Although a pipe dream, I would like to see GunTab.com also become a marketplace. Kind of the way Ebay and PayPal were joined at the hip when they first started. I've made purchases off of Armslist and Gun Broker as well as other sites, but if distance precludes me from making the purchase face-to-face, I'll only use a credit card and only with a vendor who has positive history.

I agree. I've been to the tops of many. St. Augustine and Jupiter being the ones I'm currently closest to. Maybe the neat thing about them is the history and the role they served before modern aids to navigation.

I'm currently down the road a piece from St. Augustine. The town itself if pretty seedy and many of the tourist oriented restaurants long ago began looking a little long in the tooth. That said, the Lightner Museum is very engaging. As to restaurants I feel The Columbia is a must for the atmosphere if nothing else. You may enjoy driving a little inland to take an air boat tour. Maybe drive further towards the center of the state to snorkel in the springs. Ginnie Springs is cool, both figuratively and literally. Although there are plenty of charter boats in that area for off shore fishing, if you go out of Sebastian or further south you'll likely get some great catches. Doing any shooting while down here? I have access to the 600 yard NRA certified range in Palm Bay. In Volusia on the weekends they open up the 1250 yard range. Once per month you can actually shoot a mile if you have the hardware to accomplish that. Have fun.

I find this set up with an OWB spare mag at the 8 o’clock position to be the most comfortable for me. I choose to carry the fixed blade KaBar knife where I can reach it with my non-dominant hand. I started that practice after a colleague was choked out due to an assault from the rear. With this fixed blade I can easily start poking around towards an assailant’s thigh or lower torso if he has me in a rear choke. Although I carry a folding knife clipped in my front pocket, I prefer the fixed blade option if the knife needs to be readily deployed in a panic with expediency. I don’t want to run the risk of the blade on a folding knife not fully opening and thereby compromising the weapon and myself. Although the OP didn’t ask about anything other than position for conceal carry, I feel the knife is an important compliment to my EDC. This is how I am carrying most of my time away from the house.

I personally got a good deal on a handgun due to the new gun being sold and then returned a few days later when the conditional approval was rescinded. The gun had not been fired but it was now considered used.

I sometimes carry my larger framed guns at the 4 o'clock position in an OWB holster. I know I'm putting on weight when the grip irritates my fat roll in that area. I most often carry my Sig 365 at appendix position in a Stealth Gear Ventcore holster on a good leather gun belt. I like the hybrid aspect of the kydex/nylon holster material. I can put the holster in the washing machine and then let it air dry. I also like the belt clip. I have found on many kydex holsters the belt clips are too big or too rigid to allow for minor adjustments due to change of body position. On my Stealth gear holster I removed one of the two screws on the belt clip to allow the clip to swivel while not sacrificing any retention on my belt. In the appendix position the gun is at a place my hands naturally fall. This allows for not only rapid presentation of the gun if needed but also allows me to quickly get a hand on the gun to keep it pressed into the holster if someone were to try to disarm me. Another plus of this position for me is that when sitting, such as when driving, I can still easily access the weapon while wearing a seat belt. No need to remove the seat belt nor to twist and contort my body to retrieve the gun from the 4 o'clock position. The other issue I have with the 4 o'clock position in my vehicles is that the base of the magazine/grip digs into the upholstery. I don't want to mar my seats with wear through that constant pressure and abrasion. I found 3 o'clock position to get in the way of the seat belt and put uncomfortable pressure on my hip after a while as well as digging into the seat as already mentioned. 2 o'clock position keeps my from reaching into my pocket when standing and has the barrel end of the holster digging into the top of my thigh when seated. With the appendix position I find the holstered Sig 365 to fall nicely into the crease between my thigh and groin which is created when seated or raising my leg while standing.

I'll also mention that small of back position often leads to muzzling anyone nearby as the gun is drawn. Also not a readily defensible position for weapon retention.

But I believe I’m correct in saying there is no option to put a red dot on that platform and it does not lend itself to having the slide milled.

