  2. One of the best hat makers in the country is up the road in Covington, Tn. The shop is only open to customers on the weekends. The rest of their time is spent making hats. They are definitely not cheap but they make something for everyone. https://www.buckaroohatters.com/ I had this one made on a whim. Out of one of my favorite movies.
  3. I joined the Navy the day after my 18th birthday in '62. Put in 21 years, 15 of which were sea duty, working in an electrical/mechanical field. After I retired, I went to work for the Postal Service and worked as an Electronics Tech maintaining and repairing the mail sorting equipment at the Mail Distribution Center in Memphis. I retired from there after 26 years in 2009. I've had more hobbies than I care to count. Most were doing things with my hands and didn't require my traveling too far from home, wooden ship models, leather work, oil painting, photography, gun kits, reloading... etc. I would stay with a hobby until I felt competent, then move on to something else. My wife used to say "The only consistent hobby I've had was collecting hobbies"
  4. Just a reminder to those who have older cell phones or information for those who haven't heard about this. Mobile carriers are shutting down their 3G networks, which rely on older technology, to make room for more advanced network services, including 5G. As a result, many older cell phones will be unable to make or receive calls and texts, including calls to 911, or use data services. This will affect 3G mobile phones and certain older 4G mobile phones that do not support Voice over LTE (VoLTE or HD Voice). As early as January 1, 2022, though plans and timing to phase out 3G services will vary by company and may change. Consult your mobile provider’s website for the most up-to-date information. AT&T announced that it will finish shutting down its 3G network by February 2022. Verizon announced that will finish shutting down its 3G network by December 31, 2022. T-Mobile announced that it will finish shutting down Sprint's 3G network by January 1, 2022 and Sprint's LTE network by June 30, 2022. It also plans to shut down T-Mobile's 2G and 3G networks, but has not yet announced a date. https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/plan-ahead-phase-out-3g-cellular-networks-and-service

  8. If you don't get the jab, we'll let you die. This is the second instance of this I've heard of. Two of the largest hospitals in Northeast Ohio will now require their transplant candidates and living donors to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. https://www.foxbusiness.com/healthcare/ohio-hospitals-covid-19-vaccinations-donors
  9. The FBI was investigating a shooting at a Tennessee post office Tuesday where three employees, including the suspected shooter, died, authorities said. The shooting occurred at the Orange Mound post office, and the Memphis Police Department was assisting with securing the perimeter, the police force tweeted. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service, the law enforcement arm of the Postal Service, told Fox News the shooting occurred at the facility called the East Lamar Carrier Annex. https://www.foxnews.com/us/tennessee-postal-killed-post-office

  16. Just when you started thinking the Postal Service couldn't get any worse Mail delivery for many Americans will slow starting on Friday, part of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's blueprint for overhauling the U.S. Postal Service in order to slash costs. But critics say the slower delivery standards could cause problems such as late bill delivery while more broadly undermining the public's faith in the USPS. Almost 4 of 10 pieces of first-class mail will see slower delivery, according to Paul Steidler, senior fellow at the Lexington Institute and an expert on the postal service. That "means mail delivery will be slower than in the 1970s," he said, calling DeJoy's plan "disastrous." Starting tomorrow, the postal service's current three-day delivery standard for first-class mail — letters, bills, tax documents and the like — will drop to delivery anywhere within the U.S. within five days. In other words, Americans should now expect that letters and other mail could take up to five days to reach their destinations, and vice versa. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/mail-delivery-slower-usps-october-1/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&linkId=134045304
