We don't know if the guy was trying to run over anyone. The article says the officer ordered Grubb to stop the vehicle "several times", which tells me he wasn't in a split second decision situation if he had time to shout "Stop" over and over. It also says the officer shot the driver as the vehicle was entering Hwy 321- doesn't sound like anyone was trying to run over anyone there, either. Nothing about Grubb driving toward officers, charging at them, etc. How is deadly force justified when the alleged assailant is leaving the scene? Stupid can hurt, sure. How do we know the driver did anything at all? Maybe the store clerk called 911 because the buddy was drunk, or the one charged with drug paraphernalia smelled like weed. Was leaving the scene at that particular time the best decision? Probably not...but it warrants a death sentence? As for this impacting anyone's feelings about cops...even knowing several personally, this sure ain't helping mine. I'm a big fan of that whole "innocent until proven guilty" thing, so my question is guilty of what? As of now there's to evidence he was drunk, high, shoplifted anything, etc. Everyone in this thread is speculating that he was drunk, but nothing other than the subject line of the original post supports that. All I'm doing is speculating that he was innocent, because of that whole bit about "innocent until proven guilty". With the facts we have now, it's just as likely he was the sober designated driver as it is he was under the influence of anything. He disengaged from the officers and tried to leave the scene. They had his name, his tag number, and his friends. It isn't like they couldn't have found him later. Again, with the information we have now there's no reason to believe his interaction with the officers was any different than a cop coming up to me on the street and saying "Excuse me sir, mind if I ask you some questions?" If I say "No thanks, I'm good", turn and walk away that deserves being shot multiple times and killed?

Maybe he's seen too many action movies, maybe he watched one too many episodes of Cops. Maybe he's mentally unfit for his position and was hopped up on adrenaline. According to the news article there was no breathalyzer, or other indication that anyone was inebriated. It says there was a 911 call (no further explanation) and that officers were questioning three individuals. When they began to take one of the three into custody, the driver began to drive away. At this point they have two of three suspects and all their information, there was no reason for the officer to jump in the truck...or as the article says, "somehow ended up in" the truck. One of the three was charged with public intoxication, the other with possession of drug paraphernalia. As of now we have no evidence that the driver was under any influence. Heck, maybe he was the designated driver of the group. This officer should be charged with murder. Regardless of how irrational and emotional people want to be, drunk driving (which we don't even know if that was happening) is not a death sentence, and especially not one to be dealt out by some rank and file officer in a gas station parking lot. I think the officer didn't know how to react when he suddenly wasn't in charge of the situation anymore, so instead of remaining calm and apprehending the driver later he decided he had to regain immediate control. As a result, a potentially innocent man is now dead. This is why so many people have a hard time trusting the police.

I'd have your stuff rebuilt. In Nashville, just off of 5th ave (if I recall properly) there's a shop called Quality Machine and Torch Repair, or something like that. It's one street over from Volunteer Welding on the opposite side of the interstate. They did several jobs for me and did an excellent job, and the customer service is top notch.

Password protected phone could be your best witness?

Colorado still has as few on the side of very isolated highways. What app is that? Do they provide the hosting or do you have to have somewhere to upload it? How does it work in a situation where you may not have data access? -
We were sitting with some other Preds fans, who informed us that Nashville was kind of a 'thing' now. They're developing fans in other markets. :)

I don't Facebook, but I appreciate the suggestion. :) Waiting to hear back from a farmer down the road, if that doesn't work out I'm going to call the feed store and see if they have a customer that might be interested. Worst case scenario I can probably hire the company I bought gravel from to do it, but I'm sure that will be extremely expensive. Probably be cheaper than me having to load my tractor up and haul it down there though.

Anyone? Got a couple of phone calls out but nothing has come together yet.

2-1 Avs after two. Sitting with a group of Preds fans, there are pockets of yellow all over. Really didn't expect so many Nashville third jerseys either, that's kind of cool.

May be a thousand miles away, but a guy has to stay loyal. :) I'm actually surprised, there are a lot more Preds fans here than I expected.

I bought a set of brackets from a seller on ebay. They arrived and were out of spec to the point they couldn't be used. I contacted the seller who blew me off, filed a claim with eBay. They gave me a prepaid shipping label to send the items back to the seller, then when the tracking number showed the seller had them eBay refunded my money. I suspect in your case they'll ask the seller for proof of delivery, he won't have it, you'll get a refund.

You will get your money back. Ebay is biased toward the buyer. File a complaint with ebay, they will give you your money back.

