  1. Now that I have the Tennessee Sportsman Life-time license (I am a disabled wartime vet and have the license for $10).  I was asked to thin the coyote population where I deer hunt on my dad's land.   Regulations I found:   Year round season, no bag limit   No use of centerfire rifles during deer seasons (from what I can gather)   No use of predator calls at night.     Ok with that, how is it done?    What do have, a 10/22 rifle with scope.  AR-15 (.223) caliber with red-dot sight and tactical light.   Smartphone with coyote call application.    I want to be legal, it will be obvious from my hunting location that I will be seen using a light and an AR-15 will be heard.
  2. I've seen some of the OC vs. Police video on Youtube and feel that it was a fishing expedition.  Speaking to LEO people that I know, they prefer that everyone carry concealed, in my opinion the LEO will get less calls from "concerned" citizens.    When the Tennessee permit process became easier for citizens in the late 1990's, I spoke to police about it and they didn't like the idea of people carrying.  Over the years, that opinion has changed.   Overall, I am not against OC but I do oppose "fishing expeditions".....carrying a weapon in the open to get a reaction from somone(s).
  3. Good job on the stats and won't disagree with the 7% of the TN population.  Households maybe close, but would be hard to factor in the husband/wife/ and possibly older children.    I've been working at DCS for 18 years in the field of Juvenile Justice.  When I get a new kid on probation and I feel he/she should be enlightened about the growing number of people legally packing, I use more simplier terms of close to 1 of 10 people and chances are high that someone you pass through the Wal-Mart parking lot or ailse is legally packing.
  4. I re-watched the scene after reading some internet chatter.  We do know that she came out of the cellblock with the little (Lizzie) kids, I stopped and looked to see that Judith was secured into the baby carrier.  As we know, Rick and Carl found the carrier in a bloody mess, but no Judith.  The assumed she was gone by Walkers.    Problem, Judith was secured, a Walker is unable to undo the straps.  The locking mechanism was undone.      Before Darryl took out the M-60 tank with a grenade, the main gun fired towards Tyress who was running away.  I stopped the action, Tyress was running and his M-1 carbine was slung over his back.  When I carried the M-16 while in training or in theater, and needed my hands free, I slung my weapon across my back.  Thus, IMHO, Tyress retreated with Judith
  5. "I think Drunk Medic black guy is the one doing the rat things,by the way."   At beginning of the episode, I think Bob was going to vacate due to his drinking problem.    IMHO about the rat placement I have two theories.   Carol, first episode, she is the one reporting increase of walkers.  Maybe she had a thrill about clearing walkers from the fences.   Lizzie, girl has a few screws loose, very much a loose cannon.
  6. I reside outside of town and have backyard chickens.  Daughter's 4-H project, so we have 20 at this time.  2-5 get out on a regular basis, despite the clipping of a wing.  Yes, we clip on wing, so there attempted flight will be unbalanced.  Since June when the young chicks were placed in the yard, I've killed 3 raccoons and oppossums.  I typically use a live trap and finish off with a .22   We have new neighbors on our south and they have 4 dogs.  2 little one, and two larger pit bulls.  One of the pitbulls got loose and made a beeline to the chickens and was runnng after one.  My 11-year old ran off the dog.  Neighbors deny it was there dog but my daughter described the dog with detail.  We've told the neighbors that loose aggressive dogs will meet the business end of an AR-15.  Since then, there have been no issues.  Occasionaly. the chickens will wonder of to their place and come back.  I understand if the chicken wonder to their place, we have no authority.
  7.   Since first episode lasting survivors are:   Rick, Carl, Glenn and Darryl.    Walkers possibly getting the baby added to the last drama.  If it was not Judith that was devoured, then who?  I figure Carol will show up at some point.    Will also point out that the Internet Movie Firearm Database is up to date with last night's episode:  http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Walking_Dead,_The_-_Season_4
  8.   A katana blade through and though the upper gut.  Maybe in our era, chances of survival would be good at best, but in a world that resembles more of the stone ages....doubtful.
