    Carry History

Yeah...it was sort of purty. In a weird way. LOL. Thay actually didn't look too bad.
  2. My dog won't even step on the treadmill. Just sits and whines at it if I (rarely anymore) get on it.
  3. Favorite to shoot...Model 19 Smith!

    Budget 1911

Got a mid 70s(?) that shoots great. Don't think you'd go wrong with choosing one.
  5. AGREED! I like to take it out for new shooters. Especially the cocky ones. I'll load it up for them with 158 grain wadcutters and stand back. When they complain...I say let me try it. That's when I drop in the light 38 special and shoot. Turn back and say it seem ok to me.

    Carry History

Short and not so sweet story. First one was a j-frame Smith from my Dad. Bought an HK4. Dumped it and bought a Browning BDA 380. Used it for years. Later tried many smaller semi autos that I didn't keep. Lorcins, Khars( sorry Bill!) Tried a 4'' K-frame for a while. But it was too big for me. Went back to Smith snubbies. Had 637 and the like for a time. Carried a Model 19 snub for a while. Found the Springfield Compact 9 and was in love! Carried it mostly until I discovered the Shield. Been there ever since. There have been some dalliances with G26/27, G43x, Hellcat, and a 365XL. Still have the Sig 365, but I always come back to the Shield. I think we're mated for life.
  7. I actually think it's a still from a late 40s early 50s movie. I have some vague remembrance of seeing this before.
  8. Make that B- Team and I'll agree with you!
  9. Yep. JD you lived up to my feedback post! Well done, Sir!
  10. Closed. Got mags I needed. Thanks to all for looking.
  11. About that time my wife asked me if I needed/wanted any more ammo. LOL! What a jackass I was. Said no...I'm ok with what we got.
  12. Ain't it the truth!!! C'mon admit it...you guys have all done it at one time or another!
  13. Well, three possibilities on mags so far. Waiting on replies from these gentlemen so we can get something started. Anyone local with mags to go?
  14. PM sent.
  15. AD Closed. Thanks for looking guys.
  16. Struggling with my old standard of OWB these days. As OldIron mentioned above, I too have a few extra inches. Been looking to get a Hank's Belt, just haven't gotten to it. Keep saying I'll drop a few inches and then do it. Guess I'll look into these as well. Have never been this large before and I am not liking it at all. For those who might want to know...a 44 waist these days. Blaahh!
  17. Nice start. lol. That Detective is a good looking one.
  18. Thanks guys. I was all set to grab this one...but I found something else!!! It starts with the numbers 4 and 5. I just HAD to buy it! lol.
  19. Guys, ran across this Ruger Charger 22 and got to wondering...can a brace or a stock be fitted to this? Just idle thoughts running thru my cobb-webbed mind. Also, were the Chargers done in a break-down model? Yes, I know I can look it up...but thought I'd give the residents here something to expound upon tonight. I know the 9mm version has this option, but the 22? Thanks.
  20. Watched the show way back then...but I have to say I can't remember the car in it. Wasn't particularly impressed with any of it but David McCallum. The only wone who interested me at all. Robert Vaugh was just horrible back then. As he was throughout his career.
  21. Thanks. Just ordered one myself.
  22. Actually, most of it was over the fact that I'd brought a pretty much brand new gun to the class. And admitted it. lol. I'd probably shot about 200 rounds or less with it, so some of the comments were well deserved. Well...he did use me as the class whipping boy. lol. Since we knew each other a bit, I got to experience the "correct vs incorrect" ways of doing things for the class. I was the demo guy. At least the demo dummy for that class. It was fun though. I brought up all those questions everyone wanted to ask, or should ask, but were afraid to. So I was always up front and being shown as the person being attacked and then showing all the reactions Buford wanted for the class. I didn't mind. I learned more than I thought I would that weekend. Actually did a 2 day course. About 6 hours of classroom, then on to the range for drills and then qualification shooting.
  23. Way, way back in the olden days...I took my carry course with a brand new Sig 40. Got laughed at by the instructor. Buford Tune if you must know. lol! But scored a 99 and Buford asked to shoot my pistol when the class was over. He was a straight up Beretta man and admitted the Sig was "OK".
  24. Agreed on the Khar. Had 2 over the years. Just could not like them. The 40? Well, not crazy about it, but like TripleG, I do have a gun or so with lots of 40 still stashed away.

    1911A1

First off...I love the 1911 platform. Secondly, I'm not the most ardent in cleaning and lubing my guns. I do get lax with it at times. But I have been taught, and re-taught from personal experience that a 1911 must be 1...kept well lubed, and 2 realistically clean. Doesn't have to be spotless, but clean. My biggest problem is lubing, I admit it. But the 1911 likes "wet" not dry. It doesn't have to be dripping, but if you can pick it up and get an oily feel on your hands...the odds are you are keeping it properly. Some will run with less lube, some with more. You have to find which way yours prefers. JMO
