1. Anyone know of a dealer in the Lavergne area that charges reasonable transfer fees for a stripped lower?   I went in to Speciality Arms in Lavergne and they want $50 for a transfer fee for a stripped lower when they do not sell them normally - only complete lowers. I have a PSA upper that I'd like a matching lower.
 2. Personally, I don't think that it's a good idea to debate such things in the heat of the moment particulalrly with the leftist media and their tactics. America has a short attention span, so why jump in the fray?
 3.
http://singleactions.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=gunsmithing&action=display&thread=4750 any chance its a 1/2" dovetail cut? you may be able to get a novak to work? When all else fails pm Timcalhoun on here. If anyone can help you its him.
It is a 1/2" dovetail, but the techs at Brownells told me that I was SOL. It is .24" tall on the front and .10" on the back.
 4.
can you get the screw out? if not i would tap a new one in. a screw is better than lock tight.
It is out; just finding a black replacement could be a problem.
 5. Well, the longer the barrel the more accurate the weapon!
 6. I have a 1911A1 that had an adjustable rear sight by Micro on it. Long story short, the head of the set screw is stripped out and I cannot purchase a replacement. The sight is no longer available, and the dovetail is too large for modern rear sights unless I add metal back into the dovetail and re-cut the slide that I just had re-blued. This is leaving me with what I believe are two choices: 1. Find a different set screw, drill a new hole in the base of the sight, and tap it to accept the new set screw. 2. Use high strength Loctite. Any other suggestions?
 7. Dang! I like saltine crackers!
 8.
Though I agree what AZ did was wrong in this case. I also must tell you that I only shop at AZ for auto parts. They have the best service, knowledge and many stores honor military and retired military with a discount.
Clearly, you never been to the one in Lavergne. MAJOR ATTITUDE!!!
 9. http://www.wsmv.com/...to-gun-law-deal Quite different than what the Lt. Gov said.
 10.
It's not Obama this time, but liberal politics. They get their money like the rest. Always a string attached. I don't see how you could be forced to give up a right because of this, though. It may be written down somewhere, but that doesn't make it right.
They get away with it because it hasn't been challenged in a court of law.
 11.
if you refuse to do business with companies that don't allow their employees to carry guns I am not sure where you can do business at.
Personally, I don't think that's the issue, but you're right about your statement. Not very many businesses allow their employees to pack more than their lunch. My problem is their reaction to the situation. He could have gotten a verbal reprimand accompanied with a pat on the back and I would have no problem with it.
 12.
Interesting. That suggests that business owners are more trusting of people they probably don't know as well as their employees.
I don't think that trust has anything to do with it. Think of how many people on here post that they'll never do business with a company that's anti-gun. Companies consider that too, and they don't want to kill profits because they want to control their customers, but they can control their employees and have liability for their actions.
 13.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this has been in effect for quite sometime. Only now is it coming up as an issue. Obama has nothing to do with this. This is the VA.
You are not wrong according to the article.
 14.
I've always been baffled at company plocies that forbid employees from carrying while allowing customers and guests to.
Customers pay the bills and employees increase the liability.
 15.
Fox "News" is the only "news" outlet to sue in court, and win the right to lie to their viewers. Do you have another source confirming this story? Sorry, posting Fox is like posting MSNBC. Neither of them are out for the news, both are out for what sells to their target audience. 16. Can you imagine a rollover wreck in that car? WOW!!!
 17.
Even starting back in Compuserve chatroom days through to the present, I've found with electronic, written communication, it's very easy for people to misunderstand you or ascribe intent to something said/posted that was never intended. For some reason, TGO seems to be where I've experienced that most for myself. I don't know if it's me or everybody else but I guess it's probably me.
One uses only 7% of their communication skills when they write.
 18.
Ok fair enough... Find me a single test case then... There has to be a single person on this forum who can't have a firearm stored in their vehicle at work, and they are forced to be unarmed. You say show you the harm to the business... and I say that isn't the way our laws are supposed to work... We're supposed to allow people (even the people who run businesses) to be free unless their is a strict need of the community that can not be solved any other way. So show me a single person that is being harmed by not having this law passed... Show me a single adult that is forced to disarm at a private business... If there are such people, then this law might make sense... but I contend you can't find a single case. This is a law to make a special interest group (permit holders) to be able to avoid making hard choices about their safety and their income, and has nothing to do with freedom.