  9. Mid-Season observations:   Governor attempted to bluff the prison tribe to give up their ground, because he had a tank.  Governor eluded more than once “I have a tank”.  He didn’t have a real plan to take the prison by force.  Knocking down the fences and punched holes into the prison walls, which more or less, made the prison vulnerable to Walker attacks.  Governor had his little militia suckered like Woodbury folks in believing in him, yet no one in the prison tribe brought up that Woodbury massacre during the negotiations.  Prison was stormed and for the most part destroyed, prison tribe has scattered and I will assume, they had a rendezvous place.  Discussion at the bus was to go to some location.   Governor and Mitch are no more and good riddance.  Would wish the Governor has suffered more from his gut wound.    Prior to the showdown, Sasha was complimenting Bob for his medical skills.  I should have read more into that at the time.  Herschel is gone, leaving Bob the drunk as the medical professional.  Despite being a drunk and cannot be counted on during supply run, he will be needed at new camp.    At least 2 of Governor’s militia may have survived, the 2 sisters, one a nurse, the other a cop wannabe.  Would the prison tribe once reorganized take in the two?  If there other militia survivors, would they be taken in? Prison tribe is scattered and will have to fight for themselves.  Tyress with the little kids.  Speaking of which, the older of the two young girls is gone mentally, she will be s loose cannon.  Prison bus is gone and all on board and old and sick.
  10. Watched the "Dead Weight" episode.  Gov. is now back in control.  Takes out Martinez and later Pete.  Martinez due to his knowledge of the Woodbury massacre after the failed attack on the prison.  Pete who attempts to be the groups leader is weak when under stress and has a moral compass, which the Gov. can't deal with.  Keeps Mitch and makes him the new henchman.  Of course, Mitch can operate the M-60 tank.   Early in the episode, Mitch, Pete, Martinez and Gov. go on supply run, find cabin with decapited corposes, "Liar, Murderer, Rapist", still trying to figure that one out.  Any ideas?
  11. These kids are not 100% stupid.  I would say the video footage is probably only a fraction what is going one, but I observed.  Kids in a group, attack a lone person walking opposite.  What appears to be a woman, sucker punched from behind, goes down like a pancake.  Only situational awareness gives one the edge, not the gun.  They'll pass by the one that is aware and choose the one trying to update his Facebook as he/she walks down the street.
  12. I tried to get on the site at work and it's blocked for the reason of :  marijuana
  13. Gov. appeared to have 'snapped' after the attack on the prison, even burning Woodbury.  Funny thing, no mention of Woodbury or the burning of in the first episode this season.   Gov. taken in by the small family.  He figured out soon, the women on the family had no clue what was really going on outside their apartment building.  Had no idea how to kill a Walker and that someone dies, not matter if bitten, they turn into a Walker.  There were no defensive measures at the apartment building.  Even the windows were not covered.  It's obvious, that area didn't endure a walker herd.    I observed that until the Gov. took in the little girl as his own, he didn't care about anything.  Threw food away.  In the nursing home, made no real effort to kill Walkers despite they would be in the path of his retreat.    Fell into his own Walker trap outside of Woodbury and re-united with past thug friends.  Doubtful the two lady friends he met will stay long if they show up again.  They had no survival skills and Gov. does not have the patience to train them.   Will Gov. re-instate his old command????
  14. "The army medic is  hiding more than just a hankering for  booze..he strikes me as very untrustworthy for some reason. I think he will be a major player in the episodes to come.  The kid  who dies in the shower.. what did he die of? he was only sick for a day ,right?"     Army medic is suffering from PTSD and alcohol is a form of self-medication.  He's unstableness will probably show in next episodes.  He accidentaly knocked down the alcohol shelf that brought the airborne walkers that killed one of their own.  He will have to live with that.   The wild boar and pig in the pen dying.  Do we recall the walker outside the fence with bleeding eyes?  Could it be that walkers are spreading an airborne virus or bacteria?  Which could have killed the kid in the shower.   I brought up the complency issue, where the survivoris are comfortable in their setting.  Picnic breakfast, Darryl without a crossbow???  Survivors have taken the first need of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (Basic and Safety) for granted, and some are focused on social and esteem, ignoring the first two.
