If you want to stick with .40, I think the Sig 224 is the best option (again for .40) Glock 27 would be my 2nd choice.

I pocket carry a Sig p238 in a Desantis Superfly holster. While not the MOST fun to shoot, it IS manageable and aim-able.

To me the mark of great service is not IF they are going to make a mistake--who does not make mistakes?--But HOW they fix the mistakes. In my experience you get what you pay for both with the weapons and with CS. The better the weapon, the better the CS.

(I was, of course, kidding). I have several Colts including a brand new in box Anaconda .44 and its twin that I have fired. I love them both! I would of course buy it for $500 but am not trying to suggest that should be the asking price. Without knowing more about the condition, I could not speculate.--EDIT--I can see the pictures now. Looks to be in good condition. Likely more than my original bid. Guess I am out.

I would say about $500. In fact, Ill buy it.

I consider trigger (both pull and reset) to be one of the most important aspects in my choices of weapons (right behind reliability, which is MOST important). Many do not agree with this, but it is my opinion. If that is important to you, then go with a weapon with a better trigger--who cares what anyone else thinks. There are plenty of guys around who have made REAL fortunes modifying and improving triggers--for a reason. Yes I CAN shoot weapons with bad triggers--I just don't like to. Get what you like. Don't shoot and certainly don't carry what you don't like (unless you want to, then do.)

I don't personally always open carry. I wonder if there is a smaller pocket carry version?

I once got berated on a college football website for commenting on a post about "Mountain Lions" and seeing them (I had one in my yard in Mt Juliet one night). The guy said I knew NOTHING about animals (I have a degree in Zoology from UT and a Doctorate). He had over 14,000 posts on this site in just a few years. My answer was that anyone with 14,000 posts on a college football website in that period of time (amounted to like 190 posts per day) must have a CONSIDERABLE amount of time on their hands? Wonder how he could be such an expert in SO many things? For the record, Mountain Lion sightings have become fairly common around Tennessee and now anytime someone sees one or it makes the news, people tag us both which leads to 100 more comments from that guy. Higher ratings do not always equal better status.

I got burned many years ago in an online transaction to the tune of around 3k. (Was NOT a firearms transaction). Since then I have been very careful and have not been burned again. I do not send money orders. I always investigate "feedback" on sites. (just because someone has 100 feedback points does not make the reputable. One person that I checked out had bought 100 songs for $0.10 each.) I exclusively use services like Paypal and buy from reputable sources or in face to face transactions.

There is always the Texas concept of the BBQ gun, the Court Gun, and the every day gun. My BBQ gun would clearly be a Stainless Snake Gun! Court Gun a Sig 220 10mm. Neither would be my choice for daily carry. For daily carry, I subscribe to the ".380 in my pocket is better than the .44 Magnum in my safe" concept.

To fire hundreds of rounds rapidly? Sabre XR-15 Massad Ayoob Edition. To get lead downrange? (or grab when I hear a bump in the night?) Remington 870.

I am not a 1911 guy but do have a Dan Wesson .44 Magnum that I love. Are these mostly the CZ owned Dan Wessons or the pre Cz models (or is there a difference)?

I think you will find this forum to be pretty tolerant of differing opinions and full of reliable authorities. Most "caliber war" conversations are pretty tongue in cheek (I said most) and I have found pretty good advice in replies on almost everything I have posted.

I got a Sig Legion 226 there for $1168 (pre tax) which I could not find ANYWHERE locally (Nashville area). $1168 was a cheap as I could find (price wise) anywhere.

Looks like it has a few things that fix some issues I have with Glock. 1 is the restrike, which I do like. The second is the takedown mechanism which I always have hated about the Glock. Now to see if it goes bang every time, like Glocks do (one of my favorite feature on ANY weapon).

I have lubed all of my weapons with frog lube. So far none have rusted and all have gone bang. Of course, several of my weapons (like my Grandfather's Colt Agent .38) are older than me and were already not rusted and already went bang--so i dont know really how to compare. It has not seemed to hurt any of them? I did not get the grease, just the CLP.

229 is still my favorite of all my pistols. I have a 224 that is great because it is like a little 229. I have a 226 Legion that I pick up tomorrow that I hope to love. I have a 220 10 mm that I love because it is a like a big 229. But my 229 is still the one I love.

When I was talking to my NYC cop buddy, I asked about his duty weapon choices. He said he had 2 choices. A Sig 226 and a Glock 17 and he never trusted either one, and still does not. Of course I pointed out that ARGUABLY those are the 2 most reliable weapons of all time (proven OVER and OVER) including several reports of people shooting each one over a MILLION times? He said that for him, he just never trusted them. A BIT more skepticism than most of us, but to each his own. I have no problem with preferring a revolver. He also pointed out something I have never really considered for myself, which was the concept of how long a weapon would be comfortable on his side. He said the Sig was a great "8 hour gun" for duty use, meaning that he could comfortably wear it for 8 hours. But that the Glock was a much better 12 hour gun--for after work overtime and off duty work that required more than a typical day. I had never really considered rating a weapon by number of hours that I would be wearing it. That is why I enjoy talking (and chatting) about guns.