Umm, I am forced to disarm to travel to work because my employer's parking lot is the only parking available, and my employer specifically prohibits ANY weapons on the property.
 19.
We have opinions to and just like you we like to express them. Just because we are moderators doesn't mean we have to be mindless, emotionless zombies. When things get out of hand the members are pretty good about reporting it when it goes over the line and then we address it. This is a hot issue, not only here but across the state. And with anything people are passionate about things do get a bit heated. Dolomite
You mean you guys aren't mindless, emotionless zombies???
 20.
I'm sorry but if you aren't saddened by this persons senseless death, even if he did bring it partially on himself, you aren't much of a human being. To celebrate the fact saying he got what he deserved is just sick. A man DIED over a couple of hundred dollars worth of electronics. I think even a thief's life is worth far more than that. When society starts valuing its possessions more than another persons life it has lost its way.
Am I right to assume that "RevScottie" means Reverend Scottie?
 21.
According to the article, he started shooting while he could only see them from the waist down. How did he know they were not friendlies? The he admits to killing the girl basicly because she laughed at him. This guy needs to be put out of commision. I stand by my precious statement. They should hang this idiot on the public square!
What I'd like to know is, why isn't her murder 1st degree? He put the gun under her chin and pulled the trigger when she was incapacitated. To me that makes it premeditated.
 22.
There is a difference between "crying over a thief's death" and being somewhat appalled, as I am, that some here seem to think property is worth a person's life; most especially appalling when these employees/security guard who acted did so against their employer's policies, did so to protect property that is worth so very little as what this man attempted to steal and did so to protect property that didn't even belong to the people who acted. Maybe thinking the above makes me part of a minority here but if so it's a minority I'm proud to be a part of.
I'm not saying that you are wrong to be appalled, Robert. I'm saying that none of us know the whole story. Everyone rendering an opinion in this matter is speculating since we do not have ALL of the information. If the evidence shows that the security guard indeed acted out of policy and choked the guy to death then he gets what he deserves and I'm appalled at the guard's actions too. That doesn't mean that I'll feel bad that a thief died. I don't feel bad about someone intentionally jumping out of a perfectly good airplane and finding out that their chute didn't open either.
 23.
"One employee said he held the man in a choke hold and told him to tap when he couldn't breathe." So if he doesn't "tap out" like you see on TV you just continue to choke him to death?
Because we know that integrity and accuracy in reporting is prevalent today? Not! I know an officer who shot and killed a man who pointed an empty AK at him, and a reporter who was rightfully directed to his Chief of Police for any comments told the officer that he either told her what happened or she'd just make it up.
 24.
I never said ALL security officers were wannabe's or yahoo's but I do contend there's quite a few that are. Anyone can claim their the stores or businesses security guard without any training or qualifications, all they need to be is an employee. I've know a couple of yahoos who applied for work for a bail bondsmen to be bounty hunters, I don't know if they ever got the job, I hope they didn't because they wern't much different than the people they wanted to hunt. Yahoo's are out there working as so-called security guards and bounty hunters etc. I know you probably know that but it seems that some on here believe every person accused is quilty and all private security guards are hero angles.
"I don't have very much respect for "private security" cop wannabe's, there's no real standards in training and I don't recognize any real authority they think they have." This is certainly a generalized statement: however, it doesn't really matter. What many don't understand is that security guards fill a broad range of expectations. Most are nothing more than a warm body that lowers the client's insurance premiums while some are professional witnesses, and while still others are high quality with real expectations to act that way. Many see the warm bodies and associate them with all of the security officers just as many see corrupt police officers and associate all police officers as being the same. If some security guard wrongly accused my wife of a crime and laid their hands on her I would be pissed too, but I would be pissed at the person; not the profession in general. But that's just me.