Pretty much all the cordless companies are building good impact wrenches right now. I've got the Milwaukee 1/2" drive brushless, it's a beast. I use it regularly working on equipment, so far I haven't found anything it couldn't remove that my 1/2" air impact could. The one bolt that I couldn't take out with the cordless ended up requiring a 42" long, 3/4" drive breaker bar and still broke two sockets because the frame of the machine was bent just enough to put it in a bind. If you go cordless, make sure it's brushless. Milwaukee has a 5 year tool warranty, Makita is only 3. As for corded, I'm not sure. I have an old Black and Decker 110 volt impact that I haven't used in years. Really not sure why I still have it.

A whole lot of electrical, etc gets disconnected and reconnected during a body lift. Bigger tires increase load on the engine, etc. Its all very minor and in the real world will not cause any trouble if done right but it gives the dealer a lot of angles to attack from if they want to really fight over warranty stuff. That said, plenty of dealers sell brand new bro-dozers right off their own lots. I'm sure you could always take it to one of them for warranty work.

They were scared to end the story that way, the bear had a gps tracking collar on. According to the game warden they reported the incident to, they should've shot it anyway.

The pro line of HF boxes actually have a great reputation. I've worked with several guys that use them daily in a professional shop. It's one of the few things at HF that's actually a pretty good deal. A guy on Garage Journal did an extremely in depth tool box comparison between the big box stores and HF, and the HF box came out on top by a long way.

I used to have 5-6 of their $10-on-sale angle grinders around, each set up with a different wheel. Quicker than swapping wheels on the good grinders. I had a pair of Metabos for serious work, but the HF specials would last 6-8 months with intermittent use. I have a set of the extended roll pin punches, they work okay as long as the pins aren't seized.

Congrats! That's going to be a great trip. Nice country in that area as well. Are you going with a guide? A gentleman we hay for took an elk just north of there this year, but lost it to a bear.

[quote name="Grayfox54" post="1362820" timestamp="1456842386" Don't blame the agent, blame the agency.[/quote] They choose to hold that job and engage in those activities. "Just doing my job" is a weak cop out, no pun intended. Every single person is responsible for their own actions.

I've got a house between Gallatin and Westmoreland, on the Gallatin side of Bethpage right off of Rock Bridge Rd. It has approximately a 1/2 mile gravel driveway and with the recent rain it's in pretty tough shape. I'm looking for someone with a tractor, grader, whatever that would be willing to smooth it back out. Part of it is uphill. I haven't seen the condition myself, but the realtor says it needs some attention. Anyone have a suggestion for who I could hire to do this, or any TGOers with a tractor want to make a few bucks?

I spent a year working in a warehouse between high school and tech school. It was an extremely valuable year.

Funny how folks are willing to bring that up now. Just a few months ago when Kim Davis was arrested for contempt of court, some of the same folks were screaming that it was because of her religion, not disobeying a judge's order. By that logic wasn't this kid arrested for not paying his bills? For the record, I don't care if he was arrested or not. If you can't afford to go to college, maybe you shouldn't go.
-
Fair point. Kids need to have problems, so they learn how to handle bad things. Ultimately, the person who signed the paperwork is responsible. Don't care about the excuses, part of liberty is responsibility which means...you get you. You do the things you do, you get to own them.

Nonsense. While not traditional college, I went through a $26,000 tech school program. Paid for it by working "part time" 40 hour night shifts in a semi truck shop while in school, then going "full time" 50 hour weeks once I graduated. I didn't buy into the "everybody should go to college" line, I looked at what my skillset and interest was and how to squeeze the best income out of it. I could've gone the college route (graduated HS a year early with a 3.8 gpa), but I felt it wasn't for me and my parents supported my decision. Doesn't change the fact that I spent $26,000 for a year of education and paid it off in a year- six months of which while I was still in school. If some idiot decides to spend $100k to get a degree in art, they better have a plan to make money off that degree. If they can't pay it back, it nobody's fault but their own. My better half went a different route and came out of law school with six figure loan debt. No whining, no crying, no asking for help. You made the decision to take on the debt, I made the decision to spend my life with you. Now we get to live on nothing, work like crazy and pay it off. Took years of 90 hour work weeks, miserable jobs, insufferable bosses, but once it was done it was over and we could move on with life. The only people financially ruining young people are stupid young people, or maybe their parents. Maybe. I'm still going to blame the guy signing the loan paperwork first, but kids who were never allowed to experience problems as a kid don't know how to handle them as an adult. It's not that I don't have empathy for folks who have suffered catastrophic health issues, but nobody made you sign up for the debt.
