  4. This is certainly not going to help getting armed people in the schools A teacher at a California high school has been placed on administration leave after accidentally firing his gun in during a class and reportedly injuring three students. Dennis Alexander, a teacher at Seaside High School and reserve officer with the Sand City Police Department, was teaching an “Administration of Justice” class Tuesday when he pointed his firearm at the ceiling during a lesson and accidentally shot it. The police department, which did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment, told The Associated Press that Alexander had pointed his gun at the ceiling to make sure it was not loaded when the weapon discharged. The Monterey Peninsula Unified School District told Fox News in a statement that an immediate investigation “determined that there was no immediate threat to students or staff,” however one student’s father told KSBW-TV that his son suffered moderate injuries. Fermin Gonzales said his 17-year-old son was injured when bullet fragments lodged in his neck after ricocheting off the ceiling. “It’s the craziest thing. It could have been very bad,” Gonzalez told the news station, adding his son is “shaken up” but is “going to be OK.” “I'm just pretty upset that no one told us anything and we had to call the police ourselves to report it,” the father added. Alexander was placed on administrative leave from both his teaching job and the police department, where KSBW reported he’s been a reserve police officer for 11 years. The incident came the same day as a school resource officer at a Virginia middle school also accidentally fired his gun while children were attending classes. Additionally, a county sheriff in Michigan apologized, also on Tuesday, for accidentally leaving his gun in the locker room bathroom of a middle school over the weekend. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/03/14/teacher-accidentally-fires-gun-in-class-students-injured.html

  8. Check out PSA's rifle kits. You have to build the lower (with stripped lower provided by you) but the upper comes complete.
  9. I just left Guns and Ammo on Summer and they still have a huge selection on the shelf. I'd suggest taking a look at the ones they have to see if one style strikes your fancy. If you decide to build, I have a pretty detailed step by step instruction sheet. Mine has the post and it doesn't interfere with the scope.
  10. Welcome to the group. My wife is from the outer banks.

  17. On the flip side, meet a hero. Meet Sgt. Jeff Heinrich of the Coral Springs Police Department. Sgt. Heinrich was off duty and unarmed at the time of the attack last week at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., but he was on campus watering one of the school’s athletic fields in just shorts and a T-shirt. Sgt. Heinrich’s wife is an assistant athletic director at the school, his son is on the football team. When he heard the shots — remember now, he’s unarmed — he dropped the hose and ran toward the sound of gunfire where he immediately helped a student who was wounded. Minutes later, he met up with a Coral Springs PD SWAT team member who gave him a vest and a backup weapon and the two of them then entered the school to help clear classrooms. Get some tissues handy as Sgt. Heinrich gets emotional toward the end when he talks about not knowing if his wife and son were OK while he was busy saving others: https://twitchy.com/gregp-3534/2018/02/23/stop-what-youre-doing-and-watch-this-coral-springs-pd-officer-talk-about-responding-to-the-stoneman-douglas-hs-attack/

  19. And this is why it will happen again ALTON — Authorities have charged an Alton High School student with a felony of disorderly conduct for allegedly threatening to “shoot up the place.” Justin L. Glen-Colley, 18, of the 700 block of Oakwood Avenue, Alton, was accused of threatening violence to people at the school in the presence of AHS faculty and staff. Authorities said he was quickly isolated. Bail was set at $20,000. The incident occurred Wednesday, and Glen-Colley was charged Thursday. Glen-Colley was not in custody as of Friday. There was no need to lockdown the school because the situation was secure, an attorney with the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office said. The suspect was escorted from school property and sent home. He is charged with a class 4 felony, punishable by a prison term of between one and three years. He may also be sentenced to up to 30 months probation. School officials could not be reached for comment Friday to determine what, if any, action will be taken by the district. http://www.thetelegraph.com/news/118194/ahs-student-charged-with-felony-after-allegedly-threatening-to-shoot-up-the-place
  20. One word............ Just joking of course, I think everyone else is watching the "Another Shooting" thread in general chat. BTW, your idea does sound pretty good.
  21. It just keeps getting worse A total of four Broward County Sheriff’s deputies failed to enter Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., during last week's mass shooting, according to a new report. On Friday, it was reported that Broward County Sheriff’s Deputy Scot Peterson, who served as the armed school resource officer, did not enter the school as the shooting occurred. But Peterson wasn’t the only one — three other Broward County Sheriff’s deputies also remained outside the school with their pistols drawn as they took cover behind their vehicles, CNN reports. Additionally, the Coral Springs police officers who arrived at the school later were frustrated and surprised that the sheriff’s deputies did not accompany them as they entered the school, sources told CNN. It’s uncertain if the shooter was present in the building once the Coral Springs police reached the school. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/four-broward-county-sheriffs-deputies-failed-to-enter-florida-high-school-during-shooting-report/article/2649914
  22. Another fail regarding the Florida shooting The police officer who was on patrol at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on Feb. 14 resigned Thursday after video surveillance showed he never entered the school, even though he "clearly" knew there was a shooting taking place. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/02/22/cop-assigned-to-florida-school-never-went-in-amid-shooting-sheriff-says.html

  24. Am I the only one that feels that there is something really odd about this? I don't think it was about stealing guns; if so, he would have just grabbed and ran. He took the time to load two and was working on the third. Even loading just one would make a person, at least me, believe that he was willing to shoot his way out of there. But three? it's possible the police might have prevented a mass shooting in Walmart.
