  1. That's where we ate on the way back.
  2. Well, the wife and I ate at The Cupboard on the way there, and at Tops BBQ on the way back. The Cupboard was good although pricey for the size of the serving that I got. I had the chicken fried chicken (that was about the size of two smallish chicken fingers) w/mashed potatoes and slaw whereas the wife had breakfast. I cleaned my plate which wasn't hard to do. Tops was good although I think it wasn't vastly better than Famous Dave's. It was certainly different than Famous Dave's because of the hot BBQ sauce was very different. Chris loved their cheeseburger. It didn't help that we had to eat outside with the vagrants, (for lack of a better term), talking to their selves as they walked by us. I would have liked to have tried Central BBQ, but we didn't want to get way off the Interstate to get there. Surprisingly, on Saturday we ate at a small family restaurant called Sheba's off exit 30 in Hope Arkansas that was fantastic! I had their chicken fried steak w/mashed potatoes, milk gravy, and carrots. My large oval dinner plate was completely covered, and I ate every bit of it. This is why we like to eat at small, local restaurants when we travel. They can really surprise you.
  3. Well, the "boss" has decided that she's interested in The Cupboard. I'd prefer BBQ, but if she ain't happy; you ain't happy! Thanks for the input guys!
  4. It's probably about personal taste. I've had Edley's and Martins and didn't like it. There used to be a BB's BBQ in Franklin that I thought was awesome. They introduced me the the BBQ stuffed potato and made a huge fan out of me/
  5. We have 4 Golden Comets that lay a lot of eggs that are very large. I'd even say that one of them occasionally thinks she's in competition with the turkeys. My wife loves eggs, and they keep her fed plus general cooking needs. We got them at Tractor Supply. We use Edwards scratch feed along with an occasional treat of a hand full of meal worms. Other than feeding and watering them they pretty much so do what they do. We do have them in a 5' chain-link fenced-in area that's considerably large. We did let them free range, but they kept going into the neighbors yard and scratch up their mulch.
  6. That's not a detour; it's the wrong direction.
  7. Well that just sounds nasty.
  8. You were definitely eating at the wrong place then. I've been down here for 23 years now, but there were places like Bryant's that were excellent. Bryant's has had more than one President eat there, but they went downhill after the old man died and his daughter took over. He used to make all of his sauce at once for the whole year. Once he ran out he closed for vacation. He stored it in big glass containers in his front window. The trick was getting it as aged as you could before he ran out.
  9. You're nuts! Reduced and smoked BBQ sauce on ribs or brisket is da-bomb!
  10. We ate at the Gus' Fried Chicken in Knoxville. It was alright, but not the hot chicken I'm used to in Nashville. @MacGyver can testify to my idea of hot chicken - although I'm finding that comes at a cost as I get older.
  11. I like BBQ, (I'm originally from Kansas City), but I don't care for "Memphis" style if Whitt's BBQ is a true representation of that style. I went there ONCE here in Nashville and was offended by it. I hate fish, but I like a good meat and three. My wife would turn down Mexican and I don't care for Chinese.
  12. My wife and I are traveling through Memphis on our way to a wedding in Hope, Arkansas on Friday. The plan would put us in Memphis at the lunch hour. Can anyone recommend a good spot for lunch that isn't a big chain restaurant?
  13. Yes, it mutates like the flu and cold viruses do. The advantage of any vaccine that you take is that, although you may contract a different strain than what you were vaccinated for, the vaccine will lesson the severity of the new strain on your body. Example: the flue vaccine did not cover the H1N1 but those who did receive the vaccine had no serious problems when they got the H1N1. This seems to be more the case with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine that's coming out. This is not ever going away with today's medical technology.
  14. I had my first round at the Murfreesboro VA on the 13th. There were a lot of vets there, but they got me in and out in under 30 minutes, and that's with some paperwork. Second shot on the 15th will be much faster.
  15. I have a Honda EM5000SX generator but have yet needed to use it.
  16. The wood grain is gorgeous.
  17. I live in an all republican district, but I would point out that, unlike the Republicans, Democrats have voted en bloc on every major law and action from well before Obama was in office IIRC. They think that their vision of America is supported by the constituents that elected them into office to begin with; therefore, THEY VOTE WITH THEIR PARTY and thus do not give a what you or I say. Even Democrats that live in a closely divided electorate have voted en bloc, i.e. Manchin. They all do polls of their constituents to see were they sit on issues, so don't think that if the majority of their constituents support "common sense" gun control that they will consider your rights when they vote for the law. The only thing that gets their attention is when the people fight back - hence the barbed wire-topped fence and National Guard soldiers surrounding the capital building.
  18. I was being facetious.
  19. What's that got to do with rappers in a strip club?
  20. Glad to hear it but we still have RINOs in state government.
  21. I wouldn't know anything about that.
  22. Wasn't Utah's permit reciprocity restrictive as in they didn't accept TN's permit? If so this is huge.
  23. I am 6'4" and 340lbs. I find that a small of the back at 5:00 is pretty comfortable. My problem is that in the summer I wear shorts with drawstrings.
