well technically, they don't owe you. you are just getting back the amount you overpaid and loaned them interest free for the past year. I have never felt the guberment owes you money after tax time, as stated, just returning your hard earned money less interest. JMTCW.....

Knoxville News Sentinel: Early Settlers Knew Gun Control Needed
ftncityfatboy replied to a topic in General Chat
FWIW, I believe Harry is an attorney here in Knoxville. I closed my house 18 yrs ago and the attorney's name was Harry Hogan. There is a Hogan & Hogan law firm located at the end of Gay Street bridge on the north side. Don't quote me on this, but how many Harry Hogan's can there be????? -

Need Good Snubby .38 Spl Reload For Wife
ftncityfatboy replied to E4 No More's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
if you want something good just for target practice, I load missouri semi-wadcutters, 158 grain, any spp, and accurate #2 powder - 4.1 grain. Accuracy is a good as I can be, grouping are "tight". Now as for SD, Hornady Critical Defense.....as others have stated, no reloads for SD. IANAL, YMMV -
Today I had decided to take my newly acquired Springer 1911 to the range and shoot it. So I get up this morning, put the belt and holster on a clean pair of pants, go do several things before puttering off to the range. My normal EDC is a Springfield XD9sc and I was prepared to test some new JHP reloads in the 9mm flavor. So's I get to the range, throw about 50 rounds thru the 1911, put my target for the 9mm, reached to take my 9mm out of the holster and it was not there! I had the most empty feeling in my gut I had to take a minute and sit down, and do some quick thinking as to what could have possibly happened. As it were, I usually store the subbie in another room during the night, and I had simply forgotten to holster it that morning prior to leaving the house. BUT, I can not relay to you that feeling in the pit of my stomach......I know I must have turned three shades of pale!!!! So the moral is: Double check your holster before leaving the house to make sure you EDC is in it......

Making some 1911 grips
ftncityfatboy replied to ftncityfatboy's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Quarter sliced....I didn't properly name it. But yes, as you described. I don't think there will be a problem with strength. We will see... -
so do any of these places offer discounts on other items besides C&R if you have the FFL03? IE: ammo, holsters, accessories, etc...

congrats, I got mine today as well, I will copy all the suggestions and register as well!!! Woot!!!!

In the beginning phase of making a pair of grips for my newly acquired Springfield 1911. I was given a piece of burnt oak, 3/4" x 36", and it has been reversed cut. By that I mean instead of cutting the log in a plain slice method which is cutting so the grain is exposed in a "laid out pattern", it has been "cross cut" so the grain is at a 90 degree angle. I know thats confusing, but its a unique piece of wood. Anyway, I drew the grips out on the board last night and drilled holes for the grip screws and the saw dust looked like coffee grinds. I applied a little dark stain on one end of the board and the effect is beautiful. I will post pixs as I get further along, this will be my first attempt at this sort of thing so if I chuck it after a while, I will chalk one up for experience!!!

welcome!!! As you will soon find out, there is nothing better than a Springfield and you will most likely add to the collection. I own three springers and love them all!!! Post often and stay late. When you say you paint, do you mean like car paint or house paint? Good to know someone else if you ever needed a hand. Where is your preferred place to shoot?

Sometime this morning or around noon my fellow TGO'ers, we all need to drop to our knees and say a LENGTHY prayer for those ever so few demosnots who are riding the fence on the Obamacare plan. Only four (4) more yes votes are needed to pass this piece of bill. Need I say more?

what? $*%$$@#((*$$(*@*@@))$$*()_)@#_, and further more - (#*$))_(#*$*))_____#(($#*$*$%%&*@#$. Now let me tell you how I really feel about "free" healthcare"!

158 gr swc's is what i use for throwing downrange (except when Tnvolfan makes me some holler points). 125 gr rn for 9mm, getting ready to order some for .45 - BTW, just scored a Springfield 1911-A1 Champion couple of weeks ago. Bartered some labor for it!!!

I'm getting ready to go out to the barn and do some piddling around, I'll look up some formula's. I can remember typically on .38 spl a good round will travel +/- 850 fps. Those seem to be more accurate. Are you reloading lead or fmj?

hitler knew that the first thing he had to do to obtain a strong hold on his sheeple was to re-educate the children. Teach them what guberment wants them to know....sounds familiar
