  1. Just placed an order for my lower. I was planning on getting the BCG and Upper as well but had an unexpected car repair this morning. This will be my first AR and I will be picking your brains as I collect parts. I'm gonna go with 5.56/.223. Since I can't get the upper right now I'm gonna Frankenstein this together as I learn about/ can afford the components I want.   -southernasylum
  2. My first handgun was an Intratec cat9. Piece of crap with a 40lb trigger. It looked kind of cool in a ugly sort of way but that is all it had going for it. I still feel sorry for the guy I gave it and $50 dollars to for my Taurus pt22 which I love and still have.
  3. Thanks daddyo, I checked out their site and requested a quote. It looks promising.   -southernasylum
  4. My wife and I are remodeling our master bath and are wanting to do glass for one of the shower walls. Does anyone know of a source for glass in reasonable driving distance from Franklin? Seems 3/8 is the minimum for this application. I've done plenty of construction in my youth and feel plenty confident I can handle the install myself if I can just find a source for the glass. Thanks in advance for any info.   -southernasylum
  5. No worries guys, I'm sure hate speech against pro gun groups will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Why I'm sure there's a friendly DHS representative heading that way to inform the gentlemen of our federally protected rights. -southernasylum
  6. My 13 year old daughter just learned to change mine yesterday. I'll never have to do it again! It really is easy and most pads come with lifetime replacent. Mine were mid grade and cost about $50.
  7. Lets see, $1,725 for the printer and $25 for the plastic. $1,750 for an ugly novelty gun? And the government is worried about that? I'll take a Glock and a bunch of ammo over that any day and still have a few bucks left over for snacks. -southernasylum
  8. I agree with Morgan about it being "borderline tyrannical" just not sure we agree which side of that border it falls on. -southernasylum
  9. Oh I'm not naive enough to think it is immune but we've been very unhappy with this particular school's educational value. Heck I know a lot of private schools are full of kids who were kicked out of public school.
  10. Yup, and there's no gangs or crime here either. It's a magical place filled with rainbows and unicorns. All joking aside, I still love living in Franklin. -southernasylum
  11. Just got a call that a kid got arrested with a gun at the 8th grade dance at my daughters middle school. No one was hurt. No more details except that the school resource officer made the arrest. This was at Freedom Middle School. My daughter is in 7th grade and was not there. My wife and I have already been looking at a private school for next year.
  12. Calm down you media folks, no one is trying to take away your free speech! Your first amendment right to recite poetry and sing non-religion specific hymns shall not be infringed! You're just being paranoid! -southernasylum
  13. Just watched it. Even with a short Reacher it was very entertaining.
  14. I enjoy the books. They are pretty light reads and you can pretty much guess the plot early on. Even so they are entertaining. I also don't mind admitting that I enjoy Tom Cruise movies. Having said that if you read the series he is the last person I would think of to portray Reacher. The books make such a big deal about Reacher's size it's almost a character of its own. It's so itegrated into every single chapter of every single book. For this reason my wife and I have waited for the DVD release. We'll give it a try but it's gonna be hard to swallow as a fan of the books. Glad it got decent reviews. At least it won't be a total waste of time. Maybe they used some camera tricks to make him look taller a la Gandolf. -southernasylum
  15. I wish I had 150 guns too but who would I give all the others to to get down to that number? I'm joking of course, I would never give any of them away!
  16. I find this post totally offensive, inappropriate, and hillarious!
  17. I'll have to give Sirius another try. We tried the 3 months free with our newest vehicle (factory system on honda pilot) and the reception was really spotty. On overcast days it was awful and it cut out anytime we passed under an overpass or trees. I love the concept just not the execution. Hope you find a happy solution. -southernasylum
  18. "I have a shotgun..." May be my last words.
  19. I once had a bunch of Deputies show up at my door in the middle of the night looking for a suspect. I refused them entry because my shotgun was in plain view and I didn't want to eat carpet or accidentally get myself shot. They seemed pretty tweaked. But in this situation I would let them in in a heartbeat. I can't help them hunt down this piece of crap but I can help them quickly eliminate one more possible hiding place. I don't see that as giving up my right but as excercising my right to have guests. -southernasylum
  20. Not really how things are handled around here.
  21. A good belt and any of the hybrid holsters should be very comfortable and concealable. Not quite as comfortable as no gun in your waistband but way more comforting!   -southernasylum
  22. Shot my first one today in Owensboro. Man was is fun! I have never shot on the move before. I need lots more practice. Had a few misses and killed one hostage(no shoot) that I didn't like the looks of. All in all I loved it! I'm so slow but I'll definitely do it again. If anyone is considering it, get to it. -southernasylum
  23. I don't know if it'll accept the old style p228/p229 mags but I just recieved 2 more mec-gar flush fitting nickle 15rounders for about $26each plus shipping. I now have 4 total and love them more than the factory 13rd mag that is from sig. They should still have em in stock. -southernasylum
  24. Feinstein alluded that the Heller decision allowed them to regulate "unusual" weapons. How does an AR15 which I have read is the most popular rifle sold fall under "unusual". Would not the fact that its the most popular make it in fact the usually owned rifle? I know logic doesn't apply but I also hate that they are so comfortable saying "none of these rights are absolute". We've come a long way from "We hold these truths to be self evident...", a long way in the wrong direction. -southernasylum
