  1. In todays climate anyone that resists any assault is liable to get in a law suit. I don't trust the system or lawyers. Saying that I have four SG around the house and four dogs. Now the kids are not very large. It is just the warning system I need with my bad hearing. They all stand less than knee height so I have a free fire zone of all vital areas. I like scatter guns for social work and have several different examples. By my bed is a Legacy sports O/U with 18" barrels and a lower pr. Gym bag gun is a Winchester md.12 because it takes down easy. Pistol grip shotguns are for movies and people who think they are cool, like those that shoot pistols sideways. The illusion of the length advantage is nullified by several disadvantages in the actual use of the gun. As to loads for the home I have no preference. The range that is covered still puts a mass of lead in a very small swarm. For outside confrontations Number 4 or 00 Buck or a Slug is the way to go.
  2. Spent all day shooting with them Wen. before the show. Guns are pricey but nothing out there I've seen is as cool looking or as detailed put together. They are very nice people and make a well put together product. Will the market support the price? We will see.
  3. I have seen that for most full power loads that I shoot the sweet spot is in the realm of 15-16". BTW I like the Mauser camel gun a lot also the Enfield. The best use of these formats in my opinion are the suppressed versions. I like throwing concrete blocks at targets quietly.
  4. The furthest I would go is to my parents house. Due to the ages we have survived to It would be foolish for us to do anything else. I was raised in the cold war and my father was in civil defense. We have always stocked food, medical supplies, and other essentials. I happen to be in worse physical shape than both my parents due to heart issues and diabetes. That is my main concern. I have tried to keep at least 30 days of daily meds ahead of my needs. Life has gotten so much more simple for me. I don't have to store anything longer than my meds will last. Except ammo You don't know how many trolls you might need to greet with extreme prejudice. ;)
  5. That CD rides in my truck and gets listened to a lot along with JC, Wagner, MOazart , John Winter, Redbone, Jethro Tull , CDB, . The list goes on. I can't remember all the music I have loved in my life. I even can stand some RAP. Being born in the south does not mean all you like is country.
  6. Have one and the .22 conversion kit. It is a very good shooter.
  7. Sam Hoster Gallatin. 615-206-0075. He makes his own 1911 pistols and long guns. Cheers, ts
  8. Very clean and good looking build. Good to see a rifle instead of a carbine.  What sights did you put on?
  9. My father collected Colt Commemoratives when I was growing up. Most of them are either lower or equal to what the same std model would be worth today. None of them have been fired at this time. I like factory engraved pistols and shoot every one of them. A gun is to be shot or it is just another sculpture. I am going to put them up for sale shortly. Just fancy limited edition shooters  for someone new.
  10. If you go back to the beginning the seminal design was for a low recoil, accurate target rifle before the military version was designed. .  Could be wrong. Also the Military rifle and caliber was to lower the weight of rifle and ammo. The caliber was meant to wound the enemy as opposed to killing them.
  11. I don't consider plastic guns to be collectables unless they are  toy guns. They fit into the tool category for me. One should always have a .357 revolver. At least one SA revolver.  War guns 1911, BHP, p-38, Luger are always going to be interesting and available. Admittedly some more pricy than others. Rule is get what you like. I'm hugely vested in Smith N frames, BHP, and Colts. Lucky to have been given some of them by my father.
  12. Had one in my hand at the shot show last year but haven't fired one. Grip is still just to big for me. Cool project for comic books just not practical in the real world.
  13. Have one for testing. Jury is still out on it. Good quality but think you can get the same results from any well designed less expensive trigger. Would suggest that one get a good quality non adjustable trigger for any AR. Less small parts/springs much more reliable.
  14. One of the three guns that will be with me until I die is my fathers Colt Python four inch. In another life time he was on the Nashville PD pistol team. His Python cost 86.37 ordered direct from Colt, delivered to Cater Hardware, custom tuned for competition. That should give you an idea of how old it is. It has never had anything other than .38 mid range wadcutters and never shot over a breathing pace. Gun is like new and has the box, paperwork and receipt. One of the three guns I can  consistently shoot well, even on a bad day. It's also funny that the other two pistols I shoot well are also old Colts.   Colt will never again have the quality of revolvers as in the past. They have not continued the training to have what amounts to custom pistol smiths as employees. Bottom line is it takes more skill and time to produce. The closest thing manufactured today is the Korth. Look at what they cost. Also the market is not there since Few competition sports use revolvers and police departments issue plastic pistols.   Just my opinion and I'm sticking to it.   BTW I love my N frame Smith's. Not a Colt snob , just like good machines.
  15. Original Springfield full dust cover TRP OPERATOR. Best shooting 1911 I have ever owned. Including the WIlson, Ed Brown customs.
  16. Not harmless just warped. Could you trust anyone that states "poison them or cut their throats in their sleep". Next they will justify adding long pig to their larder.
