I just got the "influenza type A" diagnosis myself so it's good you got the shot, as your family wasn't kidding; the flu is definitely making the rounds. I'm glad you were able to keep warm for your chemo. The weight gain is a positive sign, too. It sounds like you are making headway, even if the progress seems slow. Hopefully it'll warm up soon so you can try to get in some walking (per doctors orders.)
  2. Dude joined in Feb 2023. Made ONE post (we're looking at it!) and then wasn't heard from again after March 2023. I'm starting to think he wasn't serious about selling this AR...
  3. Hoping the images they saw turn out to be nothing and you are fine. Prayers for good news in April.

The trip to Freddie's was a "granddaughter service charge" for running your errands. She just KNEW you would understand, ha! Kids. What are you going to do? Least she could have done was bring you back something. Milkshake? Some fries? Something... Good luck staying warm @ your chemotherapy appointment. T-shirt, sweatshirt, coat, and windbreaker might give you enough layers. A stocking cap for your head would help, too. Hoping it all pays off in the end and you beat your cancer.

I'm glad you've been able to find things you can chew enough to eat and swallow so you could get some weight back on. It sounds like the chemo days, and the days that follow, are rough & exhausting. I hope the treatments are working and your tumor is shrinking and going away. Please keep us posted.
  6. She definitely wasn't the brightest bulb on the tree. Glad no one else was hurt. Wait til she gets the repair bill! Pretty sure it's going to be another 'butt-pucker' moment for her.
  7. Here are the final rankings for 2024 College football:
  8. Playoff rankings are posted & Alabama is OUT. So is Miami. SMU is in, as well as 16th ranked Clemson.
  9. That's because 'glock-coma' already blinded you...
  10. And they wonder why people don't watch their network or believe what they report anymore. If they had a single gun guy or gal on staff watching the video, they could have pointed out definitively that it was NOT a veterinary gun used in the shooting. But I hope they never get a "firearms expert" on staff as their conjecture is amusing for the rest of us. How is CNN still a "news" network?
  11. Alabama is not in yet. Still a weekend of football to play. I hope they get in, even though this years team is an enigma. You have no idea which Alabama team will show up on any given Saturday! The best version of 'Bama can win it all. The worst version can't beat Vandy. Football is entertainment. Entertainment can be profitable. But they have to put the best "package" together to draw the most viewers. If the committee has four teams and only one can go into the playoffs, they surely are considering which team will provide the most viewers. Miami? Ole Miss? Alabama? Someone else? After this weekend, we'll see if 'roll tide' still makes the final cut. No matter what the committee decides, there are always unhappy people. I'd just remind them that last year, only FOUR teams got in. Now, three times as many get a chance. If their team didn't make the cut, it's because they weren't good, or entertaining, enough. Maybe next year they'll do 16 teams. It won't matter - someone's still going to be butt hurt & cry "it's not fair!" Welcome to LIFE, The ultimate teacher of 'not fair'.
  12. Unless your Dad put 800 to a 1,000 rounds thru it, the barrel probably still has some life left. But a rebarrel is nice, too, if you just want to explore a new cartridge. If you stick w/the current barrel, Barnes bullets (TSX & TTSX) like a lot of "jump" so even if your leade is a little cooked at this point, they'll likely still shoot well. If you are really itching to rebarrel, the .25-06 Rem is a phenomenal deer killer & you wouldn't have to change anything else besides the barrel. With 120gr Nosler Partitions it can be forced into elk duty. With 85 grain bullets it makes for a very potent coyote rig. With 100gr to 115gr bullets, its a deer slayer you can count on for a lot of DRT moments (dead right there/dropped right there). Having said all that, if Dad has left this earthly plane and you want to respect his choice in cartridge, the .270 Win is still one of the best "do-it-all" cartridges for lower 48 & Hawaii game. Maybe rebarrel to the same cartridge you have already? If not, .280 Rem, .280 AI, .30-06 Spgfld, .338-06 A-Square are also some rebarrel options that will work on the same bolt-face and will feed properly from your BDL magazine.
