  1.   I missed that in all the hoopla in the rest of the info about it.  Now I'm even more convinced that it wasn't an anti-gun person who left it there.  The place is just too far away from the rest of the current news about guns.
  2.   If it was a cheap gun, it would lead me to think it was left there (accidentally or on purpose, I'm not sure) by someone who is a part of the Open Carry movement.  They are all about just getting whatever will go bang without much thought to quality.   Open Carry Texas is doing all the leg work here, the anti-gun crowd just has to sit back and watch their stupidity on display.
  3.   Did you look at page 2 of their photos?   In this one- you'll need to zoom in on it- you can see the gun in the wheelchair has his AR with mag resting on his thigh and the barrel is anywhere but a safe direction for a public setting.   Here he is again with a kid close enough to where his rifle is pointing to make me think he isn't exactly cognizant of where his barrel is pointed.   Take a look at the couple walking point.  Call me crazy, but if you love your woman, you don't let her walk that close to the muzzle.   In any event, having a long gun slung on your back isn't safe with a magazine in...to my opinion anyway.  Yes, I know, I have no idea if they are really loaded or just a mag in the well, but to me it's irrelevant since you treat any weapon as a loaded weapon.  If it's slung, it's slung muzzle down, in the front or off to the side and I have a hand on it to keep positive control whenever possible.  Maybe that's just me.     As far as our side attacking these guys being counterproductive...I don't care.  Not talking up about this would be just a hypocritical as any other fringe position not getting the business from those who agree in part with them, but wish hey would stop being idiots going about the cause.  They may be on the right side of the law, but these assclowns don't represent my idea of responsible gun ownership and I'm not going to let their actions speak for me.
  4.   No kidding.  Most of us, if not all have seen these types before.  They're the people who will ruin your day at the range with their idiotic behavior, and make you think about calling it a day early so you don't have to be around them.   I look at these guys and all I have is contempt.  They may be exercising their rights, but they're coming close on exercising to the point of injury.  I doubt they understand that concept since they don't appear to exercise anything else, in any fashion, but I digress.    Look at these photos from their own site.  Simple things like muzzle awareness seem to be an abstract concept for more than a few of them.  You think the media is spun up about them now?  Wait until one of these window lickers has a negligent discharge in an area where kids are near.  It's only a matter of time, IMO.    And on a completely personal note...they obviously don't know jack about good guns & accessories.  All I see in these pictures are below average firearms with hardware that was the first item that comes up when you sort results in a category on Cheaper Than Dirt by "Price: Lowest to Highest."
  5. I need a long sling for my AR-15. I'm 6'1", keep the stock fully extended most of the time and like to have the rifle resting low by my side with the muzzle down and the buttstock pointing up like a broadsword handle.  When I was still wearing a uniform, I had a standard issue 1.25" black nylon sling on my M4 that was super long and let me sling the gun comfortably over all my kit and without it, but all I can find are the 50"-55" ones now and those are way too short. Does anybody know where I can find a reasonably priced two-point sling to accommodate what I'm looking for? I don't need the latest taticool ones and want to keep this purchase at no more than $40 with shipping.   Thanks for any help.
  6. Did anybody go to this?  I'm debating going tomorrow, but don't want to waste the time or the admission (yeah, I know it's only $10) if it's not worth it.
  7. I use a microwave for most things, but not pizza rolls.  I bought a toaster oven just for those.  The difference is amazing and worth the extra 10 minutes or so.
  8.   Don't forget keeping cigarette butts policed. If he see's more than one or two on the ground, he'll have all the NCO's in for a class on how to field strip a butt and put it in your pocket-  then send us off to the motor-pool parking lot to go police call it for them...on a Saturday.
  9.   What he said.  I want my home internet to be mine.  I damn sure don't want to run a separate network node for somebody else; especially for free on their behalf.   I'm not about to trust a mega corporation to do the right thing by me.  I'll take a modem/router combo I own and can control for home network administration over what Comcast wants to push on me any day of the week.  All I need them for is the pipe and bandwidth, I've got the rest.
