I needed a part a few weeks back and tried to call Jeff. Found out he was off on Mondays. I do not no if this has changed but it wasn't that long ago. But you can call and find out.

Depends on the bullet...try a Nosler Ballistic Tip, it will take the offside shoulder off or turn the insides to Jello. Much too destructive for my tastes on deer . Very accurate and good varmint bullet though:up:.

Probably not, with the advent of so many other low priced bolt and semiauto rifles my vote would go to the 06. But, I bet the 30-30 is still right there at the top with it.

As far as magazines try http://www.ombexpress.com/c_208/p_GA078+G38+New+08.aspx They sometimes have a good supply. For 40sw just use your G31 mags. I use a Lone Wolf 9MM conversion barrel in my G27 and all I change is the barrel. So far no failures of any kind. It is a little weak with my light lead bullet loads but it is quite brisk with my JHP loads. Lone Wolf has the standard 9MM conversion barrel in stock for 99.95 http://www.lonewolfdist.com/Detail.aspx?PROD=4275

I am taking a mission trip to India in March. My question is, would it be proper, and if so in what forum, to place a post to give those that would want to contribute to this effort and opportunity. I realize this may fall under soliciting but I do not plan to ask for anything, just say if you want to here is how you can participate in the trip. Thanks for your time and the effort you put in TGO. Brett

Did you try Chattanooga Shooters Supply...aka Natchez?

You can always go faster but not slower. PC3200 is faster than PC2700 so it should be fine.

Check some of the big sporting good stores. Savage, Winchester, remington, etc, all had some package deals for Bass Pro, Dicks, Academy, etc, now that hunting season is over and everything is slow, make an offer. The other idea is wait until the next gunshow. I have bought this year, rifles in 7 mag and 06 as low as 240 and 300 from those desperate to sell and I suspect that there will be a lot more since the economy is still slow and hunting season is over.

You Beretta fans better buy them up, as soon as the firearms community hears there may be a disruption of Beretta's on the market everyone will raise there prices by hundreds of dollars.

I bought the 28 gun Stack-On at Dicks. It was on sale for $599 but they didn't have any so I waited until they did, they honored the price. Seems sales are slow. As to the safe, I like it. It is large and heavy, is supposed to be water proof. OOps, did't see your weight requirement....never mind!

Glock 36 Slimline .45 for cc ...any opinions???
glockster157 replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I have had both and I would take my 27 any day. For size and thickness it wasn't that much smaller and the standard mag holds 9 verses 6. With a Glock 23 mag and a A&G extender it will hold 13. It was controllable but I still like my 27 better but to hedge my bets I recently picked up a Glock 30 with is just a little bigger than a G23 but hold 10 rounds of 45acp. -
Elongated holes in a paper target is caused by a bullet yawing in flight. Sometimes they will even start tumbling and this is when you see the keyhole type of bullet strikes on paper. The cause for a bullet losing stability and starting to tumble end over end is usually one of the following. 1. Not enough twist for the bullet being used. Such as, shooting a real long .224 bullet like a 77-90 grainer in a barrel with a 1-12" twist. The bullet will start tumbling within a 100 yards. A long 55 boattail in a 1-12 is what caused the M16 rep for tumbling bullets. It is actually bullet length not weight that causes the problem so boattails or solid copper, bullets w/o lead, will be longer and need more twist to be stable. 2. Bad crown. It would have to be pretty bad though to make one tumble. Usually just bad groups. 3. Damaged bullet base, if you are a reloader you don't have to worry too much about the nose, but pay close attention to the base. Of course the higher pressure, smaller, faster rounsd have more effect than the bigger slower bullets but it will be a group killer no matter like above. 4. Bullet slipping the rifling or being undersized. If it is too small it may not be engaging the rifling or if the rifling is filled with lead, then you have a musket. Long thin bullets will tumble immediately upon leaving the barrel. I am sure there are other things but it is getting late and I cannot think of any right now.