  13. Bama beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl...not that it matters or anyone cares. But I thought after the ass-kicking Oklahoma gave 'Bama, Auburn would just photo copy the OU game plan & repeat it. Instead, they let Milroe run around and make plays with his legs. I'm happy for 'Bama. But that's it for them this year. Weird seeing them on the outside looking in. College football has been great to watch this year.
  14. Great insight @Darrell Saban left because the NIL money was going to make his life a living hell. He'd accomplished what he set out to achieve and it was time to move on. Any coach that followed him was going to fall short. Why DeBoer bailed on Washington to take a job he couldn't help but be measured as a failure at, surprised me. Time will tell if he can turn things around but 'Bama fans are not going to wait very long before demanding a coaching change. The bar was set so high by Saban, they are spoiled & impatient. They expect a "W" every week. With NIL money bringing some parity, those years of sustained success may be over, regardless of who the coach is.
  15. Good to have you with us @Handsolo!
  16. Great guns! (Sig P239s) Quite accurate w/a soft recoil impulse. Is that the 10 rnd mag? Those are now hard to find and rather expensive when located, which ups the desirability factor of your gun. Consider this a free bump. I love mine...someone will appreciate getting yours. GLWS.
  17. @DraxTheDad Since you already have several AR-15s and a bolt action in 6.5 Creedmoor, I'd point you toward an AR-10/SR-25 in the 6.5 Creedmoor, so you have ammo commonality with something you already own. The Ruger SFAR in 6.5 CM would be the "easy" button. https://www.firearmsnews.com/editorial/ruger-sfar-65creedmoor-news/492569
  18. It's a good looking revolver. Ports should help a bit with recoil. Hopefully it shoots accurately for you. I like to see Colt releasing new products, especially revolvers.
  19. Ole Miss fans are seeing themselves in the playoffs w/their win over Georgia today. I guess they have a 65% chance per the Allstate estimator thing. What is up with Beck this year? He seems like a totally different QB vs last year. Did McConkey make him look that good? 'Bama brought their offense (basically, Milroe) and their defense today making LSU look pedestrian. I didn't expect that but figure a "roll tide, roll!" is in order. Tennessee won relatively easily, as they should have. Pavia - that medical school QB - is suing the NCAA to get more years of eligibility since he's a "big deal" now & can make some NIL money. I guess good luck to him?
  20. Looks like an M-60 machinegun. Weighed 23 and a 1/2 lbs Had to have an assistant gunner who carried the spare barrel & a can of 7.62mm ammo Was told that the average life expectancy of an M-60 gunner was about 8 seconds during a fire-fight. I have no idea how they calculated such a thing.
  21. @Fishwang My first instinct is to say, "Take it to a good gunsmith & ask them to put open sights on the rifle." They'll probably ask a few questions, quote you a price that'll make your eyes bug out a bit, then they'll order and fit the sights to the gun. But...maybe you're fishing for info on how to do it yourself?
  22. Bama looked more bama'ish this weekend. Yay! Hopes are dim though. Never sure which team is showing up on Saturday this season. Being ranked 14th isn't going to get them to the 12 team playoff. I'm hoping they are getting on track and have stopped the bleeding (i.e., solved the random offensive production and non-existent defense.) RTR! Fun seeing Vandy scare the Longhorns, ha!
  23. It doesn't stay put, but i like seeing it there until it flies off under fire. I like your gun safe idea! I'm a single issue voter - whoever is the PRO GUN candidate gets my vote. No other issue matters more. If we can't elect someone who believes in, and follows, the Constitution - what's the point? Glad everyone is getting out to vote.

    Ar 10 build

Great advice given thus far. Stick with DPMS pattern parts. Aero Precision upper & lower would be great choices. Going with .308 Win or 6.5 Creedmoor gets you a 1,000 yard capable gun. Truth be told, your best, and least expensive and least complicated bet, is to just buy a PSA AR-10 with a 20" barrel & get to shooting.
  25. If only there were a way we could vote on new management for the country and put a stop to this nonsense... -------- Early voting is happening now. 5 Nov is your last chance to stop uncontrolled illegal immigration. Please VOTE for the Pro gun, Pro controlled border candidate! (PM me if you don't know who that is since I don't want to get dinged for 'going political'. Thanks.)
