  1. I was just there for the RV show and I saw no postings.
  2. I find this response a little bit rude. Attorneys have specialities just like the medical profession. Would you expect your family doctor to know how to do neurosurgery? For all you know he could be a tax or real estate attorney, and as Oh Shoot points out this could not be a legal question.
  3. I'm sorry, but the entire VA system is an embarrassment to this county and not enough citizens care about it to actually do something about it. Example, ask someone about the death panels and watch them look at you with no emotion about it because it's old news. I have friends who work for the VA and who tell me things that go on there. While there are many who actually give a crap there are many more who couldn't care less about doing their jobs, and the unfortunate thing about the latter is that management can't get rid of them. The system which was set-up to care for men and women who sacrificed ANYTHING in the service of this country does its best to hurt them. I could go on a diatribe about my personal experience with the VA, but I'm sure no one cares. :(
  4. Just playing, man. I'm not the grammar police. :)
  5. And "too" many. :)
  6. Welp, I'm jealous! :P
  7. Would that be Delta Farce?
  8. This is why they now call it "Climate Change."
  9. Ya, it sounds like someone that's seen The Guns of Navarone.
  10. Back in the day that described most LEO's. In the late 80's and early 90's most departments had their officers qualify once per year, and that's the only shooting the officers did all year long. Don't know how it is today.
  11. "The attack — the country’s deadliest terrorist strike in decades — appeared highly planned to coincide with a staff meeting at the weekly Charlie Hebdo and left its well-known editor and other staff members among the dead."   No Google search there.
  12. I don't believe that you can keep out a determined intruder unless you are forewarned and reasy to shoot as they enter. You can only delay them.
  13. Not at all over cautious. I feel the same way.
  14. I think that's possible, but not probable. I concern myself with probabilities.   EDIT: No disrespect intended.
  15. Not at all. In my years as a LEO the only ones that I've known to come back were estranged husbands. Although I haven't studied it I'd imagine that statistics would show that home invasions are conducted by two groups: one where the criminal knows you're home, and the other by one that doesn't know you're at home. The former are there to do you harm, and the latter are there to take your crap without too much hassle. Guess who's going to run off?
  16. Ding, ding, ding!!!
  17. Just responding to what was written. Personally, I don't give a crap because I wouldn't break into your house.
  18. "...they have voided their right to breathe."   Absolutely!
  19. Spots, there are exceptions to the rules in just about everything. There is no such thing as one size fits all. I'm sure there are lunatics in this very country who would no doubt be undeterred by anything their victim does, but I highly doubt they are common place.   I am not arguing FOR racking a slide or giving any such warning either. In fact I find what some people on this forum state that they would do under certain circumstances a little bit comical when they are speaking without experience, because even people who have trained have acted differently under stress. The "Fight or Flight" syndrome is a random bitch.
  20. I submit that if you aren't afraid of the knowledge that your opponent in fact has a shotgun then you won't be deterred by the blast either.   But I also don't believe in keeping a defensive weapon without one in the chamber already. EDIT: Racking the slide would therefore be out of the question.
  21. Oh, for the record I don't own a shotgun nor would I for home defense. I know some do not share that choice, but that's what's great about our country: freedom.
  22. It wouldn't be a deterrent then, would it?
  23. So your answer would be yes?   While I would shoot to stop any intruder in my house, I would still prefer that they ran away screaming like a little girl. There's less paperwork.
  24. In the late 80's popo were taught by some to rack the slide loudly before entering a building to clear it of a burglar. I know that I was taught that back then. I would imagine that anecdotal evidence taught the trainers that the sound would tell the bad guys that the popo have arrived, and since the burglars rarely carried more than a handgun, it told them that said popo out gunned them as well: therefore, they gave up, (NOT run away wetting themselves). I have no direct experience of this "tactic" working, but I did bluff a badguy out by loudly proclaiming that I would sick the dog on him when I had no dog. :)
  25. Why...do you desire to kill someone?