Obama calls for new Declaration of Independence
glockster157 replied to Mark@Sea's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As i have heard it said "just because your paranoid doesn't mean that someone is not out to get you". In this case his lordship, the mighty one, Obama the most merciful and magnificient, glory be his name, is the one that scares me. You drink the Kool aide, I am keeping both eyes wide open. Don't get me wrong, I am actually hoping for the best. I hope and pray that all that election rhetoric was just that and now Obama is going to run to the center and be the next Lincoln or somebody. That would be great. I am just not counting on it. -
Trouble with a Mauser bolt
glockster157 replied to 56FordGuy's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Sound like you may have left it one turn short....if that is possible. take the pressure off the firing pin and see if the bolt will turn on one more rotation. -
Obama calls for new Declaration of Independence
glockster157 replied to Mark@Sea's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
"Socialism?"...give me a break--look it up in the dictionary sometime. Look up "plutocracy" and "fascism" while you're at it and you'll see haunting similarities to the last 8 years. No mention of the trashing of the 4th amendment and habeus corpus courtesy of Bushco? Those are things you should have been worried about...gross violations of the constitution. Where's the outrage over that? Cool that you're so prescient as to know Obama's not going to keep any of his promises. You do palm readings too? so⋅cial⋅ism /ˈsoʊʃəˌlɪzəm/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [soh-shuh-liz-uhm] –noun 1. a theory or system of social organization that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, of capital, land, etc., in the community as a whole. 2. procedure or practice in accordance with this theory. 3. (in Marxist theory) the stage following capitalism in the transition of a society to communism, characterized by the imperfect implementation of collectivist principles. plu⋅toc⋅ra⋅cy /pluˈtɒkrəsi/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [ploo-tok-ruh-see]–noun, plural -cies. 1. the rule or power of wealth or of the wealthy. 2. a government or state in which the wealthy class rules. 3. a class or group ruling, or exercising power or influence, by virtue of its wealth. fas⋅cism /ˈfæʃɪzəm/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [fash-iz-uhm]–noun 1. (sometimes initial capital letter) a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism. 2. (sometimes initial capital letter) the philosophy, principles, or methods of fascism. 3. (initial capital letter) a fascist movement, esp. the one established by Mussolini in Italy 1922–43. The way I read these definitions, it appears to me anyways, that we have a lot to worry about. Obama has even called for a National Defense Force equal to the US military which he never explained...and I heard it with my own ears, it is not out of context or a misunderstanding. So we have a guy that speaks of the collective, the welfare of the many over the few, the need for a New America that is completely different, he is, IMO, allowing himself to be worship in a way similar to some former dictators. I agree, he is to smart to take us on head on. He will first change the process and the principles so that he will give himself not only the right, but he will make it a necessity to have complete control for the sake of the country...as you see, the messiah knows best. -
Any good local source for 22 target ammo?
glockster157 replied to glockster157's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I will check with Larry out there in Mt Juliet on the Wolf Match, how much you guys been paying a Brick? Musicman, you need to try some nice bolt action 22's, Anschutz, Sako, BRNO/CZ, little bitty 25 yard groups are the norm with the right ammo. Holler at me and we will go out the the Davidson County Sportsmans Club and shoot some of these bolts I have been collecting. -
For Taurus the porting and the vent rib is standard. The Raging Bull model has the third lock on the yoke which makes it stronger plus it is a larger frame. One thing I also like about the Model 44, besides the price, is it is also available in a 8 shot 357 model in the 608 model. It is also ported and has the vent rib. One day I am going to run across a used 6 or 8" model and snap it up. One other Taurus model I would like to try is they have a Titanium 4" 44 mag on the Raging Bull frame. Large but light it would be a great woods gun for hiking.

Any good local source for 22 target ammo?
glockster157 replied to glockster157's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I checked Champions Choice.....man has real target ammo gone up since I bought some. I need to drive down and see what they have on the shelf. A friend of mine who does a lot of bench rest type shooting with his 22's has a big variety of the pricey stuff. He is going to let me shoot some different match/target ammo to see what my guns like so I can buy up on certain types. I got lucky on my CZ452 in 22mag. I bought some Fiochi HP at the gunshow back in Sept. and it shot 1 raged hole at 50 yards. I went to the next show and he had 6 more boxes with that same lot # so I bought it all. I will buy some cheap stuff too but it is good to have some you know you can consistently drive tacks with if you need it to. -
Just keep your eyes peeled for a Glock 31 barrel they will show up. I had a 22 Kadet slide for a CZ 75 one time. I love my 22 rifles(up to 5 now) but for some reason I get bored with 22 handguns super quick....just me i guess. Never could hang onto Ruger's, High Standards either. I would suggest investing in a small reloading outfit from Lee and roll some cheap lead bullet 9mm loads for a cut rifled 9mm conversion barrel. Cost would be similiar but performance and future growth(plus cost savings on centerfire ammo) is greatly increased. What I do.

I think it is a fairly good deal. It wouldn't surprise me if they don't gain some collector value one day. Well, maybe one day. But the first Gen guns already have a kinda cult following by some. Anyways, there were some recalls on those first Gen guns,so you should probably check with Glock to make sure there are no needed safety updates on that SN series and other than that, it is a Glock, so I am sure it will function and shoot just fine. Congrats.

Tom, if you are from Elizabethton and want to do something political, start a recall drive(proper or not) on Kent Williams, now that is something I would like to here about. I have heard that this is not possible under TN law, I don't know, but you put enough signatures together I am sure you could have a great impact on the man. Oh, and organize that boycott on his business while while you are at it.

I am now up to 5 22's and my ancient supplies of Eley is about gone. I am scared to ask what new prices are as I have not purchased in a while. Any good source, locally, for good target ammo? Is there Hazmat fee's on 22 ammo?
