  1. Take it to Sam at Ashbrauners Pawn shop located just up the street from Sheriff's office and jail. He is a great gun smith and he can help you out and doesn't charge much..................jmho
  2. Yep, that article sums it up pretty damn good.......................  Thanks for posting it.
  3. He did this in Connecticut of all places. One of the most gun regulated and restricted states in the country.......................... :stunned: :stunned:
  4. ok, Just spoke with my friend up in Illinois that has the FFL3 license and I was wrong about the Federal License. He was advised by someone in the FFL Division back when he first received his license to get in touch with the Will County Sheriff and see about getting a swore Will County Sheriff's Deputy Commission that would authorize him to carry. He did so and the Sheriff did in fact issue it for him and swore him in as a Deputy Sheriff of Will County and because over the past 40 years there has only been 6 elections with 4 sheriff's getting re-elected. Every time a new Sheriff is elected they swear him in again.   I also think it does not hurt that about 90% of the Will County Sheriff's office and deputy's do business at his store and all get a Law Enforcement Discount and all get free range time. I guess it's not what you know but who you know in his case.   In 1980 he purchased the home next to his and had it torn down and added a new indoor shooting range which I was not aware till I just spoke with him along with he also has to professional gunsmiths on site during store hours. Last time I spoke with him he didn't mention any of the new stuff. Hope that explains why he can carry. He actually has a badge and ID he can hooked on his belt when ever he open carries which he only does while in his store most of the time.....................
  5. Yep, bring a stick to a gun fight.....................
  6. He cannot arm the recruiters but he can arm the National Guard but refuses to do it because the state has to pay the bill to have National Guard activated and money means more than lives to the piece of Slim. Besides that why pay for something when your getting it in most areas for free???????....................jmho
  7. I don't know that much about them but I will get in touch with my buddy and ask him about them. I think you must be an FFL dealer to get one but not sure but will find out all I can from him..................................
  8. I think the Supreme Court decided that for the State Of Illinois so I really don't think you will have any issues but I would do what ever I felt comfortable doing...............jmho
  9. A guy walked into a crowded bar, waving his 1911 Colt pistol and yelled,   "I have a .45 Colt with an eight shot magazine, and I want to know who's been screwing my wife?"    A voice from the back of the room called out...    "You'll need more ammo!"
  10. I would be proud of him also and actually I am proud of him for his dedication to protecting our country. I will say a prayer for him each night that he returns home safely.......................... :usa: :usa:
  11. back when I was in and sent to Nam I was issues an M16 and a 1911 Colt 45 that I carried in a shoulder holster because I wanted it high enough that if we had to enter any swamps or Rice patty fields I did not want it going under water. I was given the 45 and 5 extra magazines for it. It came in handy several times during fire fights that lasted any length of time at all................
  12. It's a shame when our Troops must hide behind sand bags in our Recruiting Stations in our own Country rather than be able to defend themselves by being armed. I admit sand bags was a good idea and yes it will save lives but even at that a soldier must unlock the front door to let someone in while unarmed. I sincerely hope our Congress acts soon and arms our troops while on American soil. After all, we are at war and the war has come to America..................jmho
  13. I have a close life long friend that still lives up there and many years ago as we were growing up hunting and fishing as kids he said one day he would like to own a gun shop. When he came back from Nam in 73 that is exactly what he did. He bought a house for him and his new bride(childhood sweetheart) and built a building on his land beside his house big enough to meet Federal qualifications to be a Gun Shop and shortly before completing his building he received his FFL3 Firearms License. Since than he has had his gun shop and grand opening was in 1976 and he said he has been open since them but it has been HELL for him. The Illinois State Government has tried several times to close him down and failed because he meets and exceeds all Federal regulations and the Feds just tell the Illinois Government to take a hike as he complies with all of their requirements to remain in business. When the State would not even issue him a carry permit with an FFL3 license the feds issued him a Federal Carry Permit since he was a Veteran and wanted to be able to protect himself in his business. They even tried to arrest him for being armed outside his shop and the Feds stepped in and told Illinois to butt out. Since the SCOTUS handed down their rulings about Illinois Laws they have quit harassing him completely.
