  1. Source: http://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2015/7/17/ruger-precision-rifle/ "The Precision Rifle’s upper receiver and one-piece bolt body are CNC-machined from pre-hardened 4140 chrome/molybdenum alloy steel. The lower receiver is machined in two pieces, right and left halves, from 7075-T6 hard-coat anodized aluminum. That method simplifies manufacture, allows more precise control of machining in the magazine well and makes assembly of small components easier as they can be placed in position in one half before the other half is attached. Offered at this time in three short-action chamberings, the rifle is available in .308. Win. with a 20" barrel, 6.5 mm Creedmoor with a 24" barrel and .243 Win. with a 26" barrel. The weights vary by chambering, but with the lightest model starting at 9.7 lbs. sans optic, the Precision Rifle is not a light firearm. The evaluation gun provided by Ruger was chambered in 6.5 mm Creedmoor and—after being furnished with a scope, bipod and stock-mounted monopod—tipped the scales at just over 15 lbs." Click the link at the top (or below) for more on it from the NRA. Looks like a pretty neat way to get into precision shooting for those who don't want to or couldn't bare to spend big bucks on a custom rig. http://www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2015/7/17/ruger-precision-rifle/
  2.   Hard work accomplishes a lot, especially when a lot of people are working hard toward a common goal.  The common denominator among the groups you refer to as wielding more political power than... whoever... is the fact that they unite a lot of people behind a common goal, and those people are diligent in their pursuits and make things happen.  Dr. Martin Luther King and other true black leaders can only do so much on their own.  MLK accomplished quite a bit by unifying the people beneath a common banner, for crying out loud.  His accomplishments weren't carried along and made easier because of crisis -- he was met with opposition and persevered.     He wasn't just shuffling along alone hoping people would join him and embrace the ideals of equal rights until a fortunate, merciful tidal wave of crisis carried him swiftly across a finish line he would have never reached otherwise; he and his fellow men and women worked their asses off for it.  Their hard work magnified the crisis.  It didn't create it.  It didn't benefit because of it.  Their hard work survived that crisis only because they fought hard to see it through.   I mean, seriously, what the f--- are they teaching in schools these days if you seriously believe what you wrote???   The Religious Right (what a defaming label, by the way) , Trade Unions, Defense Lobby and the NRA understand what Dr. King and his constituents understood:  HARD WORK PAYS OFF.  HARD WORK BY MANY PAYS OFF LARGER AND FASTER.   What hard work in large numbers has modern "disenfranchised Black America" done lately except rally behind the effort to put the worst President in history into office and burn Ferguson, MO and Baltimore, MD to the ground?  Show me black leaders today who are more like Dr. King in the sense of trying to better all of America than people like Allen West or Ben Carson.  Men who worked hard and work hard and care about the people more than they care about themselves and understand that it takes a unified front to turn tides.
  3.   There is a difference between conducting war and conducting politics.  You may think you don't want rough men on the front lines doing whatever it takes to keep our country safe, but I assure you that you do.  What is truly criminal isn't that a man like Col. West would take an enemy combatant and scare him into providing valuable information that saves the lives of coalition men and women.  Valiant, honorable soldiers have done far worse than making a hadji soil his pants.  This nation was founded by men who knew how to get #### done and who did worse than that in combat.   What is truly criminal is that the media has ever been allowed to expose the dirty truth that war is Hell to a week-kneed, hand wringing public who dares to armchair quarterback what soldiers do to preserve their lives, the lives of their brothers in arm, and the lives of us back home, against an enemy who uses children to conduct suicide bombing missions, rapes women, saws the heads off of anyone who doesn't believe in their god, and throws men from rooftops to their deaths because "they might be gay".  The only effective answer to violence conducted by evil men, is violence conducted by good men.   Further, the United States did not ratify ALL the parts of the Geneva Convention and opted to reserve the right to things like capital punishment.   So yeah, I support the #### out of Col. West because he seems like a man who knows how to get #### done.   :usa:
  4. Mmm... I really must quit thinking about how good a Tavor would look in my hands at the range.
  5. This is a heck of an opportunity!  Folks need to jump in on this with you.
  6.   It sounds to me like he's capable of getting shit done.
  7.   Ever read something so detached from reality that it makes your eye twitch?  I just did.
  8.   I wonder if my buddy Mark Lancaster over at Squared Away Customs has anything for them.  I'll do some checking.
  9. One of the first 40SW I ever owned was a "Baby Eagle" which is essentially the same gun.  Great weapon.  It was hard as heck to find holsters for it back in the mid 90's though.
  10. Those look like fun.
  11. Welcome aboard.
  12.   Yeah, that was my 4th of July shirt.  Back to Back World War Champs.
  13. Just screwing around with the iPhone camera trying out some ideas before I break out the DSLR...
  14. Received mine today.  Immaculate!  Fit and finish is superb.  No problems with the ambidextrous safety.  The seller included an extra recoil spring and a few mags as well.   It reportedly has had a hundred or so rounds through it.  You can't tell it ever had one.  :)   I hope to shoot it tomorrow and will take some photos later this weekend.  I'm thoroughly impressed with it.
  15. Good schools, lots of churches, lots of shopping, and rural lifestyle?  Williamson County just outside of metro Nashville is likely where you want to consider.   http://www.williamsoncounty-tn.gov/   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williamson_County,_Tennessee#Demographics
  16. One of builds was on a stripped CMMG lower.  No problems with it.
  17. That thing is just gorgeous.
  18. If the Specialist turns out to be as nice as I've read and everyone says they are, I could see a Valor bobtail in 10mm adding itself to the stable at some point.
  19. That sounds a lot like Balcone's True Blue. The corn smell and taste is very noticeable in it as well, reminding you of the fact that moonshine is only a barrel and a few years away from being whiskey.   Sounds like something I need to try! Thanks for sharing.
  20. The wife and I and some friends have been wanting to make that trip. How does it drink? Did you do the distillery tour also?
  21. Thanks all.  I am looking forward to sending some lead downrange with it.  I have a Wilson Combat Professional bobtail that I never carry as it has sentimental value.  Call me silly, but I wore that to my wedding and as a result it's sort of sacred to me now.  I do take it to the range periodically and run some rounds through it, though.   :)   I was able to pick the Specialist up as a slightly used firearm from an individual seller out of state for about $300 off of retail, which seemed like too good of a deal to pass up.  That said, Daniel at Guns & Leather said that Dan Wesson 1911s are probably the best non-custom 1911s you can buy right now.  Without spending Wilson Combat, Nighthawk, Republic Forge money, this was the best 1911 I felt that I could buy at the moment.   More to come!
  22. Nice to hear, Rusty.  Thanks.  I just "pulled the trigger" on a Specialist myself so it's all over but the waiting now.  Hopefully I'll have it in hand before next weekend and can take it out to the range for some grouping therapy.
  23.   Do you have the standard grip Valor or the Valor Bobtail?
  24. I am thinking about picking up a Dan Wesson Specialist as a carry 1911 to perhaps replace my Colt, or at least allow me a backup if I send my Colt off to have it completely worked over.   I'd like to hear from those of you who own a DW 1911. Pros?  Cons?  Satisfied?
  25. The only other country I'd consider moving to is the Republic of Texas.  And that's because their state bird is the middle finger.
