No such luck As soon as USA bought it, they moved everything to Jackson. That big ol' building they had downtown is sitting there empty.

The Commercial Appeal was never what I'd call a great newspaper but since it was taken over by USA Today it's definitely taken a turn for the worse. Besides being a leftist rag it's also behind on everything (usually). It seems like any national or international news appears in the paper two days late so the only thing it's up to date on is the body count in Memphis. I said before, 'usually'. This morning's paper, Oct/5/2018 had a section that was from the future

He's supposed to arrive in the Memphis area tomorrow afternoon about the same time of day.

I think if I was them, I'd be stopping every U-Haul between Memphis and Chicago. They'd be a lot easier to offload up there.

Just what the city needs, more guns on the street MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Memphis Police Department are investigating after hundreds of guns were stolen over the weekend. According to the agencies, two men driving a U-Haul vehicle pulled up to the UPS facility at 1803 Brooks Road in Memphis and took off with 400 guns. Up to $5,000 is being offered to anyone with information that leads to an arrest and conviction of those responsible. If you know anything call the ATF at (800) ATF-GUNS or the Memphis Police Department at (901) 528-2274. https://wreg.com/2018/10/01/authorities-400-guns-stolen-from-ups-facility/

My little Sassy is on the nightstand next to my bed and I have written instructions that she is to go into the box with me. I too, am sorry for your loss.

I got this in an e-mail today. I have no idea if it's a good deal or not (not really interested in old guns) but thought I'd throw it out here. I've made a couple of purchases from this place and haven't had any problems.

Welcome aboard from another ex-chief. Don't feel bad about the kids joining the Army, I was an Army brat that joined the Navy

Welcome to the group from the west end.

There's a very good possibility that the post office was a small facility that only served the Observatory and people living there (their own zip code). If no one is left, there's no need for a post office.

Welcome to the group from the western end of the state and congratulations on your escape from California.

Welcome to the group from a northern neighbor (just over the county line in Tipton County).

I do the same thing at Girl Scout cookie booths if the girls are polite and well mannered. I just tell the adult in charge that it's a donation directly to the troop. My wife used to run the cookie sales for our girl's troop and I was somewhat ticked off that the troop only got something like $.25 for each box sold.

I wish someone had thought of this when our kids were in school. It would have been a lot cheaper in the long run photoupload

It must be getting close, all the doves are leaving the fields and congregating in my yard

So much for background checks The gunman who opened fire on a "Madden NFL 19" tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, on Sunday was hospitalized previously for mental illness, according to court records. Divorce filings from the parents of 24-year-old David Katz of Baltimore showed that as a teenager he was hospitalized twice in psychiatric facilities and was prescribed anti-psychotic and anti-depressant medications, The Associated Press first reported Monday. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/08/27/jacksonville-gaming-tournament-shooter-had-been-hospitalized-for-mental-illness-documents-show.html

I'm on the same thing, Plavix and low dose aspirin and yes, it's a pain in the butt. I can't even mow the yard without a blackberry bush jumping out and grabbing me. It won't hurt to at least try the pepper. As I said, it hardens the blood and with a tight bandaid it creates a pressure point right on the cut.

For reasons I won't go into, I highly recommend that you not stop taking it until you talk to your doctor. In the meantime, this is your friend: When you get a cut, dump some pepper on it until you build up a nice mound. It soaks up the blood and something in it makes the blood congeal and harden. Blow off the excess and slap a nice tight bandaid on it. If it seeps through, put another one on top of it. (I've never had to use more than two). You just need to keep it dry for a few days. The ash tray in my truck used to be full of the little pepper packets from fast food joints and bandaids