  14. I have heard the story 3 times on channel 5 local news and not once did they say the pastor shot back and they say his wife was assaulted. In the very first news report it said that the pastor did shoot back and nothing about it since so I wonder now if he did or didn't shoot back. I sincerely hope he did and actually did hit the suspect but my guess is he did and the news wants to cover up the fact because the Pastors shooting back probably save their lives and news never wants to admit a good guys gun may have prevented a murder.......................jmho
  15. I thought it strange also when I learned the age of this last shooter. But then I guess anyone can be crazy at any age.  I have quit trying to figure out all the craziness going on in this world today. I just know and agree with a couple other folks here that have said, unless I have to pass through a metal detector I'm gonna be armed. If I would have been in that theater when that last guy began his shooting rampage there would have been two guns in that theater. His and Mine and Mine would have been returning hot lead back in his direction. I'm sure he would have been as easy target since everyone around him would have been on the floor and he would be the only one standing.  Everyday I become more and more of a Sheep Dog and less and less a Sheep. I have not been to a movie theater in years and have no plans about going any time soon but even back years ago when I would go with a few family members or friends I always sat in an isle seat and never in the middle of the crowd................jmho
  16. I think ya'll are talking about Willowflies and not dragonflies. They are everywhere that has water anywhere nearby. They actually come every year but as the water in many areas have became cleaner it has caused an increase in the amount of Williowflies in many areas also. Every state along the Mississippi River said that are having record amounts of them this year from Minnesota to Mississippi. We are also having an abundent crop of Cicada's this year in many areas. Who ever said the fish are happy hit it on the head. Fish love Willowflies and Cicada's...............................
  17. I have owned an LCP and S&W Body Guard w/ Lazer both in 380 and I would much rather carry the LCP for pocket gun. Very dependable gun. Took it and Body Guard to the range and shot both and even though both performed great I would still choose the LCP for pocket carry............jmho
  18. My Grandson did 1 tour in Afghanistan and 2 tours in Iraq while in the Rangers and he was issued an M9 and I think an M4 all the time he was in country.
  19. After what took place last week I really don't see anyone complaining about long guns, short guns or any guns so far, but I do know that a lot of people are thanking those volunteers for their actions as they walk past them in these malls............jmho
  20. I was married to my 1st wife for almost 19 years and never once was unfaithful to her. She knew she didn't have much of a defense to put up so she didn't even hire a lawyer to represent her. She knew she had made her decision and did what she did but her new boyfriend was not expecting to get tagged. Neither of them new about the old laws and my attorney went out of his way to try and find something to punish him for since she was walking out on a man that had never been unfaithful and a child that was terminally ill from his auto accident and in a coma and a younger child still in school.  All of this was made available to the judge during the proceedings which I think may have influenced her decision to prosecute in my favor to the max. My oldest boy has passed on for many years now and my youngest son has not spoke to his mother in many years. I ask him every time I see him if he has spoken with his mother and he said he has nothing to say to her. I told him that he should reach out to her as she is his mother. I told him I have no bad feelings towards her and her health is not good as friends of mine that have bumped into her say she looks terrible but he said he had much more respect for my second wife than he did his own mother. He said Margie ( 2nd wife) was more of a mother to him than his birth mother was and he loved her more than his own mother. I will leave it at that....................

We have a Shipley's in Gallatin also but our Walmart has some killer Cinnamon Swirls and Fresh donuts every morning.
  22. From what I have been told the question was put before several Governors and state Attorney Generals and their replies where that until they begin receiving complaints from the public that they will not interfere with citizens that choose to protect and defend our Country's Protectors until action is taken and the Federal level to arm our military personnel at all military installations from recruiter offices right up to our military bases across the country......................... :usa: :usa:
  23. Yep, adultery is hard to get a divorce on alone but in my divorce I didn't just go after wife for that. I had her on desertion of me and my two sons and I even got the guy she left me for charged with Alienation of Affection which is an old old law that is still on the books in Tennessee and he was fined $2,500.00 in my divorce decree when I was given everything I ask for including child support and full custody of both my sons. She got her clothes and her car. That was it...............
  24.                     " I was advised not to wear my uniform in public when I returned from Vietnam, back in the 60's"     I was told this also. When I stepped off the plane at the airport I was proudly wearing my Dress Blues and yea they had to be dry cleaned after I got home from all the spit and tomatoes and many other things I was hit with but I never once lowered my head. I served with pride and dignity and was not about to let the cowardly draft dodges take that from me................... :usa:
  25. I added a link for folks that want to read it.
