  1. Feinstein alluded that the Heller decision allowed them to regulate "unusual" weapons. How does an AR15 which I have read is the most popular rifle sold fall under "unusual". Would not the fact that its the most popular make it in fact the usually owned rifle? I know logic doesn't apply but I also hate that they are so comfortable saying "none of these rights are absolute". We've come a long way from "We hold these truths to be self evident...", a long way in the wrong direction. -southernasylum
  2. OK. Thanks. I don't remember reading that. It's been a while since I read the bill. I know it's far from perfect but I have a school aged daughter and my wife works at Vanderbilt. With school functions, visits with the wife and doctor and dental appointments at least I can legally have my gun in the car when this takes effect. Hopefully we can continue to move in the right direction towards 2A rights. I'd much prefer constitutional carry but pragmatically, that ain't happening anytime soon. Some pie > no pie. -southernasylum
  3. I know a lot of folks don't care for this bill but dang, when is it going to get signed into law?   -southernasylum
  4. I've heard it said you can never have too many unless you're swimming!   -southenrasylum
  5. Yeah, I bought a couple of boxes of PMC 9mm there for 18.99 a box. That's a bit more than I'd like to pay but at least they have some in stock.   -southernasylum
  6. Maybe I'm just unlucky. Friday is the only day I can go early but I'm usually in before noon an haven't had any luck. I've seen .40 there a bit but I don't have anything that eats that. Maybe I should just buy a new gun? Here honey, look what I bought you. Not sure that would end well for me... -southernasylum
  7. Personally, I'm holding on to what I have for now. If I shoot it all up it would be a PITA to replace it and it would cost double what it should. I don't remember the last time I've seen a 550rd box of .22LR in the stores. I know it will eventually get back to normal so I'm just going to wait it out.   -southernasylum
  8. I was able to score a 50rd box of 9mm for $15. Since they limit 1 box per caliber and I didn't want a $30 box of CCI .22LR it's all I bought. They had some bulk .40 and .45 too. Apparently from talking to the cashier, there's a line every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I wasn't going to wait but decided to join the line and see what was left. Don't think I'll do it again. I just don't like the lines. I guess if I'm going cold turkey for a while. Everyone was orderly and polite. I just don't want to add to the madness.   -southernasylum
  9. Wow, I've been stopping by Wally World most days after work to check for handgun ammo. No luck. This morning after dropping off my daughter at school I ran by then went to Academy. I was about half an hour before opening and I went for coffee. There was already about 10-12 people waiting. By the time they opened there was a line at least 30 deep. Crazy.
  10. Did they have Pmags? I only saw Pro-Mags when I went. I may have missed them. And yes, while I was there one employee accidentally answered the phone "Franklin Gun Shop". Maybe by the time they get their FFL there will actually be guns available.   -southernasylum
  11. If you go down Moores Ln away from I65 (east) it's the first left turn past he railroad tracks which is Gen. George Patton. It's the first thing on the left. There is a seamstress or something in the corner of the bldg. it's a little multi business building. 7061 Moores Ln, Brentwood, TN 37027 http://m.google.com/u/m/-Bo0Nx
  12. Just came from there. It's located at the corner of Gen. George Patton and Moores Ln. Have to access thru G. G. Patton. They don't have an FFL yet. They do have quite a bit of .223 and other ammo. Prices are a bit high. I bought a couple 50rd boxes of PMC 9mm for 17.95 each. High but at least they had it. They had cases of .223 green tip for $700. Had some other types for higher. Not sure how many are in a case. They don't have a sign yet but it's the store wih the silver window tint. They have a temporary banner type sign that is blocked by parked cars. Lots of Pro Mag stuff and some Tapco. From some threads I've read here I'd say they were priced a bit high. I think $29 for a 30rd ar mag. Hopefully they will lower their prices when stuff settles. -southernasylum P. S. it's called Everything Weapons.
  13. From what I read they are supposedly unrelated. I guess we just wont the galactic lottery or maybe some scientists aren't as smart as they think they are. I've been browsing several videos. This think had several shock waves. In the following video you can hear the waves. The segment starts at 1:40 Crazy stuff!   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqfP324VukE
  14. Crazy, I thought it was a hoax but it's on the networks so it's slightly more credible than fiction. Here's a link to some cool videos.   http://rt.com/news/meteorite-crash-urals-chelyabinsk-283/   Maybe we should prepare for teotwawki!   -southernasylum
  15. Still slim pickin's in Franklin. When I can walk into Walmart and pick up an M400, I'll own my first AR15. I was tempted to jump on one of the less ridiculously priced evil black guns that have been listed but I think I'll wait it out. Hopefully I'm not making the wrong gamble. If not, my 30-06 will be my reach out and touch gun. -southernasylum
  16. I'm conflicted. The bill definitely has problems, however, we're not going to get everything we want in the first pass. Gun control advocates make incremental steps towards their ends and claim victory at every step. It seems we're lamenting every small step because we've not reached our goal. The journey of a thousand steps... Yes, this bill doesn't do much but it is not a move toward gun control. I think I'll celebrate this tiny victory and start planning for the next step. Just my .02   -southernasylum
  17. What has the world come to that you can't rob someone in Detroit without fear of being shot! With more and more citizens arming themselves legally, criminals are going to be forced to move to Chicago or NYC. What's happening to America! </sarcasm>   -southernasylum
  18. We need to stage an intervention. The first step to recovery is, awe who am I kidding that is AWESOME! -southernasylum
  19. Man hard to remember. I'm thinking since '95 or '96, possibly earlier. I remember wanting one as soon as I turned 21 but we were young and broke. The money for the class just wasn't in our budget. We finally got them a year or two later. Now we're middle aged and broke. =)   -southernasylum   P.S. If I remember correctly, a little before that time you were required to get a bond for maybe $50,000 or something in order to get a permit.
  20. How long till we know if Haslam will sign this bill and make it law? Hopefully from the chatter I'm reading, he seems to have made peace with the current bill.   -southernasylum
  21. I'm with the 150 to 200ish estimate. It was awfully cold. I went to move my vehicle after about 50 minutes because I was in metered parking. Parked in a garage an by the time I returned it was dispersing. Glad I came to be a warm (relatively) body in the crowd. I was worried it was starting to lean towards just an anti govt rally more than a pro gun rally but it seemed to stay on track from what I was able to hear. I stayed towards the back as I don't like crowds too much. I did see the guy get hauled off but wasn't sure why. I missed the start of that an was happily on the opposite side of the crowd from him. Wish there was a little better turn out but cold middle of a work day I can't complain. Saw lots of spring clips on belts and lots of knives but few open carriers. There was one young man with throwing knives on his hip. Overall I'm happy I went to show my support. Any thoughts on the militia thing. Seems like something I personally would avoid like the plague. -southernasylum
  22. I really appreciate that many TGO members are aware of how we are perceived by the public at large. I also respect the rights of those who have a don't care what the world thinks attitude. I know where they are comming from. I feel the same way at times. I personally try to be a good ambassador for gun rights. I sometimes fail. This thread is a good example of David's consistent efforts to better TGO and further gun rights. Thanks, I'll try to behave both here and in face to face interactions. -southernasylum
  23. I'm watching the commercials. So far disappointed. I did enjoy Beyonce though. Oh and Beyonce! -southernasylum
  24. Sure that's not a photo if him taking out Bin Laden? -southernasylum
