  1. I've got one, but I'm in Nashville.
  2. I have to say I'm (again) impressed with Ben West. By the time I shot him an email, he had been notified and had already been on the phone W/ the Dept of Safety. He replied to my email with his mobile phone number to give me a update basically saying the same thing. Then he said they can stick it in his...ear...that the House is going to make wholesale changes in the way gun owners are treating in this state.
  3. Got this in a email blast from the Tn Firearms Assoc: Tennessee Firearms Association, Inc. Legislative Action Committee Tennessee Department of Safety has started sending out letters telling firearms instructors that "effective immediately" they are going to be required to complete and fill out a "roster" that has to be faxed to the Department of Safety within 24 hours of the ion handgun permit certification class. http://www.state.tn.us/safety/forms/HGs ... 862408.pdf This new roster collects information concerning the weapons used in the class including the owner's name and the serial number. Other forms filed with TDOS (including the certification form) has the make, model and caliber of the weapon. Nothing in the statutes authorize or direct the Department of Safety to collect or require this information. I would like to gauge the public response to the collection of this information and whether it enables TDOS or the state to start collection records detailing firearms owners and at least some of the specific weapons owned by them. If you oppose this change, feel free to contact TDOS AND your state legislators. TDOS contact information in on the TDOS web site http://www.state.tn.us/safety/handgunmain.htm The main contact, according to the state's web site is: Contact Us: Lisa Knight, Manager 1150 Foster Avenue Nashville, TN 37243 (615) 253-5221 866-849-3548 (toll-free)
  4. I thought the IDF used US mil spec M4s and their own self made made toys...Century must be better than COLT if the IDF uses 'em
  5. Can you give some more information on what a steel match is
  6. now if they only had an outlet shop on site I'd be in business :-)
  7. They are supposed to be one of the top tier AR makers. I believe the self manufacture everything except the furniture. I HAD one of their M5 uppers on order through Midway but their incompetence led to my loss of patience. I now have a M5 Tactical on (eternal) order with Guns and Leather. ***eternal = 8 to 10 month delivery window per Sabre on complete rifles..they are not quoting any delivery times on parts***
  8. That looks VERRRRRYYY interesting.....
  9. TCampbell must have a photographic memory or a GPS implant :-) Those directions are dead on. If I leave Donelson by 11:45, and stop to get drinks and snacks, I'm still on site standing around shooting the breeze by 12:30.
  10. Im not sure if they are going to run 2 or 4 stages on the one range. During a "normal: match day they dun two ranges, each with two stages each. I'm going to guess they will run two stages
  11. Volunteer Pistol Club is holding their IDPA Classifier on the 14th of December. We shoot in Brush Creek TN, which is the other side of Lebanon out I40 E. Plan on being there around 12:30 if you are interested. They are also going to setup the 2nd bay for a "normal" IDPA match...you can shoot one or the other...but not both...not enough time.
  12. That sucks. I remember working for a large healthcare company here in Nashville and being told in a meeting that some people would still get bonuses, but IT staff would not. Then they told us we'd be on call Thanksgiving and the day after even though no one we supported was open. Sucks...that's one reason I opened my own company. My "bonus" this year is a Sabre M5 upper :-) Last year...no bonus. Next year...who knows...but it's up to me to decide
  13. Greg Knox at HGR firearms holds instructor classes as well. Still not E TN however, he's in Gallatin

    1911, why?

I carry a 1911 in condition 1 every day 1911s have a much better natural pointablity to me than any other handgun. The thin profile iads in carrying IWB and in concealment in general 9 rounds on board plus 2 spare 8 rounders should handle any problem I encounter 1911s look bada$$ on your hip it shoot a big honking 230 grain bullet that hits hard Recoil (in my opinion) is very controllable for fast followup shots even with 230 grain +p loads

    Security cameras

what type of cameras are they
  16. You can come out to Brush Creek and shoot IDPA on the 22nd with me. Brush Creek is the other side of Lebanon. Going out I40E it takes about 30 to 45 minutes to get there. I try to arrive about 12:30. They shoot the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month. Gallitan Gun Club also has IDPA matches, but I'm not sure if the dates.
  17. Ah the life of a geek. I had a firewall dump on my largest client yesterday so I feel your pain. Nothing like spending a Saturday/Sunday in a server room.
  18. So far...not any REAL problems. Simba..the queen/diva of the home is not taking to him very well yet. No real fights..but tons and tons and tons. or barking. I've had to intervene twice so far. He's trying to be a good member of the pack until I have to scold Simba, then he decided to get into it. Right now I've got Simba at my feet just staring at Zeus who is curled up on his bed snoring at everyone He's not going to like me very much in a couple of weeks when we take him into the fex to get fixed.
  19. 59 pounds...
  20. He's a good boy. He's still living next door until we make sure he doesn't have worms. Don't want our other dog to get anything. We went over last night with water and milk bones. It was the 1st time I actually met him. Hind of stand offish, but sweet once he figured out my pocket was the milkbone storehouse. :-) he's dehydrated and is only 590 pounds according to the vet. The wife have no problems with him at all taking him to the vet by herself last night. I think...as long as our current dog doesn't have any issues we'll be fine. I've decided his name is now Zeus.
  21. nudging the prices up bit due to cost increases is acceptable, Some of the price hikes and the ZOMFG WE'RE DOOOOOMMMMED...quick, mark that pmag up to 40.00 is gouging...plain and simple. Capitalism is turning a profit, gouging is playing on the fears of the buying public in order to turn a higher profit...at your own peril. This too shall pass...hopefully the buying public will have a long memory
  22. back story- House next door is rental property. The owner does a good job screening the people pretty well. The current renter(s) are college girls who didn't want to stay in the dorms. Friends over, no problems. They love dogs...especially Boxers. One of them brought one home as a rescue. Now...they are moving out. The dog left, was brought back, left again, and now is back again. He looks awful, skinny, bad breath, no food or water. My wife nad her sister flew into a FIT when they saw him. They cleaned up the trash he strewed all over the yard, took him some food and water. Now...my wife comes home, calls the girl...1st words out of her mouth to the girl is "what the H#LL is going on with Laredo (The Boxer) Long story short, the girl tried to take him back and they won't answer the phone or the door now so she had to bring him back. She's moving a apartment had can't keep him. She was going to put him on Craigslist. My wife said screw that...I want him. They evidently came to some arrangement So...now we have a 14 year old Shelard/Chow mix with hip dysplasia and apparently a 3 year old Boxer will be coming to live with us sooner rather than later. I was in the office working when the wife came in, kissed my face and said I'll be right back, I'm taking *Rob* to the vet to see why he's so skinny. So much for waiting until Simba (Shepard/Chow mix) passes on, and getting Dobermans....
  23. yea...this isn't THAT kind of forum...besides I think you have to go out of the country to have that work done
  24. Welcome from another Donelsonite