  15. Compliancy kills! Timeline of the show that opening of Season 4 is about 6-7 months after the showdown with the Governor’s forces.  At the very beginning I see signs of compliancy. The people in the prison take safety for granted. Rick goes out to tend to the garden, goes alone and without a firearm.  Finds a .45 semi-auto handgun, (I figure it got there during the battle with Gov’s people), ejects the magazine but does not check the chamber. Later Rick goes to check on the snares.  At this point, I don’t know what the snares are about, but goes alone and had to be demanded to take is .357 mag revolver.  People prepping for the “run” all looks well.  Arrive at the supermarket, get cocky and not looking for threats.
  16. Ratification of an international treaty takes a 2/3 majority in the Senate.  Very doubtful that this treaty will every be ratified.  After World War I, the United States did not sign the Treaty of Versailles and signed a separate peace treaty with Germany.  I recall, the US Senate would ratify a treaty to form the League of Nations.  Pres. Wilson ended up suffering a stroke campaigning on this issue.  SALT II, a treaty to limit nuclear weapons was never ratified but US Admin. went along with the principles of the treaty.    I am extremely disappointed that Kerry signed the treaty but not surprised.  From what I have read, imports/exports of guns will require a register.  Being the ATF is under the Executive Branch of the Federal Gov't, there would be some attempts of a register.  What that will mean for already owned guns and sold/transfer between ourselves, I do not know.
  17. I like Alan West too.  But have some concerns if he can be elected.  In the election of 2000, Al Gore failed to carry his home state of Tennessee, those electoral votes woud have put him in the Oval Office.  Former Sen. Bob Dole said, "If I win the popular vote but can't carry my home state of Kansas, I can't consider myself popular".  Romney didn't carry his home state of Mass.   Ryan didn't carry his home state of Wisconsin.  Which brings up that Alan West lost his Congressional seat in Florida in this past election.
  18. If I have my gun on me or it's in my vehicle that I would drive or be in, I will not have any alcohol.
  19. Used to carry a Kel-Tec P11, it has a belt clip mounted on the gun.  Was in a grocery store, bent down to look at a product, felt the gun move.  I discreetly moved towards the restroom to fix my problem.
  20. Looks to be real.  Been working with at DCS with juvenile justice kids for nearly 18 years and yes they'll post really stupid stuff on Facebook and Youtube.  One that got beat up, he's told he can leave, he turns his back to go to the door, that is just dumbass.
  21. I pulled up the app this morning when I saw if first hit the news.  Of around 1,400 to rate it, just over 1,300 were one star (lowest).  Some reading on various sites comments that people (appear to be gun owners) are marking everything from 1600 Penn. Ave. in D.C to the maker of the application.    If I thought that marking my own property to keep salesman and Jehavoh's Witness' away, I'd mark mine in a heartbeat.
  22. I was in college during the 1992 LA Riots after the trial of the police offcers accused of beating Rodney King.  Over the last few days, I have been pulling up footage of the riots on You Tube.  While I have no concern for rioting in most of Tennessee (Memphis, would be the only exception), I will be taking my family to St. Louis on Sunday and will be there until Wed.    Somethings I have thought about, in 1992, cell phones were rare, rioters/looters learned of the news on radio/TV.  Today, virtually everyone has a cellphone and that can been hooked to Twitter/Facebook and other social media.  For instance, a gang member can tweet, "ain't no POlice at liquor store on corner of ______ & ______" .  Few minutes later, flash mob arrives.  Or tweet, "white family stuck in traffic at ________ & ________ intersection"
  23. ....Ok, when this gun gets to the auction, who here will bid on it?
  24. The Police Officer was very professional, wish I know what state Albany (yea, I know there is an Albany, NY but doubt it was there) and send an email to the Chief commending the officer's actions.   I deplloyed to Iraq in 2003 and Kuwait in 2010, second deployment, we ran missions into Iraq.  Second deployment, we were provided new slings for our M-16's, it was a tactical sling where the weapon could be easily carried in the low ready.    When I went through Military Police training back in the 90's, there was some discussion but not indepth that how a weapon is carried (openly) displays a posture.  There is a difference with a rifle is slinged over the back (like the person in the video)  and how I carried in Iraqi 2010 in the low ready.
