  1.     I saw that too, WT#???   Dumb Senator also told about the murder she witnessed in San Fransico of these powerful weapons.  From I read about the murder, it was a police officer (or recently unhired police officer) with a revolver.  Guess, I will go to Wikipedia to refresh my memory.
  2. Seen another news report that Michael Moore is demanding that the Sandy Hook crime scene photos be public.  Typical Liberal logic of not letting a crisis go to waste.    AWB will face an uphill battle in the Senate as well as the House.  Yep, there will be another run for guns and ammo, like the current one hasn't let up.    Edited:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moscone%E2%80%93Milk_assassinations
  3. I ran across this site:  https://www.carryacademy.com/index/  the site states the class will be good enough for the Tennessee and other state's Handgun Carry Permit.   Anyone have any direct or indirect experience with this course?
  4. One of my co-workers was denied purchase of a handgun.  She had a bad check over 15 years ago.  Took about 2-3 months to clear that up and now she is a proud handgun owner.  She plans to take the HCP course soon and apply for her permit.
  5. Read the forum post, very interesting.  Being I work juvenile justice, the hats to the right, ID's the thugs as GD's, apart of the Folk Nation.
  6. I have not been asked, but have had a couple of stares.  Like Jonnin pointed out, it's mostly gun people or LEO that will spot the print of a CC or tip of a barrel.  Most of the time, if my Glock is seen would be at the check-out of a store, such as Wal-Mart, when I get my wallet or get change.  Sometimes, I intentionally put my change or keys in my left front pocket so I won't dig in my right pocket where my handgun is close.   Seldom do I open-carry, but when I do, it's normally at a gas station late in the evening and my message, I really don't want to be bothered.
  7. Why should I buy the double-barrel shotgun?  Since Joe the Biden says that I need one, Gov't should pay for it llike the FEMA TV's and Obama iPhones?
  8. I work at Children's Services, since I work with primarily Juvenile Justice kids, foster home placements are not the norm and I am not a foster parent. DCS policy for foster parents is that weapons are secured in a non-glass cabinet or safe. Key words are non-glass and secure. As far as I know, nothing about if foster parents can have a carry permit or not. There are other companies that deal with foster care, Youth Villages and Phoniex Homes. I think they have policies similiar to DCS.
  9. I hike a lot, being a geocacher, I carry at Glock 17. On long hikes, will have the gun in my backpack.
  10. I carry on Wal-Mart quite often and concealed. I carry a Glock 17; used to in a paddle holster. Leaving Wal-Mart once in Huntingdon, TN, the employee at the door was giving me the eye. She anticipated the shop-lifting buzzer to go off. Guess she thought I was stealing. Anyway, I just kept walking. As for your friend, I work with liberals and gun-grabbers. I make it a point to avoid the political conversations, which would led me calling them Communists and inform them that 'worker's paradise' is just a 90-mile float away form Key West, FL.
  11. The highway 62 bridge from Cairo to Missouri is closed. Bridge from Wickliff, KY is open, would have to drive into Cairo, IL to I-57 then cross the Miss.
  12. Thanks for the replies. The woman giving me the stare was a sheeple and probably wouldn't understand, even if I explained the permit.
  13. Been carrying for over 10 years and until this year, I carried Kel-Tec P-11. Decent carry gun and I think very few people ever noticed. Returning from deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom, I decided to treat myself and went with a Glock 17. I also purchased a paddle holster. Holster worked OK during the winter months, but as it warmed up, it became harder to conceal. While at the paying at the checkout inside Dollar General in Dresden, a customer across from me was giving me the evil stare. Since then I purchased a new holster that rides up higher. The Glock 17 is more comfortable and not received as many looks.
  14. Would have suited me if the games were played on Mars.
  15. I have brought over a .22 to zero a scope and target practice with my Kel-Tec. I showed the firearms when I entered the gun range and had no trouble.
  16. You met respect with respect, taking the high road was the way to go.
  17. Buffalo Wild Wings in Jackson, TN also has a sign on the door, no guns.
  18. Overall, I think the encounter was handled correctly and do have concern about the disarming point. Good to know that Huntingdon PD are pro-HCP and feel better as I pass through the town on the way to I-40.
  19. Took the family out geocaching to be First to Find at "Am I in France?" geocache, got there about dark. No one bothered us, but we did some people having a "better" time than I would expect in a park. Logged the find and headed back to the parking lot.
  20. Thanks for the info about Muse. My geocaching throughout Jackson normally takes place as I pass through the city during the week. Been to Muse park about 4 times. One cache, Jackson Mystery, was long, taking two trips to complete. During one of those visits I did encounter disc golf players. Kate Campbell is isolated without any residential nearby as opposed to North Park.
  21. Even though I am from Dresden, being a geocacher, I have visited most if not all the parks in Jackson and surrounding area. I did run into a dirtbag at Savannah Williamson Park near Denmark. I wrote about that experience in a letter to the editor of the Commercial Appeal. That incident happened at 10 am. Most of my geocaching does occur during the middle of the day and usually I have the park to myself or just a few people around. I typically avoid geocaching in parks in the later afternoons since there are many people around. In Jackson, I think Muse Park can be the most dangerous.
  22. Socialism was nothing new to Germany in the 1930's. Germany was on the road to socialism in the late 1800's. Even Winston Churchill prior to World War One made favorable comments of German health care and unemployment insurance.
  23. There are no county parks in Weakley County, all the parks are maintained by city governments (Martin, Dresden, Gleason, Sharon and Greenfield). Being that I live out in the county, my say will not mean much to the boards of the above mentioned towns.
  24. October 2001, 3 men went to attend "a wedding" in Afghanistan. Even a hermit living in a hole knew that a can of whoop ass was going to be unleashed onto the Taliban in Afghanistan.
  25. Being a geocacher, the park issue is what I am interested in. State parks, I'm not that worried about. City parks, especially Memphis (Muse in Jackson), I want to carry.