  10. How are you able to type so soon after the lobotomy... :D  joking of course.   Congrats on a great achievement in your career.

  12. Those men who jumped behind the wall and stormed the beaches had balls that clank.  I was always proud to serve in a unit that carried their legacy and history.
  13.   Think about what you're calling to get fixed.  Is it their equipment, or the signal itself?  If you have your own equipment, everything up to the outlet is still their responsibility, after that it's on you and you can call Motorola or even Google troubleshooting steps before you need Comcast.  I'd wager 99 times out of 100 it's the signal and not the equipment.  I've never had a problem with my stuff, but YMMV.   The modem lets you go into it through a static IP and pull the logs.  If you can screenshot or print out the status messages like this one, you can prove it was Comcast's fault and tell them you aren't paying for a service call for them to fix the services you contracted for.
  14. I haven't had a Comcast modem since I started service with them back in November.  This is what I have set up in my home.   http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004XC6GJ0/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00A3YN0Z0/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i03?ie=UTF8&psc=1   They make routers that can run in the 5GHz range now, but the one listed has been fine for my wi-fi needs.  The modem specs claim it can handle 172Mbps download/131Mbps upload; the router claims up to 300Mbps.  That's well beyond any internet package a normal house will need for a good while.  I fully expect to have these two things running wherever I live for about 5 more years.   All you need to give Comcast is the MAC address for the router- they don't need anything else to send the signal to it and from there. After that, you're in charge of your own network.  It's not difficult at all and if you have any questions, PM me and I can walk you through it.   A bonus I've noticed is that I never have to reset modem or router.  They function flawlessly and at a combined price coming in under $100, they pay for themselves after the 14th month.
  15.   See, this is why we can never be as good as the 3%'ers...   They don't stop at giving the page a 'Like.'  They stay vigilant and make sure they are liking all the individual posts, sharing them and whatever else you do with Facebook.  Freedom doesn't come from just one like, it comes from making sure you're ready to keep the echo chamber going.
  16.   I know what you mean about the ergonomics.  I've had a P99 since 2004 and I've never felt the need to stray towards another gun; it feels that good in my hands.
  17. Can't imagine why their only about 3% of the population when TNIIIer's recruiting efforts are so awesome...
  18. 27,027 Backers   $1,201,258 pledged of $1,000,000 goal   And growing...
  19. Great cause; I'm about to go send them some duckets to help out.  Thanks for sharing this.    ETA:  Holy s---...they just opened this today and already have 12,479 backers who gave a total of $572,504 towards the $1,000,000 goal at the time I hit Save Changes.
  20. A CNN website poll isn't scientific, they even say so when you click to vote.  At best, it's a straw poll of those who visit the CNN website.  Any real polling on gun issues needs to be much deeper than a single question.  It has to gauge emotion on the issue, would it decide your vote or not in a future election, and ask if it would cause you to vote when you normally wouldn't. The issue is too complex for any top layer public opinion that doesn't have any clout.
  21. Primary:  AR-15; 5.56mm Backup:  Walther P99; .40 S&W Secondary Backup: Kel-Tec P3AT; .380 When all else fails:  Klingon Bat'leth (yes, I have one :) )
  22. I can do more work, enjoy better leisure time and not have to deal with a mini size computer (which I hate) by using my laptop when needed for real work and my Nexus 7 for travel and fun- for a few hundred less than you listed the 64GB model at.   I'm not impressed with the Microsoft tablet offerings at all.
  23. Penn & Teller are awesome.  I find myself agreeing with them on a lot of issues.  Their show at the Rio in Las Vegas is a good time if you're ever there.
  24.   I was very careful about putting in the bolt catch.  Instead of a thin material thin like masking tape, I used the 2" tape (aka: 100 mph tape) that's common in the military and would take some effort to scratch through and placed strips all around the area that a mistake could scratch up.  It took me a few minutes to rip out pieces to exact sizing around the area, but it was worth it. None of the lines I saw on the tape after putting in the roll pin went through to catch the body of the lower.
