    Iowa Flooding

I'd bet the people in Iowa are too busy cleaning up and rebuilding rather than sitting on their butts and waiting for someone else to help them
  2. The Volunteer Gun Club (you do not have to be a member) holds IDPA shoots every other weekend. As far as I know, that's the only time the range is open. It's a privately owned range on one of the club members property. It's a nice way to shoot IDPA with a smaller group of people. If you're not familiar wiith IDPA, search for "brush Creek" on the board and check out some of the videos from past shoots.
  3. Who's planning on attending?
  4. you forgot: That Obama would be a great president
  5. amen brother. The one that gets me the most is the idea that it's safer to leave my pistol in the car than on my hip because the mexican joint sells beer
  6. If you're in Nashville, I've been told( by the RSOs) that SBRs and full auto goodies can be cut loose with over at the TWRA range on Hobson Pike....I'd just make sure I had all the proper paperwork with me.
  7. If Opry Mills Security geta wind of this...we're doomed:death: Wheel scary: Chinese anti-terror police practice killing drills on scooters Chinese elite anti-terror police officers are wheeling into action ahead of next month's Beijing Olympics on two-wheeled scooters. Members of the country's armed police unit practised on the Segway models that have been re-named 'Anti-Terror Assault Vehicles' in the eastern province of Shandong. Killers: Despite the strange appearance of the scooters, the Chinese ant-terror police are lethal in action Officials have bought 100 Segways and painted some in military camouflage to patrol airports and sporting venues during the Games. In one drill, police posing as terrorists held ten badminton audience members hostage, 'shooting dead' four 'hijackers', capturing two and defusing a mock car bomb. The exercise was to test the province's emergency response and involved 1,500 people. The Segway was the brainchild of American Dean Kamen, who claimed at its 2001 launch that it would make the car obsolete in congested cities. It has since been the object of some derision, however. The two-wheeled self-balancing machine - powered by an electric motor - allows users to travel as fast as 12.5mph while standing up.
  8. I've had great luck with: Spikes Tactical Lowers DPMS parts kit for the lower Rock River Arms or Doublestar uppers. Build it the way you want it...then you'll come up with more ideas...optics, stocks, fore ends, etc. It never ends
  9. 230 grain HST JHPs or Hornady TAP +Ps
  10. Got one on order for my EB (SS/ Chain link) right now. I am a BIG fan of magwells on my 1911s.
  11. heh...great minds think alike...that's the course she took http://www.rad-systems.com/tn.html
  12. My wife's boss just completed a self defense/rape prevention class that included some self defense hand on...well knees on :-) stuff. It was through the Nashville PD. I'll see if I can get a actual class name for you. Perhaps it's offered closer to your area as well. Of course..Todd over at CIS runs an impressive class, as well as others.
  13. damn Len...that's awful...you didn't tell Knox did you? you'll never live it down
  14. Now...starring Len.......BRUSH CREEK IDPA Stage Two [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AceGh-PtOB8[/ame]
  15. I'll have them up by the morning. they're not the best...but they're not too bad. It's hard to film blind stages :-)
  16. Didn't like the 1 second between us when you were shooting the 1911 eh :-)
  17. Is it possible to have a SBR registered to a person, then move it to a trust?
  18. I like Spikes. I've built two of them and I've had zero issues with either of them. One has a Doublestar upper on it, one has a Rock River upper. I like the DPMS parts kit over the Doublestar ones... just my opnion
  19. yea...the 100 year old design kept on plugging away...dirt...mud...dodging flying Glock parts :-) I did take my mags apart Sat night and clean them up a bit however. A little CLP...Miltec and a blast of compressed air...ready to go. I was surprised that I DIDN'T have any issues...esp with the double feed drills. I thought the piece of dummy round that got ripped off was wondering around in there somewhere.
  20. nope...in a populated area, just popping off rounds for no reason is plain stupid. No matter if there wasn't a ball loaded or not. You're right...the police wouldn't look at it that way. Your neighbor would have a Glock in his ear
  21. A magwell on a fighting pistol helps I like flat mainspring housings on 1911s I didn't get a chance to do the side by side that Tungsten did...I was too busy playing with the suppressed full auto goodies, but I don't agree that a pistol can't be improved upon. Too many compromises made in order to market them to the largest possible market. The right changes can make a good gun better.
  22. Did you get my good side....more importantly...can you tell me WHAT my good side is :-) The class was great. There is ALWAYS more to learn in any field...shooting is no different. I ran into some ammo issues, plenty of mental blocks, but Todd and Dustin were right there to help you work through any issue and give encouragement and pointers to keep it from happening next time. There were things that were completely new ideas that almost seem counterintuitive (combat reload...racking the slide even if it's not @ slide lock to insure a hot round in the pipe) but it would make a pistol more "stupid proof" I've never had muscle soreness after a training class...but I'm hurting today. Some of the shoot and move drills will wear you down...unless you're Eddie :-) (note...don't shoot pins against Eddie) I strongly recommend if you're interested in additional handgun training to check out CIS. Their price is right, round count is about right on for the type of training it is and the instructors make it interesting all the way through. Todd and Dustin are not armchair commandos and you won't be a super secret spec op ninja when you leave, but you WILL have a much better handle on using a pistol for more than punching paper.
  23. ...hummm...that list sounds familiar wonder if I'll run into you...somewhere
