  3. Brothers n Sisters... A potential " New Mania " has struck me... The " RedDot on a Pistola Mania "..! Do yall think the mania is, indeed, just somethin to play with or if it is, indeed, a viable home and vehicle defense tool..? Im thinkin a full size pistola... Glock, Xd, Smith, IWI... What's the best way ta do this..? Milled slide or " Optics Ready "...? Whaddya think about the tiny RMRs...? Ones ya like... Them " tall iron sights... Which ones ya like...? A Enlighten me please... 4. I think that revolvers are becoming a " useful collectable "... Us older folks used em and collected em. Demand has kicked in again. More folks lookin = prices goin up. leroy...

  7. hipower... RE: " Emergency heat vs Heat Pump cost... When ya turn on the "Emergency Heat", ya have, in effect, turned on an electric furnace. It will run continuously until the temp reaches the set point ya selected on the home thermostat, then it will turn off. A heat pump is more efficient (... Read that " uses less electricity "..) than the electric furnace no matter the duration of the run. That is why that the heat pump is billed as bein more efficient. Said another way, a continuously running heat pump will not use as much electricity as a continuously running " electric furnace ". Another way ta look at is this... My 5 ton unit compressor runs on about a 25 to 30 amp load, heating or cooling. The strip heater breaker is rated at 100 amps... Its been down toward zero a time or two here, and we have never used the emergency heat... Im thinkin our unit is about 10 years old. Hope this helps a bit.. leroy
  8. jhc... Just let the unit run on its on. I know this sounds crazy, but a heat pump is nothin but a " switch hittin " air conditioner. The condenser and evaporators change jobs depending on " cool " or " heat ". They are efficient as anything down to about 25 degrees. Below there, they still work, just not as efficiently as gas furnaces n electric furnaces. The problem with them is that the heated air feels cool. Dont worry, it aint. The few degrees above the set temperature will keep the house warm. They work very well, they just aint warm like a gas furnace or a fire place. When ya turn on the " Emergency Heat ", ya are simply addin a electric resistance heater to heat the air more than the heat pump circuit does. As others have said, resistance electric heat is very expensive... stay warm... leroy... PS... We are electric heat pump folks too...
  9. I like it Brother..! It may not kill him, but i bet it will make him feel bad... HEHEHE... leroy...
  10. Remington 700 safari 375 H&H... Ruger #1 458... The word got around. No dangerous game in the yard for the last 40 years... Deterence must work... Bawana leroy...

  12. I am, indeed, a " prognostigator ", i freely admit it. Im also old enough to remember the Gun Control Act of 1968... I wuz 22 years old. The 1968 act was passed as the result of the shooting of the prez, an attorney general, and a beloved civil rights leader.. It wuz a " knee jerk " reaction. The congressional makeup wuz 2 to 1 democrat in both houses. That wuz then. Fast forward to today. There have been no " political assinations (.. Except Steve Scalece, and he is " The Enemy "..) ", and the congress is deadlocked 50/ 50. More than that, there are 200 million gun owners, and all of em aint republican. Folks are buying guns n ammunition at historic rates. People are edgy, afraid, concerned, and perplexed. They dont trust strangers, neighbors, protesters, nor the gubt. There is almost no chance of getting any legislature thru congress in this atmosphere. Everybody is watchin eachother, and nobody trusts anybody. Im thinkin Biden is doin the usual windbag thing throwin some red meat to the usual bunches... Its the usual anti gun red meat to the children of lower estate that back the dems. My guess is that it is simply windbaggery. He will give them the usual answer: " We tried; but the redneck whitey republicans wouldnt let us do it. Does it need to be watched..? YOU BET. Do we need to keep the political pressure on the usual suspects..? YOU BET. At the end of the day, im thinkin the " sensible gun control " thing is goin nowhere. I hope im right and your mileage may vary. Thus endeth the political soloquey... TGO prognosticatin leroy... Amateur political commentator.
  13. Thanks for confirming an intuition Brother. I'm lookin for an 875 fps range killin load. I'm thinkin about the 8.7 or so mark for AA#5, maybe a bit higher. leroy.
  14. Thanks Mike... The Bullseye load is an ancient favorite that works well... As i remember fills the case about half to a bit less full... As ive got a bit older, i like to be able to look in the cases and see em pretty full... Bullseye has probably blown up more firearms than any other powder, because of folks being a bit careless... Ive burned 6.5 grains of Unique in 1911s by the pounds... It was, by far, my favorite 1911 load... Im thinkin pretty strong about loadin some AA#5 to the 875 fps load mark n tryin them... Thanks again... loadin leroy...
  15. I'm a round man myself Brother. Overall hip pocket carry or big chest holster carry is where it's at.!!! full figured leroy...
  16. Thanks Brother..! I love the " map " idea... Excellent graphic. Have been wondering about AA 7 as well as a stand in for Bluedot... Thanks again... leroy....
  17. Been waitin for a recommendation... Will do soon. ! leroy.
  18. Thanks Brother.. I've burned alot of 45ACP with 6.5 Unique thru 1911s. Your observation on Herco may be the " real " answer.. A bit slower than Unique... Maybe a bit higher velocity... Thanks much for reminding me. leroy.
  19. Ya might wanna think about one of these and use a right handed ar... https://www.brownells.com/shooting-accessories/range-gear/shell-catchers-deflectors/brass-deflector-prod18554.aspx leroy...
  20. Dear Brothers n Sisters.... Am about to load up some 230 golden saber pills for the Glock 21... Thinkin about 6.5 grains of Unique... Anybody got any " pet recipes " for these pills..? Am thinkin about #5 and Bluedot as well... Thanks in advance. leroy...
  21. I love these things Bother..!! Nice job... Ive got an old Nazi marked CZ 27 that needs the same treatment... Im thinkin it wuz an old " coon huntin pistol " too... admirin leroy...
  22. Remember this... All machines have weak spots. It's the nature of things. Use em enough, and ya will find em. Generally, the service life of most machines is far greater than the " practical " life if the machine. That said; i think there are basically two approaches to modern polymer pistol slide design. The first (...and my perferred approach... ) is to make the slide light and the recoil spring strong... I think that is what Glock does and why they feel good in hand. The second approach is to make the slide heavy and lighten the spring. ALA the Springfiekd XD... They work well, but feel (.. To me, at least..) a bit top heavy. Remember, most everything is a trade off of some kind. leroy...
