  1. I know to this day I have friends that use to love to swim in the ocean but after seeing that movie have never went swimming in salt water again.
  2. It is very costly and most dental insurance companies won't cover it....!!!
  3. All my life I had relatively good teeth. Took good care of them when at all possible. Then something happened that changed all of that and thought I would see if anyone here has experienced what I did. In 1996 I suffered a (Minor) stroke. I had totally recovered from it in about a year I thought but I was wrong according to my dentist. In 1997 I had three of my teeth come loose during a meal. I was careful as I finished the meal and next day was at the dentist office. He did xrays and after looking at the xrays came back with alarming news. He said the roots holding those 3 teeth had just deteriorated and nothing was holding them except my gums. He asked me if I was in pain and I said not at all. He proceeded to extract all 3 teeth with no sedative at all and they didn't even bleed. He went back and looked at the xrays and said that a couple other teeth were in the beginning stages of losing their roots also. He said he would do some research on this as he had never seen this before. About a week later I had 2 more teeth come lose and within 2 days I had just wiggled them a little and pull both of them with my fingers and again no blood. My dentist contacted me about 10 days later and I told him about pulling 2 more and he asked me a question. He asked me if I had anything happen to me making me physically sick over the last couple years. I told him of the stroke and he said ok and said he would get back with me. He did an hour later with the bad news. He said that the stroke had messed up my body chemistry and the area of the brain that supports the teeth was no longer functioning and I would probably lose all my teeth over time and suggested I get them all pulled and get plates made. I told him I would get back with him. Over the next 1.5 years I had removed every tooth in my mouth with my fingers and not one bled. I waited about a year for my gums to get to a point I thought would work and went and had plates made. I think I got my first set of plates in about 2001. Took me about 6 months to learn how to eat with them but they never fit right so went back and had them adjusted 4 different times and each time they would work for about a month and then needed to be adjusted again. I finally just gave up on getting plates that would work. Even went to other places to see if they could make something that worked and had zero luck. I tried every product on the market that is suppose to hold your dentures in place and nothing worked. I began to look back to the days when my father was still alive. He also wore plates and his would fit and remain in place with one of the products over the counter. Now this was something we use to tease him about. When he got ready to eat a meal of any kind he would remove his plates to eat. He said they would always come loose when he ate so he ate without them. We all accused him of having a ridge in his mouth like a snapping turtle instead of gums. About the only things he could not eat is things like peanuts or chew gum. Now as for me. I am beginning to think I also have a ridge like a snapping turtle. I don't wear plates and haven't for quite a few years and I am like my father. I can eat just about anything I like including steak. Recently I considered looking into these new permanent implates they offer and if I was 10 of 15 years younger I would but I am not a vain person that needs teeth to look good when I smile and I think I would be throwing money away at my age..
  4. Good info folks. Get it checked out for sure. Better to be safe than sorry.!!!
  5. That was why I said the loss of 1 life in a mass shooting was 1 too many regardless of any and all preferences of the shooter. Everyone is welcome to be a member of TGO and that has been made clear on several occassions so one more won't hurt................
  6. One loss of life in this manner is 1 to many..................JMHO
  7. So because she could not make up her/his mind whether he/she wanted to be a guy or a girl she thought taking a gun to a palce she worked and just shoot a bunch of people and then shoot yourself was going to help decide if she was a he or he was a she. I guess I could see that driving a person crazy.
  8. What is GODS name posesses a person to do things like this??? Pissed off because you lost a job is not a reason to just got back to work place and begin killing people. Just suck it up and go get another job. There are 1000's of them out there. Employers in all fields are begging for help and willing to train the right people.!!!!
  9. Yep, normally someone goes to jail even if just for cooling off period.
  10. Prayers for the boy and his mother. Just glad the boy was there to step up and protect his mother...........JMHO
  11. Thank you first off. You and your wife are saints. I know kind of what you went through as my wife and I took care of my quad son for his last 2 years on this earth and I made him a promise when the time came he would leave this world in his own room in his own home surrounded by everything familiar to him and as hard as it was watching him slowly go down hill I stood firm my promise to him. You are saints for going through all that you both did rather than just putting her is strange surroundings but keeping her at home. I am terribly sorry for your loss and she is at peace and she left surrounded by loved ones.
  12. Maybe a jealous wife would come to mind..............JMHO
  13. I think that looks like one of my swim baits on that rig.................
  14. At 72 years old and involved in the filming of Blue Bloods and other things he may want to do in his life I don't blame him for stepping down. He did not pull his membership and is still a member. Just not a board member. There comes a time in everyones life that there are changes that need to be made for them to be more comfortable in later years. All I will say is his leaving the board is his choice and I can respect that.............JMHO
  15. Thanks for the update OS. Always nice to learn stuff. That is why I said she probably has one cause I was not sure. I guess she has enough money now to have private security these days.
  16. I think Di Fi could be considered hard core anti gun yet she owns some and probably has a CCW to go along with them. I think many of them are finally coming to the realization that they are not bullet proof and need to be able to protect themselves also. I know it's hard to believe this but they are human too and their lives matter also.............JMHO
  17. I'm watching for signs of less birds as that is a sign of a coming migration and also watching the weather. As the leaves began to turn and the nights cool down. They are all signs of a pending migration. Once the main flight has left I will keep 2 feeders up for late travelers and when the leaves begin to fall I will look at putting up my seed feeders for my winter birds and begin putting food in the squirrel feeders as long as I am here and than I will be moving all of the feeders to my new home and get them up pretty quick so te birds will get use to them pretty quick along with the Squirrels.
