Here's something to make everyone feel better, and an homage to Hatmaker's picture posting skills all in one.

We'll definitely keep them in our prayers. It's always heartbreaking to see that despite how connected we are these days, someone can still feel so alone.

My Joker co-worker got a surprise today
MacGyver replied to analog_kidd's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Haven't you heard the rumors boss? Everyone's been talkin about his drug problem. I think he was trying to steal my wallet and I caught him. Only one way to fight rumors in corporate America. A better rumor. -
Good to know. I don't have to look over my shoulder for him at the range. I wouldn't want to be late for dinner when he gets to firing his AK.

In the words of the late Lewis Grizzard, "Brother, I don't believe I'd have told that".

This guy got me worked up. I don't know if it was a joke, a baiting ploy, or if he was just an idiot, but any of those scenarios are disturbing in their own way. +1 on finding out what was really behind door number three. But, good riddance nonetheless.

Anyone with a concern about what they or thir families eat should read Michael Pollan's book The Omnivore's Dilema. It will change your world.

Remember that when you strap on a weapon and walk out the door that you individually represent all of us collectively whether you like it or not. Frankly, I wish we could have it differently, but we can't. The guy I saw in REI the other day in ripped BDU pants, OCing a poorly maintained Desert Eagle and smelling like alcohol from 8 feet away represents us just like I do when I walk out the door concealed. Strickj has it right. You should be the model of civility whether you think it's deserved or not. Otherwise the HCP holder who left without paying is going to make the news, or at least the Tennessean and the Commercial Appeal.

Suppressor for 6.8 with 1/2-36 thread?
MacGyver replied to flyanything's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Alternatively, you could have it rethreaded. The guys down at Hero Gear just threaded my 700 LTR to 5/8-24 and made a sweet thread protector for it as well. A little more expensive, but not much more. Plus, that's one less thing to come loose and cause a baffle strike in a pretty expensive can. -
Congratulations. That's a big accomplishment and one to be proud of.

HCP and a gun shop question???
MacGyver replied to THE COOP's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I was in Guns for America the other day when a customer asked about the store's policy to which Tom replied - "We take the sign on our door seriously. If you aren't carrying in here, you should be." -

Thanks for posting this. I didn't know about it before this, and will try to go out and ride. -
Any thoughts on a suppressed Ruger Mark III?
MacGyver replied to a topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I've got a MK III with a Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite upper and Yankee Hill suppressor. It is a pretty solid platform. If I had it to do over again, I would love an integral like the Gem-Tech Oasis, but couldn't find one that was both user-servicable and available for purchase within say - 18 months. People speak well of the John Norrell units and others, but good luck actually buying one. I think you need a note from Congress or something. User servicability was pretty important to me going in with a .22 unit, and more important now that I've actually got one. With my Yankee Hill Mite, if you haven't lubed your threads with some anti-seize compound you will have significant issues disassembling the can within a couple of hundred shots. The whole setup is a few inches longer than most integral units, but I feel like it will last longer. If you are going to run the MKIII I definitely recommend the Tactical Solutions upper. It really changes the balance of the pistol. It was pretty good to start with, but I have really been impressed with the addition. Not to mention it drops the weight by about half a pound - which is always good when I drop it in my survival kit. I put a pair a Crimson Trace grips on mine. I like them pretty well, but if you've already got a micro-Aimpoint I'd give that a run as well. If you're ever in the Nashville area and want to shoot it, just let me know. -
Walther PPS - 7+1, less than an inch thick and a great shooter. You can also get 6 or 8 round magazines.

Second -OR- None ... A Celebration of Liberty
MacGyver replied to TGO David's topic in Events and Gatherings
David, That logo is great. It needs to go on a TGO T-shirt or coffee cup or something. -
I might rather have the plain stealth version as I think more about it. I may have to go check it out when I'm down there next.

I'll play 1. Hero 1911 - CBOB - may not count towards future purchases since my order is already in 2. Sprinfield Scout Squad - walnut stock 3. Kimber Ultra Covert II 4. Rohrbaugh R9s Stealth Elite 5. A .458 SOCOM upper

Hotshot's mention of the mini chainsaw is a great one. It will rip through a 4 inch log in seconds. In addition to that, though you need a larger fixed blade knife. I always remember what one of my first survival instructors told me - You can always do a small knife job with a big knife, but you can never do a big knife job with a small knife. Your brand and preference may vary. I personally perfer the R5-5 from Jeff Randall at RAT Cutlery.

Welcome, and make it home safe.

A modern Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation such as those that supply beef that goes to McDonalds and practically every other restaurant and grocery store in the U.S. does include beef tallow in the feed mixture that it gives its animals. This fat is in a processed form, but it is certainly a bovine product. This is an email that was fabricated and designed to get people fired up about a boycott. The funny thing is that if the typical consumer had any idea of the assembly line their McDonald's cheeseburger went through to get to the wrapper in their hands, there is no way they would put it in their mouth.

Congratulations. We need more people with your commitment and love of country. Remember, Basic Training is kind of like a game. The faster you figure out their rules and play by them the happier you will be and better you will do. Good luck and godspeed. Semper Fi.

For a slightly different option, I've got Crimson Trace grips on my MKIII. And a Tactical Solutions Pac-Lite upper. With the Volquertsen kit, it's a race dragon that is an absolute blast to shoot.
