none in the Memphis area either,I look everytime I go to any stores that sell it.I havent seen 22 in our WalMarts in near a year now.But I refuse to get up early on a day off just to beat the non working sector to the ammo counters.Maybe thats my problem,if I did maybe I could retire on what the scalpers are selling it for.I hope a few get stuck with the stuff and end up eating it in the morning like a bowl of Wheaties with milk.

Never Thought I'd See Wally Not Being Cheapest ...
krunchnik replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Absolutely true-I needed some .40 when I purchased my Witness, got the 100 bulk pak WWB from Academy for $36.00 a box,and no limit.Actually was cheaper than WalMart and they had plenty in stock. -
I broke the rifle down and inspected the trigger mechanism and found alittle bit of dried glue of some kind-sprayed it off-scraped the excess and worked it(dry fired)a few times and seems OK.I feel that its already had several boxes of ammo down range without any complications so I am just gonna shoot the darn thing. The only time I shoot is at my dads place-150 yard range and the rifle is always pointed down range. Can't hurt a real lot if there is a glitch.

One of the fella's at work got his bacon birthday cake from his wife and brought it in for us to try(I did not try)and glad I didn't.I think it was Bacon Devil's Food :yuck:

Thanks for the info-thats axactly what I did, found some extra dried locktite on the back surface of the trigger assembly-just trimmed it and cleaned it off.It looks OK though.everything seems to move and lever correctly.

Is it difficult to check for the excess-I may just do that.

Yup-Decided when I can find a trigger thats what I will do.I really dont want to send it out without knowing when I will get it back.Although the paperwork says (SHOULD)take no longer than 3-4 weeks. The rifle is the varmint model in .308 and I had a smith cut the barrel down from 26 inch to 20 inches,I only shoot it a couple of times a year when I go north and that is relatively soon.Dont want to miss my plinking session due to it being in Remingtons hands for months.
-
Well-I got my shipping box from UPS today so am going to have to decide fairly quick whether its going back or getting a new trigger.

Supply, Demand, Pricing and the future of rimfire shooting
krunchnik replied to graycrait's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I have bought exactly 550 rounds of Federal Champion in the last year and a half, thats all I have been able to find. And then I purchased it from a buddy that sold his 22-and he sold it to me for$30.00. -
Yup,I was thinking of putting in a after market trigger also. The rifle shoots 3/4 inch groups at 100 yards with the trigger group it has now,I would think if there was an issue of the rifle going off when closing the bolt it would have happened by now.I have myself put about 2 boxes of PMC and Hornady down the tube without incident. The fella I got the rifle from I know has at least a box run thru also, and he was the second owner. So,I dont know.Right now Timney is the only one I have looked at-and they are getting scarce.Lots of owners with the same idea. The Remington trigger although has a very nice let off.
-
I have never sent a firearm into a manufacture before so I am having some doubts as too whether or not I should send my Rem 700 in for this goofy recall. The rifle has over 100 rounds thru it with no funny problems or misfires. What would the collective do-inquiring minds would like to know?

You guys are just to funny, actually looks like a baby High point

I have the Bushnell First strike Mini Dot on my Ruger 22/45-in my opinion they work quite well and the physical size is smaller which I like. The only problem is the dot is 5mil which is a little large for long range plinking(I dont worry bout that cause I cant hit the barn when I am inside it anyways)

Academy has Bass Pro prices completely beat on almost every item,In fact they even sell most of their ammo at current WalMart prices,go figure.

Opinions on Winchester WST powder..................
krunchnik replied to a topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Currently have some target loads in .40S&W loaded pretty light.About 3.6 grains under a 140 grain hard cast-they shoot great.I was using Bullseye but the WST seems to be a little cleaner. -

Yup,he was very instrumental on the development of the Keith style lead bullet better known as a semi wad cutter.357,.41 and .44 mag shooters have him to thank in part.

Yup,5 hooded hammerheads robbed a jewelery store in the Wolfchase Mall on Saturday, even got the Mall locked down.people were running around in a panic,so says the news.I can just see the politicians on this one.Gonna have too get a background check before you can purchase a new hammer.Sir,can I see ID before purchasing them there nails.Pulleesse,it just dont get no better than this.

This is exactly what I do,reload .357 brass to lighter .38 special velocity.lots more fun that way.

The member here who was supposed to get the .22 LR from me?
krunchnik replied to a topic in General Chat
Yah,its really making me wonder whats going on with the 22LR.I have never seen it like this. When did reselling ammo without a FFL to make a living become the norm. All of the stores that sell ammo have to pay taxes and I am sure have to have a FFL license.I surely am not in favor of any kind of new regulation on my sport, but somethings got to happen to squelch this activity.Maybe the resellers just need to get a real job.I haven't seen any 22LR on the shelves of any of the WalMarts in the Memphis area in a year.I completely gave up searching. At this point its large caliber range time mostly.