  18. Right now I am guessing I have 30+ birds. I can go outside and they are buzzing around me like mosquito's going in every direction chasing each other around. I can walk up to a feeder with birds on it and get within 3 feet of it before they take flight. They sure are putting on a show here. Well the birds here don't know it's time to migrate but then that is the way it works when they do migrate. 1 day you will have 20 birds and the next day none. I don't know but I think they might leave at daylight after they hit the feeders that last time and then go.
  19. I don't know if folks have taken down their feeders in my area or what but I have so many birds I am having to fill all 6 of my feeders every 2 days as I ahve birds on them all day long. I have so many birds right now that they have began to stop fighting and I have seen 2 or 3 birds on a feeder at the same time feeding. I went and bough another 4 lb bag of sugar and will make more food to fill the feeders again tonight. I will them at night now to keep them from fighting over the ones I leave out while I am filling others. It was funny the other day to see that crazy woodpecker on his feeder sharing it with Hummingbirds. I asked Tommy if they had any Hummingbirds where I wil be moving and he said my daughter keeps to feeders full for the birds they ahve so yea they have birds so I will be sure I put my feeders up next spring. I am going to mss this place. I have lived here longer than any place in my life and if I didn't have a butt head for a land lord I would not be moving this Fall but have no choice. I have been out to the new place to look around and trying to see the positive things about moving out there. I will be back in the country, I will be able to build a small range behind the house because there is a natural burm that will work just right. There are lots of wild critters out there. Squirrels, Rabbits, possums, an occassional Black smellie critter that seem to come around at night mostly but seldom. A fox or 2 live in the area but Tommy says he has never seen an Coyotes in all the years of living there. He said he thought at one time he had a Bobcat in the area back when he had a Chickent Coupe but not sure. Darby will have plenty of critters to chase anyway. He she only has a few rabbits and squirrels. Oh well it is what it is so guess I will make the best of it.
  20. The place I will be moving to is kinda a black hole to a point but was worse 2 years ago and 1 tree later. There was no internet service there until AT&T put up that 1 more tower where ever they put it because now there is AT&T cell phone service, AT&T Broadband Internet service and Direct TV but that did require cutting down one big tree but it was already half dead anyway from Lightening.
  21. I don't know how you feel about this except the pain in your heart and that hollow feeling of loss. When I lost Kasey, friends told me to go adopt another best friend for one of the dog rescue centers. I kept telling myself I was not ready but in my heart I also kept telling myself that I have had a dog in my life since I was 6 years old. In Mid December I decided I would at least go and look at dogs in the rescue centers. Not really planning on actually getting one. Well I spent about a week going to different rescue centers interviewing dogs in the centers but I was not sure I would find the one special furry friend that would grab my heart. Well, I only had one more center in my area to check out so I went to see what they had. They showed me about 8 or 9 different dogs in the catagory I told them I wanted. They were all nice dogs and friendly but nothing that stood out. Then one of the girls went and got a dog that was not kept with the rest because of her shyness and brought her into the visiting room. I knew instantly when we looked into each others eyes that She would be going home with me. I adopted her that evening and took her home. Meet Darby
  22. This is where my Kasey remins with me though her spirit is at the Rainbow Bridge waiting to rejoin up with me.
  23. Believe me I know how bad that hurts. I lost my Kasey and the 1st anniversary is drawing near. October 23rd will be 1 year and it ripped my heart almost out of my chest. I had Kasey from Bottle feeding her and 18 wonderful years and she is still with me thanks to all of the wonderful folks here. I had her cremated and was only able to do that because of folks here and I still can't thank them enough. Take care of all the great memories you have of Mario as that will keep him with you for ever. I'm very very sorry for your loss............
  24. Believe me I have the utmost respect for any officer that works everyday doing their job and respecting the uniform they wear and the people tey might have to arrest. Before my Grandson became head jailer on the night shift he was a patrolman for 2 years. He told me horror stories about things he saw while on patrol and that is why he took the jailer position when it was offered to him. He thought it would be better but said he was wrong about that decision also. He had no idea his fellow jail personnel were so stupid and evil. Since joining 911 he has received to commendations for talking to people that were doing stupid things. 1 guy was holding hostages and he had him on the line for over 2 hours before he was able to get the guy to give up and the other one was for talking to a guy that was going to comit suicide and had a gun and finally after almost 2 hours he surrrendered to officers. He said his job is very rewarding but has it's down sides when they lose someone also,
  25. My Grandson was the head jailer on the night shift there and once he was clear of having any knowledge of the incident he quit the Cheatham County Sheriffs Police department and went to work at Dickson County Sheriffs Department but decided he didn't want to be police officer any longer and took a job working in the 911 phone center taking 911 calls and has been working there since he left Dickson Police Department. He told me being a police officer these days is more political than it once was and he didn't want a job like that. I told him I thought he made a good choice.
