  1. LOL it was so long ago that I got it I had to look it up. It's a Rukus model, the blade is 4.25.
  2. Maybe I'll be finally be able to carry the Christmas gift my wife gave me......like 7 years ago. Very exciting.
  3.   That's too bad, but it's best not to push it I'd say. See ya next time.
  4.   No disrespect, but that is NOT good information. The only thing that catches the hammer is the sear. The disconnect is what resets in front of the sear. The hammer/sear relationship is a constant. As soon as the slide starts to cycle, it pushes the disconnect down releasing the sear from the trigger/disconnect. At that point, the sear is pushed by the sear spring toward the hammer to catch the hammer hooks. Pinning the trigger and dropping the slide will prevent trigger bounce and thus perhaps hammer follow. Hammer follow can (particularly on a series 80 hammers) really damage the nose of the sear when the hammer falls to half cock. Pinning the trigger and the racking the slide does recreate the actual cycle, but the hammer still engages the sear. WIthout the sear, the hammer has nothing to stop its travel.
  5. I think letting the slide slam home is just bad gun etiquette. Imagine if you were showing someone your new car and after checking out the interior, they grabbed the door and slammed it shut really hard. That would kinda irritate me. Doubt it would hurt it much, but I don't want it done over and over either.    Dolomite touched on much of what I would say about the 1911. The only thing I would add is that the barrel hood is what pushes the barrel forward and up into battery, so without the round, the hood slams against the breach face really hard. Not good. Also, the the forward movement of the slide is stopped by the barrel feet making contact with the slide stop. Again something I don't want slammed together over and over. Then you have the trigger stuff that Dolomite talked about. One needs to remember that with top parts and labor, one can get a good deal of money in a 2 pound trigger that is really sweet. I walk the slide home on every gun I touch even the plastic ones. Particularly if they don't belong to me.   $.02
  6. Is it not going into battery the last  1/4" or so?? If so, this is a barrel throating issue. Case gauging or loading to standard OAL will not tell you what you need to know.
  7. Must be a pic there, but it is not loading.
  8. So, just not going the last 1/4"??? Not sure what the malfunction is.........?
  9. I liked it when it was a race it on Sunday and sell it on Monday sport. When I was a little kid I loved watching big E drive the tires off that Monte Carlo and still win with the tires smoking. It was awesome. I watched all my life until they all went to the same frame. I hate restrictor plate racing too but put up with it. The frame was just the last straw for me. If it ever goes back to "stock car" racing..........I'll watch again. The winner of the D-500 should not be the race winner, but best drafter with enough buddies to help award.   $.02
  10. We all need to contact them and thank them for doing this!!!! This is awesome!!!
  11.   +1000   If the 2nd Amendment is about hunting and skeet shooting, then the 1st is about scrabble and crossword puzzles. :-)
  12. Personally, there are certain malfunctions I can dismiss as a "break-in" issue and malfunctions that I would first assume are not. Failure to extract is one that I would first look at the gun. If you see abnormal marks in the chamber then I would guess that is your culprit more than likely. An M&P should not require a break-in IMO.
  13. The new ATF director scares the Heck out of me.....
  14. I hope every gun manufacturer moves from states like NY and IL. Moreover, I believe it is time that the manufacturers ban together and start refusing sale and service to states that pass and support such nonsense. Ronnie Barrett did that in CA and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that man.
  15.   That is exactly right.   I've heard many say that the idea of citizens going up against a "future" tyrannical US government is just fantasy even if ARs and such were legal. I then quickly remind them of Afghanistan during the 80's when a ragtag army using nothing but small arms gave a world power all they could handle. Not to mention our own revolution where again the largest and most advanced army on the planet was bested by a vastly outgunned group of patriots. The will of the people, and a just cause, goes a long way when it comes to winning a war......
  16. I would love to see millions of these images being printed and mailed to washington by every gun owner in the US!!!
  17.   Maybe....   As long as it is not springing. Springing is when the barrel is pushed up into the slide lugs the bushing is wanting to push it back down. The gun can often function when the barrel is springing, but you will get stringing impacts as the barrel heats up.   Also, make sure that when the slide moves forward (on the frame) that the busing is not wanting to take the barrel with it. That will cause malfunctions.....potentially. The barrel should only be pushed back into battery when the barrel hood makes contact with the breach face forcing the barrel to link up.
  18. As always, I should stick to building guns instead of posting. I just hope I can still build the double stacks 6 months from now...   That is all...... :surrender:
  19.   I understand that, I have an FFL. You can say why do we have to let them pass anything, and that is fine, but I don't think that is reality. I don't think my point is moot though. They are going to focus on the guns no doubt.  Getting them to focus on the mental aspect is better than banning. And his mother was putting him in an institution btw.
  20.   I agree, but that is a bit of a stretch given the current climate/administration.
