For the 18 years I was in the hand pour bait business I always shipped priority mail w/ tracking. I had pretty much learned how much it would cost to ship a package just by it's weight which I had a set of postal scales. I had a customer in Piedmont SC I shipped to regularly so has his costs down to a science. Well, last week I had to ship him a package. Weighed it on the postal scales in priority mail box as usual and calculated what it would cost. Should have cost about $13.50. When Connie at the post office put it on her scale and typed in zip code it came up $20.89. I asked her to retype it again and she did without question and it came out the same. I paid t and moved on. Postal prices have gone up almost 78% in last two months. They are talking about raising stamps for envelope postage to .$50 Cents and they wonder why the internet emails are being used more and more. Heck you can send Christmas cards from Hall Mark Card site now in emails. I will be avoiding post office a lot now since I sold my business 3 weeks ago.............jmho

I think Walmart has finally got into the price gouging game also. That same ammo was $13.97 at Walmart before the crunch and they know folks are wanting any 22 caliber ammo that hits the shelves...............jmho Glad at the present time I don't need any and won't need any for sometime to come.

The only encounters I have had with LEO's since obtaining my HCP have all be positive with young and older officers. About all of them are seat belt related issues because I don't use the shoulder harness part of the belt so they think I don't have my seat belt on. When they approach my Jeep they are always professional and ask for DL and always offer my HCP also so not to alarm them when they run my tags and DL. I also do open my door and show them that I do have my lap belt fastened. A few have asked why I altered my seat belt system and I hand them the letter from my doctor and a few read it and others just ask and I reply. I have yet to have one give me a ticket because of it or be unprofessional. I guess some of it might be that I also have handicap license plates because I am considered 100% disabled. Basically I think in an overall rating the ratio of good cop bad cop is probably 90% good 5 % not so good and 5% real bone heads..........................jmho

I have serious doubt tha we will get either of them done away with in the present administration because 1) the Democrats need the welfare vote to win anything and 2) this administrations has been the most invasive and non transparent administration in the history of Federal Government so they have no intentions of fixing anything that they benefit from so much....................jmho -
17year old with record killed in botched robbery
bersaguy replied to Patton's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
In all honesty the statement regarding a Catch and Release society I honestly believe that the judicial system hopes that more incidents like the one posted here takes place as more and more people have become armed and prepared to defend themselves. Stop and think about it for just a minute. Two bad guys down. One dead and the other going to jail and all done by a civilian with a legal carry permit and no police. Now that more and more people are going through courses and learning more how to defend themselves such as most all folks here, we are actually helping the police do their jobs. I think the police are finally figuring out that the more legally arms citizens that are out there and willing to actually defend themselves makes the police mans work a lot easier. Less danger for them and just more paper work. When seconds count the cops are only minutes away!! Also glad the Victim in this case was also a good shot and was able to hit the guy while he was in the van ................jmho -

I would like to thank everyone for participating in this as it has been informative in many levels but I think most everyone can agree on one thing. GUN FREE ZONES should be labeled as MASS KILLING ZONES and not GUN FREE ZONES. I can only hope that sometime someone in Government with enough authority is going to step up to the plate and remove all gun free zones and realize that it will help put an end to the slaughter houses because the future shooters will know when they enter that they will be entering an area that will strongly limit their possibility of success in their plans..............jmho -
Fox is reporting another school Shooting right now!!!
bersaguy replied to bersaguy's topic in General Chat
The way I see it Ted, the only connection is the school. Beyond that there are no connections but the News medias need to try and make the story bigger than it really is so they try to connect the dots with dots that don't exist in this incident. This was a single target issue and not a mass shooting situation..............I just wish when the shooter found out the teacher had fled he would not have shot anyone and just fled also. Has anyone heard about the condition of the young girl that was shot? I'm still praying for her and her family. -
I can respect Beretta's move to remain in Maryland but it is to keep their employees working and not to help Maryland. They are thinking of their employees and I can respect that. At least any expansions they have planned will not benefit Maryland and will provide new jobs in new states. If Maryland does anything else that may put in jeopardy their operation I am sure Beretta will make necessary changes accordingly.....jmho

RED kind of hit this on the head when he said I was looking for just one place that the general public has access to everyday that could truly be a gun free zone and it be a totally safe zone. The general public does not have access to the jail cells or the Space Station so those are not allowed even though they did fit the ideology of my original question. -

I didn't say anything about "secured" facilities particularly. I could say the White House but it has more guns in it than DC Police Department but one would never think so just going through it on a tour. -

I guess I should have made it a little more clear huh? I should have said public facility where the general population can go I guess. -

You can bet if I ever decide to buy or sell something here I will. I do have one prospect on a rifle I am selling and if it does not sell I will become a benefactor and put it on here...................  -

My Grandson is a jailer in a county jail here in middle TN and except for when he goes into the cell area itself he is armed. When he enters the cell area his gun is placed in lock box just out side the cell walk floor door. -

I am just trying to find a GUN FREE ZONE that would work and since the space station became an International Space Station I think I read that there is a small hand gun safe on the station now. Will do some research on that one. -

They are not gun free because the guy out side the bars or in the lobby of the jail has a gun. You would have to be referring to the inside of a jail cell only -

I sincerely hope not cause that was not my intentions. I just know how hard some ammo's are to get and was just trying to help folks that might be looking for something he was offering cause he does have some good prices on things but not good enough for me to go against our vendors here and thanks for the vote of confidence................... -

Yea and that is why I made the apology for posting a non vendor ad here on ammo. Won't happen again for sure. Was just trying to help folks but I don't want to try and help at the expense of our vendors here........... :wall: :wall:
