1.
Oh, that was an incorrect assumption on my part... Outdoor shooting would be great with this sight, only thing is for skeet, etc, sighting instead of point shooting may actually slow you down... Plus it will sit higher than you can see with a proper cheek weld. My guess is this was meant for pistols, the relief through the lens has a sweet spot at arms length.
Got ya, I see your point. With my raised comb Magpul stock I wouldn't worry as much about the cheek weld, but I'd say you're right on about it slowing you down on skeet and such. Well, there goes that. I wish it had different mounting options, it might be fun to mount to a range pistol.
2.
Based on my experience just now, dry clearing my house with no lights on, this sight would be a terrible choice on a home-defense weapon... IMHO.
Sorry...I didn't mean to mislead. I don't use my 870 for home defense. It's more birds, clays, and water jugs lol. I've been looking at the micro dots, this just seems like a possible better option
3. Those of you that get them in please share all you can, I'd really be interested in putting this on the 870

AR Novice

Read. Read read read as much as you can. I don't mean that in a negative way, I just mean there is mounds upon mounds of info on the AR platform, even on this site, for someone that wanted to learn. But, to answer your question of where to start I think it's most important that you answer the question of whether you want to build or buy. Right now is a great time to buy an AR and I know about once every couple weeks there will be specials that pop up for a $410ish carbine. Now, that's without any whiz-bang gadgetry, and it's a polymer lower, but you'd have a great place to start and learn the platform. Right now (to me) if you're building an AR it's because you want to, not really for cost effectiveness. I build all of mine because I'm a goober that loves to tinker, but if I were just getting started I'd be snatching up one of those great deals I mentioned and start shooting instead of waiting for parts to come in. If you just want the experience and pride that comes with building one, then by all means I encourage you to do so To your second point: AR's come in two halves; an upper and lower. The upper is the top portion that has your barrel attached and houses your bolt carrier group and charging handle, the lower is the portion that contains your fire control group and is what is considered the actual "firearm". Once you have your complete lower, whether you build or buy it, it's easy to buy an upper assembly that utilizes a different caliber. 300 blackout, for example, can be dropped onto a standard lower and it can utilize the same 223/5.56 magazine. AR's can be built in several different calibers, that's only one example. Whatever you decide to do, if you're really interested in AR's there's a lot of info out there to be read since it's such a popular platform, much more than can be contained in this thread alone.
5. I carry constantly. If I'm outside my house, I'm carrying. At work, I have to restrict my carry to my backpack that stays in my desk due to my activity. Inside my home I don't "carry" on my person but I keep a firearm beside me on the end table.
6. I'll second the Ethridge/Lawrenceburg area. Everything from fresh vegetables, to hand made furniture, to leather craftsman, if they don't do it their neighbor does. Very large community of them, most I've dealt with are very friendly and the work they do can't be beat
7.
Can anyone tell me which round is more lethal ? 45 or .40 or 22lr at point blank? And which would one carry to a no cake for you festival??! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling.
Personally, I think it depends on whether or not you turn the pistol to the side when you fire.
8. I believe the 50bmg to be far superior to 9mm. Bigger holes and all, you know. I don't like to shoot twice
9. If he backs out, I'll take it
10. No, most do not agree with you, just as our forefathers didn't. Any law, written by a liberal (as you state you'd "compromise" on) or otherwise that impedes the right to bear arms of the American people, is unconstitutional. There are no "with a permit" or "with training" words after "The right to keep and bear arms" Yes, by bearing arms, they meant to carry and use. Do I personally wish everyone trained more, including myself, for defensive purposes? Sure I do. Do I think that should be a deciding factor in wether or not they can carry a gun for protection? Absolutely not
11. Yes please
12. I saw that posted on fb. The one lady's willingness to roll over and die is appalling
13. Not gonna lie, I'll tune in
14. Seeing it tonight for the first time on tapatalk. It's in both my "unread" and "participated" lists
15. We have an LCP my wife carries pretty regularly and I carry on occasion. To say it's not my favorite would be an understatement. The wife handles it just fine. I suppose my hands are a little big or something, but the beaver tail absolutely wears my lowest thumb knuckle out. I despise shooting the thing. I guess for what it is it's pretty good, but I won't act like I don't have constant thoughts of selling it
16. Small needle nose pliers, I've never had a problem
17. Meh, based on your review I guess I'll hang on to my entrance fee. I did get a good kick out of "lady with tazer table". Am I the only one that annoys?
18. I might go tomorrow, let me know how it is. If it's all nazi memorabilia and jerky, I'll keep my money

Other hobby

In the winter my hobby is trying to make sure our watercraft will actually start in the spring. In the summer, it's trying to keep them running
20.
The people I see oc are more times than not young people. I got mine in 1997 and normally cc but a lot of times I think if you don't use things they are taken away. I think after the new wears off of people's new HCP then they will CC also. I could be wrong but everybody has a preference. To each his or her own.
My experience has been just the opposite, I never see anyone young OC'ing in my area. Most that I've seen OC'ing here are older gents. A few I've seen with some very nice leather rigs, even though leather isn't my thing. I OC occasionally. No, I don't feel as though I've drawn a target on myself, that's silly, at best.
21. I know this is a little different, but I was a huge fan of my Kahr CM9, didn't really realize it until I stupidly sold it. My wife's LCP is the most uncomfortable handgun I've ever fired. I practice with it because I pocket carry it occasionally, but I despise shooting it. The Kahr feels like a Cadillac in comparison to me. I'll be purchasing another CM9 here very shortly for summer pocket carry.
22. Ordered a little ammo for the heck of it. Thanks for the heads up

AK question
I am a member over on fflonly forum. Several FFL's on there charge extra for orders from Buds. Not because it is anymore trouble to deal with Buds, but because they do not like Buds pricing many of their firearms at close to dealer cost. Buds is hurting the stocking dealers profits and they are trying to get some of that money back.
I can see this being true. I had a similar conversation with my FFL that happens to be a pretty good friend. He didn't exactly say those words, but he didn't exactly have the warm and fuzzies for them (Bud's) either. But, knowing I have bought from them several times and he always does the transfer, he wouldn't say anything negative about them
24.
I heard that if you rub two guns together they will make a third one
Is there magic words like "there's no place like home"? Not that I'd try it or anything... *quietly tiptoes toward safe*
25. For the record, I don't disagree with asking a customer not to do anything that might damage merchandise. But...if anyone (gun store, or elsewhere) indicates that they would draw on me for the things indicated in this thread, I have a big problem with them
