  1. How many articles did they write on Clinton's sexual misdeeds?
  2. IIRC from my history classes in college the South's biggest problem was that they had raw materials, but manufacturing was mostly in the North. It was kind of hard to keep up with the number of guns and cannons to win a war when your manufacturing capabilities are limited. That's a big reason why Germany lost a couple of wars: they couldn't keep up with American manufacturing.
  3. You wouldn't expect "Gott ist gegen uns" to go over too well, would you?
  4. Hard to argue against facts. We need more Sheriffs and Chiefs of Police like this.
  5. I'm surprised the Huffington Post isn't defending the guy. Isn't sexual freedom the liberal thing?
  6. Interesting: My HCP Instructor taught us that showing the gun is not threatening, and in fact scared off 3 men who were approaching him from different angles in the parking lot of Opry Mills. He thought they were positioning theirselves to rob him while cutting off avenues of escape. My instructor was a LEO for the boro, and said that if you do this to immediately call the police and report it - first one heard from is the victim afterall.
  7. A genuine concern, but I'm more worried about length and utility than weight. I figured on a fluted, shorter barrel than the 26" that's on it now. Perhaps 23-24" but I plan on deciding that when I read more about the cartridge and optimal barrel length. This is just an idea I'm kicking around. I don't plan on running out to implement it right away.
  8. I got'cha now. I don't exactly think in TEOTWAWKI type of mindset. I think in terms of the "killing two birds with one stone" fashion, so I was looking at this as an option. I look at it as it being more likely that I'll be doing some distance shooting in the future rather than shooting for survival. This would be the dual purpose rifle. I have a Sig 556 DMR for protection.
  9. I'd be interested in the results of shooting ballistic gelatin.
  10. The 6.5 Lapua has a sharper shoulder and longer neck making it a shortened and “improved” .260 Remington case. Along with its small primer pocket it's stronger: therefore, it can achieve higher velocities with the same amount of powder than the .260. The brass for the .260 is also reportedly to mostly be of "marginal quality" as well. Besides, the 6.5 Lapua is good enough for Marine Snipers it's good enough for me. I did a cursory search and found a few match grade barrel makers for the Savage. Looks like the barrel will run shy of $300 unless I have it fluted. That's better than the $700 for a whole new rifle. I do plan to have a shorter barrel than the 26" that is on it now and also have it fluted to that it's a touch easier to cart around.
  11. ...6.5 x 47 Lapua? When I say anybody I mean people with gunsmithing experience for doing the actual re-barrel, and hunters as far as the ability of the 6.5 Lapua would be for hunting deer. I will say this: I am NOT a hunter: however, I am entertaining the idea of learning to hunt deer in the event that I must do so to survive. I also like to shoot distance, and the 6.5 Lapua does that better than the .308. Questions, comments, or snide remarks?
  12. My lab did this so I took him to the vet. Turns out that he had a very painful yeast infection in his ear. They gave me medicine for it and he's fine now. No more crying.
  13. Being employed in the field of sales I thought I'd report on my trip to Shadow Warrior that some here recommended. So on Saturday afternoon I headed up to Greene Military & Police on Lebanon Pike in Nashville near Briley Parkway. When I walked through the door I was greeted and had several of the staff offer to assist me. All of the items that I saw were new; not used. When we discovered that they had 2XL's but didn't have a 2XL Long field jackets on the rack the staff member that was helping me went into the storeroom repeatedly searching both where the item should have been and where it might have been. The clerk then apologized for not having the item in stock and offered to order the jacket for me. I declined since I had other places to look that day, and as I was leaving I was thanked for stopping in and bid a good day. After stopping in at Outdoor World in the off chance they would have field jackets I plugged the address of Shadow Warrior into the GPS and headed off. When I arrived and entered the store there was a middle-aged, portly, unkempt man sitting behind the counter. He sort-of greeted me but offered no assistance or direction even though I was the only customer in his store. I finally located the general area where the field jackets were kept and noticed no order to things. I looked for a while to find some order but noticed none. I went back to the counter and asked the fellow if he by chance had any 2XL Long field jackets to which he replied that he had no idea. I then asked if there was a specific order to things in the hopes that he could direct me to an area to focus upon, and he said that there wasn't because they're kind of just thrown back there. After I few more minutes of looking I became agitated and left in disgust realizing that I had travelled 43 miles from home to waste my time. I then proceeded home where armed with the knowledge of the correct jacket size I ordered from a place online. I normally do not like to order clothing online, (considering my size), and if I wasn’t so far from Greene Military & Police I would have returned to give them my business. I don’t know what your ideas of customer service are, but Shadow Warrior certainly fell far short of my mine. In the near future when I am in the market for boots – or any other items that they carry – I’ll be returning to Greene Military & Police for sure.
  14. Well, when the forklift broke down and we had to hump 147 lbs rounds from the back of the pos to the gun line to sustain the fire mission I was one of the first ones they looked at to do it.
  15. Thanks, but the odds of your stuff fitting me would be way out there: I'm 6'4" 300 lbs with size 15 feet.
  16. For 33 years my wife's idea of camping has been staying at a hotel, but recently she has discovered a fondness for the real thing. While camping this past very cool weekend I reflected on my days in the Marines and the M-65 field jacket I once wore. I found them to be not only warm but comfortable. Is there a reasonably price military surplus stores in the Nashville/Murfreesboro area that ya'll would recommend?
  17. I would love the Supreme Court to put the feds in their place - generally speaking - but I doubt it'll happen. Color me surprised if it does.
  18. I do have an Ed Brown Kobra Carry just itch'n for a set, but I'll wait for prices to settle.
  19. Re-post
  20. It is. It's done by a fairly small church in Georgia.
