Certainly good advice there. I was taught to carry the flashlight out, away and forward of one's body. Keeps the light away from one's torso & (hopefully) keepsone from getting hit should the perp take a shot at the light. Make much, much more tactical sense than using one on one's pistol, IMO.

Can you say if it's heavier than the Sig 938? Mine is pretty darn stiff, I'd say close to 9-10 lbs. For a carry gun, I can live with that extra bit of safety. A self-defense ND is not my idea of a good time.

I've seen similar things in my life. I too was a Marine & had a close friend hang himself on NYE while on guard duty at Camp LeJuene. I have read that, it's pretty funny looking back on it. Given the design of the very first few tanks, I can understand some of their arguments. But that's more apples to oranges, IMO. A more appropriate argument would be the switch from gas to diesel to gas turbine in a tank, IMO. Urban areas are more conducive to an electric vehicle. Rural areas, not so much. They should make those designers drive around Montana, Wyoming & so forth. See what it's like to be 500 miles away from the nearest city. At least in my truck I can carry a couple of 5 gal gas cans for emergencies.

The Sienna van is a nightmare to work on. Odd, given Toyota's past record of good designs, IMO. I wonder if the shops didn't go higher to scare you off so they wouldn't have to do it? Or, if you agreed, they'd be certain it's worth their while.

Then I must be nuts. Ambi slide release? I'm not left handed, why do I have to pay for that? Ambi safety? I'm not left handed, why do I have to pay for that? Why the take-down lever? I get some people are too blanking stupid to field strip a gun, but the original method worked just fine, had no moving parts and was simplistic in it's design and operation, just as John Browning designed it. That's like touching up the Mona Lisa or adding some scenes to the Sistine Chapel, IMO. I get everyone has their own tastes, that's what drives the gun market, IMO. In this instance I believe someone wanted changes just to say, "Hey, LOOK at ME! I improved the Hi-Power!" Of course, I could be wrong about all of that too. Wouldn't be the first time. He was a former instructor at the po-po academy, not just a patrol officer. I realize everyone has their preferences. I, for example, carry my 1911s in Condition 2, something that sends many 1911 owners into a first class tizzy. Regardless of what method one uses for a light, there's no debate it does offer a point-of-aim to a perp. Hopefully, he'll hold his gat sideways...................

A long, long, long time ago I had a retired cop teach me some things about clearing an area, The second thing he told me (first thing was wear clothes & shoes, i.e. don't go out nekkid!) NEVER have a light on your gun, gives a perp a perfect aiming point in the dark. He said instead, hold a light out AWAY from your body & out in front of your body. That way if it does attract gun fire, it won't hit you in the torso. Everything he told me that day made perfect sense, even now 30 years later. I had a guy argue the light thing one time with me. I asked him if he would wear a yellow reflective vest as well as have his light on? He didn't answer me as I may have made my point with him? LOL!

The original mags were only 13rds. Did they get changed down the road to 15? Beretta 92FS mags were only 15rds when they first hit the US. They needed to compete with the Glock 17, so they had Mec-Gar do a better designed mag for it.

Why are you using the slide release at all? Why not sling-shot it? I carry a VP9SK with 13rd mags. Trigger is just unbelievable on those things. No one, and I mean NO ONE ever owns just one H&K.

I asked a buddy of mine that very same thing. He said it would be an EPA/OSHA nightmare of unimaginable proportions. He has a strong background in mfgr, specifically at an aluminum plant in Waverly decades ago. He thought between the ventilation, drainage of the floor, filtration systems, etc, it'd be millions of dollars before the actual mfg equipment got purchased. That includes the bldg as well, of course. Then there's the limits of getting the actual primer chemicals to make them. There's a reason almost all primer plants are outside the US these days.

Some people counter that a light on a handgun gives a perp a perfect place to aim his shot for. I tend to agree. I also agree with the holster scarceness for a mounted light. And what if you need a light but no longer need a pistol? You willing to shine a light on a small kid who needs help, especially when said light is still attached to the gun? Lots of "uh-oh's" in there, IMO.

While I don't totally disagree with you on the pricing, the 509 series pricing is pretty good, IMO. Take the run of the mill FN .45 & it will shoot rings around any Glock with the factory barrel. Some people (like me) are willing to pay a bit for much better accuracy.

May not be a fair comparison, IMO. The entire back of a truck is pretty light when the bed is empty, i.e. nothing to press down on the rear wheels when there's snow & ice. The Edge has a much closer 50/50 weight distribution than a truck does, which is perhaps why it did better for you?

Were these prices from a dealer or independent shop? Awfully high for the services, IMO. This is a good example of why I buy the factory extended warranty.

Lot less stressful doing that, IMO. I just upgraded my ipad tablet & I know my BP went up 20 points in the 2-3 days it took me to get it squared away. Sales help at the Verizon store was less than worthless, they knew even less than I did.