Thank you all for weighing in. You’ve convinced me. I just emailed my LGS asking they get a Blue Label Gen 4 G20 for me to go along with the G44 which came in on Friday. I’ll certainly be walking out of the shop with the two extremes; a .22 and a 10mm

I’ll take that as an affirmation from someone with firsthand experience that I’m on the right path leaning towards the Glock. I just don’t care for the long slide of the G40 though. I do find it odd that they make the G40, the 10mm with the longest sight radius, in a MOS version but not the shorter 10mm slides. It leaves me scratching my head.

I currently do not own anything in 10mm but I have an itch to get something in this regard. No good reason beyond me wanting one. I started by looking at a Desert Eagle 10mm 1911 but my reading is pushing me towards the Glock G20 or G20SF. Any suggestions or feedback from owners is appreciated. A little of my thought process to round this out: I very much like the aesthetics of the 1911 but a strong argument was made that the larger capacity and arguably greater reliability makes the Glock a better option. Through my reading I decided I will likely want to put a red dot on this pistol as I have on my G45 MOS. That was something not even considered when I was looking at the Desert Eagle, but an article on the Glock made a strong case for the benefit of a red dot on a gun of this caliber. I find it without explanation though that Glock does not offer a MOS version of the G20/G20SF. If I do go the Glock route with the knowledge that I'll need to have the slide milled, my next decision will be whether to get the G20 or get the SF version. I am hoping a local shop will have both in stock so I can compare how each fits in my hand. I doubt though I will find a shop with one on the shelf, much less both models. Regardless, I know I want it in Gen 4 to take advantage of the upgraded recoil spring. I appreciate any input on how best to spend my money on this purchase.

That is one reason I prefer the steel targets I mentioned up above from HangFast. Not that a ricochet is impossible, I guess, but the way that they are angled down towards the ground it goes a long way to preventing shrapnel coming back at the shooter. At least that has been my experience even when doing things relatively close with a handgun. Speaking of rounds coming back at you, have you guys seen this video of the .50 BMG round coming back and hitting the guy’s ear pro?

I bought mine from https://hangfasttargets.com/ I really like their mounting system that slides on to a barb wire fence T-post. The way the hanger angles the steel downward is great to limit potential ricochets or having bullet fragments coming back at you.

Since 2016 with ATF's introduction of 41F, a trust does not have the benefit it did previously. I have a NFA trust. For the times I open carry I very much like the Safariland ALS holsters. A tough holster with level II retention that still allows for a quick draw of the gun although it lacks the aesthetics of a finely crafted leather holster. Given the current economic and political landscape, I highly recommend "The Mandibles" from a few years ago. Events are set as beginning in 2029. I found it to be a fantastic work of fiction with a lot of realistic plausible parallels.

My Blue Label dealer ordered a G-45 MOS for me. Took about 2 weeks.

I have their M1911 A1 Ultra Tac in 9mm. Shoots great! The only downside with RIA is how heavy their guns are. By Comparison I have Springfield and Colt 1911's which are noticeably lighter.

If any of you read for pleasure you may find the book The Mandibles an enjoyable read. It's fiction that opens in 2029 with an economic meltdown based on the USD being devalued by China and Russia. I thought it was a great read with a lot of parallels to what we see unfolding with regard to national debt.

I went with a Vortex Venom 6 MOA dot for my TS-12 shotgun. That big 6 MOA dot makes target acquisition quick while still keeping both eyes open.

I’ve seen videos of shooters using a rubber band to keep forward pressure on a trigger allowing them to bump fire the weapon. Some of them empty a magazine pretty quickly. I have no first-hand experience

I realize your comment may have been in just. My self-defense insurance covers me only for a self-defense incident. I don’t think it’s any help to me if I get popped for contraband. Likewise, I doubt my umbrella policy covering home, autos, etc. would cover me in an area where I’m accused of breaking the law over a piece of equipment.
