolt release Battle Arms Development ambi safety in FDE Seekins FDE mag release Fortis QD end plate Magpul MS3 sling set as single point Anderson upper Stroke Industries FDE dust cover MAS Defense 10.5" barrel - 5.56 1:7 twist .750 low profile gas block Diamondhead VRS-T 10.25" rail MAS Defense charging handle with G3 latch Radical Firearms nitride BCG KAW Valley Precision linear comp in FDE I had a KAK slim can on there but like the KAW Valley comp look better. Magpul XTM handstop installed but also have a FDE AFG2 on the way, not sure which one I will end up using. Moved the Primary Arms red dot and Diamondhead flip up sights over from my carbine to this pistol. Installed a PA 1-4x optic on my carbine.

Glad you fixed it. My Radical Firearms sights would not zero, the front post was not tall enough (they are Magpul clones). I had to get a different sight set.

I have that 1911 and it is extremely accurate. That is a hell of a price for what you get IMO. Oh, not related to Amrscor. DaveTN is correct, part of the Freedom Group.

My secret santa sent me a mesaage telling me about my gift. It is a great gift and the timing was excellent (they may have caught a couple of my posts and knew). No picture yet, maybe in a few days.... -
I used Mobil 28 aviation grease (Geissele triggers) for my barrel/but. I have a bunch of this grease available if anyone needs some.

Just got home from seeing this. Good movie, glad the series is all wrapped up now. The movie felt slow but was good. I wasn't disappointed but did not walk away reallu impressed either. Felt like they continued to do a good job following the story as best as a movie allows.

Picked up my set from HD today. A lot nicer than the HL set I have.

When I bought the 24 gun safe, my wife actually told me to go with a larger safe. I wanted a larger safe, but had the same dilemma as you with where to place it. I did not want it in my garage, too visible from the road and already too much stuff out there. The only other option was in my office, which seemed too visible to guests. The 24 gun was just the right size to fit in my closet where I wanted it. Next house, ideally I have this safe in an accessible to me location like my bedroom closet. And a larger safe in my designated area - basement or spare room depending on what we find. Whatever place we get I plan to move all of my reloading stuff inside as well. My neighbor has two large (48 + gun) safes in his garage. They are both bolted all the way through the concrete floor and weigh about one ton each according to him, fully loaded. He has a couple dehumidifiers running constantly in the garage plus rods and desiccant packs in the safes and no rust issues.
-
Glad you got one you like. I am ready to move to a bigger house and get a bigger safe (actually get a second, larger safe). The one I bought last year that was "going to be large enough for several years" ran out of space in about 6 months :) I can squeeze a couple more rifles in there but a bit tight and have to be mindful to avoid scratches.

I am ordering a pair of these Peltor's. Reviews on Home Depot and Amazon are really good, seem to be rated higher than the HLs. I will try them out when I get a chance and let you know, I only need one pair of electronic muffs as have a few pairs of normal hearing protection and my wife prefers them anyways.

How do these compare to the Howard Leight impact sport set? Looks like they are both rated for 22 decibel reduction. I honestly am not too happy with the HL set I own, they amplify well but do not seem to reduce any shooting noise. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001T7QJ9O/ref=redir_mdp_mobile?pc_redir=T1

I did some reading on this last year when I got my new safe. (Edited, see update below). So your safe, even though heavy, is spread across a larger area and falls under the floor load. What do you mean by floating floor? Just hardwood that is not secured or is there a gap with the floor floating over joists? If over joists you may be able to go under and brace it up. Edit - scratch that first paragraph. Looks like residental is 40psf (pounds per square foot). http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-139375.html

Cheapest place? Find someone who.lives near Sedalia MO and have them pick you up several pounds of factory seconds. I found a guy on a Facebook reloading group a few months ago and bought 20 pounds of .224 bullets.

I wish. But I have to take credit for missing the shot. I didn't pay attention when I loaded up this morning. I had 2 magazines in my pouch, and instead of grabbing the 65gr Sierra Gamekings I grabbed the mag with 64gr Nosler Bonded Solid Base. These bullets shoot high left at 100 yards with my rifle- intended to use them in my carbine when I hunt the ridge line as they shoot dead on with my carbine. I checked after missing the coyote. So I knew to adjust when shot the doe. I have taken 2 deer now with an AR in 5.56. I am not sure that I will take another, plan to switch back to my 30-06 for rest of this season. The AR is fun to shoot and easier to handle in the stand. But both deer I have shot left no blood. Both fell within sight so trailing these two was not a concern. But what if the next one runs? Both bullets expanded well (based on the damage, not recovered) and passed through the animal. But no blood trail. I don't want to take any chances on losing one so plan to finish out the season with the 30-06 and next year will have my 6.8 finished and hunt with it.

The grip on this is a Miad. I have a K2 on my carbine. Thanks for the compliments on the rail. I always liked the look of it so planned to use this rail for a few months. It feels great too, IMO.

ID is 1.35". I knew the DI projector muzzle device would not fit under the rail but doing the math in my head I thought the threads would clear the rail. I got it for half price as part of their sale so no big deal. Ordered a KAK slim flash can and a Kaw Valley linear comp in FDE - both of them are small enough to fit (per listed specs anyways).
