I have an LC9, and like it for what it is, a concealable, lightweight, reliable 9mm. It serves that role admirably. The one thing that irks me, is when people try to make it out to be more than what it is. Yes a G19, or Sig 229 or whatever, will be a better shooting gun, because it IS larger than said LC9. But, the smaller gun is more concealable, lighter, and over time, will more than likely be there when you need it than one of the larger pistols. As an example, I started out carrying a full size 1911 for years, then I downsized to a G19 for years. Now, 99% of the time, because of the clothes that I wear, I carry an LCP in my front pocket. It might have tiny sights, and lower stopping power, but at least it's there. That's the same way I feel about the LC9. But hey, that's just my two cents.

I and several of my friends have SR556's. We all love them. They shoot great and run great! Much cleaner and cooler than are regular DI gun. If I were to recommend a version of this rifle to someone, I would go with the "C" model, its a little shorter and much lighter in the front end.

I know you are an admin on rugerforum.com.....but how do you know this? I'm not being a dick.....just curious because I might have a slight insight into this and was just curious. PM me if you care to, please.

Thanks for clarifying. I will agree that in the past some of the Ruger products were not very accurate. However, it seems in recent years they have made a concerted effort to improve said accuracy. I know they revamped the mini 14 to improve accuracy, and I have to examples of newer bolt guns that are very accurate. I have one of their tactical 308 bolt guns that shoots 1/4 MOA all day with match grade ammo, and I recently purchased a stainless Hawkeye in 280 rem. that is shooting 3/4 MOA with good quality hunting ammo.

What do you find that Ruger produces that is "mediocre"? Their single actions, both fixed sight and adjustable sighted versions are well established as tough, accurate guns that many people, including Bowen use as the base for custom builds. Their piston driven AR is one of the best on the market, and is by far the most affordable of the piston guns in the "they actually work" category. Their 22 pistols are legendary for accuracy and durability. Their double action wheelguns are very near indistructable. The only product I might give you is their bolt guns. While not head and shoulders above the rest, they are at least on par with other decent makers. At least in my opinion. So you make take it for what it's worth.

You are correct. The 9c has a small warning on the frame on the right side. As to the 1911, I'm quite certain it will be a damned good one!!

I have always liked the 357 SIG round. It has more energy than the 9mm, has a different less snappy recoil than that of the 40 and is a more reliable round due to its bottle neck design. I personally have a Glock 31 that I love. My wife swaps between carrying a 1911 and her Sig 239 in 357 Sig. My dad switches back and forth between a Glock 30Sf and a Glock 33 in 357 Sig. My mother keeps both a Taurus Judge and a Sig 239 in 357 Sig as her house guns.

I would tell CDNN that they effed up and need to send the damned mag. It's not up to your FFL to deal with that. You paid for it, you didn't receive it...simple as that!! But hey, that's my two cents.

A few years ago, I traded a Kahr K40 for an older Savage 110 Tactical with an aftermarket trigger and a c note. I couldn't have made a better deal. As a marine sniper I REALLY appreciate accurate rifles. I have several remingtons, and a couple Ruger tacticals, and this Savage is the most consistently accurate gun. One of my Rugers will group right at 1/4 MOA, but with select ammo. My savage will shott under 1 MOA all day long with any ammo, including WWB. Savage makes a damned accurate rifle, and the older non accu trigger versions hold up. I've got over 1500 rounds through mine (along with who knows how many before I bought it) and it keeps on running great!

If memory serves, it was in preperation for the rapid fire portion of the rifle range. I'm sure it was fed from a magazine.

I happen to work for a major firearms company. I am a marine reservist, did several years active duty as well. Anyway we will be looking at adding people to our LE/military side. In the millions of rounds I have seen go down range running Marine Corps ranges, I have seen exactly ONE slam fire!!! It scared the living crap out of the PFC that it happened to. Ofcourse, I went berzerk thinking that he had done something wrong, even made the poor boy cry kicking him off the range as a "safety violator"....until the block NCO told me what had happened. I even aplogized to the poor kid and let him back on the range.

And my personal 581 series mini keeps everything within 1 to 2 inches open sights at 100 yards.

Ruger really made an effort about 5 years ago to improve the accuracy of the mini's, hence the 58o and 581 prefix. I was talking to the head armoror of the Michigan Dept. of Corrections a few months ago, and he said in their accuracy tests, the new minis beat out several top brand AR's. Hence the fact they still have several thousand mini's in inventory and continue to buy them.

In the next week, my wife Kimber deploys to Iraq. While I have been to that lovely desert oasis several times, this will be my wife's first overseas tour. She is a combat medic in the TN National Guard. What worries me, is she will be escorting convoys out of Iraq on a daily basis. Again, having been there, I know how the lowlife insurgents operate, and only worry that they will try to make "a statement" by hitting as many convoys as they can when the U.S. forces withdraw from Iraq. I ask all my fellow TGO members to keep her and her fellow soldiers in your prayers, as they (the 230th) help us finish what we started March 20th, 2003........ Thank You All!!! I have two P95's. One is the standard DA/SA and one is the DAO version. I have over 2000 rounds through the DAO version without a single thought of a malfunction. P95's are way UNDERATED because of their cost. I would use my DAO version anytime, anyplace!

Yes you did!!! And that is one of the reasons I said I'm sold. But I wanted to know about the mag interchangeablity because I have more than 30 M9 mags.

+10000 on adopting rescues!!! I have five rescue dogs and one rescue cat and I wouldn't trade them for the world. Rescue dogs are generally much more affectionate than normal dogs because they know they have it good now. My great dane is a perfect example of that. She was bought by a family, but as soon as she got too big, they threw her outside and never messed with her. They even bought a Yorkie or something that was more house appropriate. Well, they ended up moving and couldn't take the Dane with thim, so we got her. Now, she only goes outside when she has to do her business, and loves sleeping on the bed when I or my wife are not in town. She may not be the smartest dog, but she is the most affectionate and most loyal of the bunch!

I think I'm sold as well!! One question though, does it use standard M9/92fs mags or are they unique to the cougar?

I love my SR40. I'm not normally a fan of the 40, but this is THE smoothest easiest shooting 40 I've ever fired. I've got over 1000 rounds through mine, with no malfunctions at all. Excellent choice!!

I keep seeing these every once in awhile and have wanted to pick one up, but have never heard how the Stoeger version performs. If yours does well, I might have to break down and buy one next time I see one.

I still say the way to inpress your DI is to show up with a "motto" tat..................................yeah..that's the ticket. Other than that, I'll keep my mouth shut....I think I ripped the poolee enough on the other Marine related thread......I never wanted to be a hat.
