  1. Congratulations on your permit. And may I second the holster purchase. When you buy your xd(?), check out holsters at the same time. Doesn't have to be a real expensive one for your first, but look them over and try them on. Try the fit of your gun. Release and draw pressure Inside waist band, outside waist band, belt slide, try all you can. Please resist the temptation to buy a cheap kydex first. They do have their place but you'll probably put it in a drawer like me. My personal preference is leather after buying cheap ballistic nylon and kydex and having a box of mismatched parts. And if you get the xd, don't think the belt unit supplied with the XD Gear will be perfect for your pistol. Most I've seen are poor to average fit and a pain to draw and reholster from. Anyway, JMHO. Have Fun.
  2. Most of you guys make me feel older than I am, I had a lot of those great old cars. However, my first was the family sedan: a 1962 Ford Galaxy 500 XL, with the 390 Interceptor Police Package. A local Sherrif ordered the car but the county refused to accept it because it had carpet, floor mats, chrome trim, and a radio. My dad found out about it and bought if. A great old car. Like most of us, I'd sure like it back now. I made lots of memories in it.
  3. My wife once worked with the DEDE Wallace Center and had to deal with DHS pretty frequently. Thirty years ago they were a well meaning agency an did a lot of great work, But in this liberal, nothing goes world today, just saying "spanking" or trying to discipline a child in public will bring a world of hurt on you. Something like that picture could bring everyone from DHS to BATFE down on you because someone didn't like the picture. "Why that child is in an intolerable evviroment with all those nasty old assult maching guns lying around for him to get into. He will probably shoot himself playing at best or grow up to think those ''illegal" things are good at worst." We have to be careful in even jokingly posting pictures these days.
  4. Currently using 185 jhp in my SA Operator. The round feeds well, is very accurate and my old wrists really appreciate the slightly lessened recoil on them. I usually practice with WWB 185 and keep Golden Sabre, Speer Gold Dot for hd/pd loads. So far, the little 4" has digested every 45 load run thru it.
  5. Anyone remember the orginal imported under the Jericho name? Some came as a pistol pack with both a 9mm and a 41AE barrel and slide. I think I'd prefer the 45 setup.

    h&k usp 45?

I am personally biased since I own several 1911s and a SA Operator. Love'm all. Especially the Operator. But like previous comments, I think you have as good a pistol, if not better, than the offered trades. And if you're not getting cash as you wanted, and you like the SA 1911, unless you just want a different gun, why trade? Just my opinion.
  7. Who let tha dawgs out? Woof! Woof! Who let tha dawgs out? Woof! Woof!
  8. Have you tried Greene Military In Donelson? I haven't been there in years.
  9. Olds, as others have said, that was a very well written rebuttal to Ms. Berry's comments. However, I'd like to add one point. Ms. Berry states that it's unlikely that gun legislation will be passed soon. So the almost automatic response is to go to "authority" and have someone else decide who should and should not be on campus. Not an exact quote, I'm sorry, but think it's pretty close. It's another example of the trend today to avoid personal responsibility for one's life and actions.
  10. Have used Aguila 22 and benn satisfied. No experience with the 32/380. But I'd recommend the Prvi Partisan fmj in either caliber. Loaded pretty hot. In my 32 keltec, the 71 grain felt really hot. And the 380 thru my Browning BDA was really hot.
  11. Haven't seen Attila--I'll check it out. Thanks. PS, I've been borrowing your Mark Twain signature line in conversations. It's a big hit. But I do give you credit for it.
  12. Congratulations on getting your HCP, especially so quickly. I need to start the Wally World circuit for some reserve ammo myself.
  13. My personal opinion...300 is by far Butler's best movie. Saw Gamer last week and was less than impressed. A poor ripoff of Death Race. And his romantic comedy was pretty weak. I believe he needs a real intese role that holds his acting interests. Hopefully this will be better. Yes I am very opinated on movies. If I like, I really like it. If not--to Quote that great penguin philosopher, Opus---PPHHFFFTTT!
  14. I couldn't narrow it down to one. So here's my favorites: S&W Model 66 Colt Python-4" HiPower SA Loaded Operator CZ 75 Compact

    GOT A NEW TOY

Nice Para, RD. A friend of mine has one and it's a keeper. I'm sure you'll like it.
  16. Go for it! I have owned a Lightweight Loaded Operator for about a year and really like it. Traded for it used and it had been abused a little but cleaned up perfectly. Feeds anything put into it and is very accurate. The only issue I ever had was a weak mag spring. A new one cured that.
  17. Check with John at Eastside Gun Shop. He is doing variety o reloads for 38"'. I"ve been very pleased with the PD rounds and their range ammo.
  18. Good idea on the StackOn cabinets--mov'em out. I'm not downing your choice; I have one of the 45 Gun StackOn Safes. It's a pretty decent safe, especially bolted down and in a concrete walled corner boxed in by metal cabinets bolted to the walls. But If I knew then...as I've since noticed on mine. I probably would have splurged and gotten another brand. I'm not real fond of the door fit on mine, seems like a little wider gap than most. Maybe it's just me being paranoid and worring about humidity and moisture buildup. I wired the safe and have 2 goldenrod dehumidifiers in it. And actually thing of putting a portable dehumidifier in the room with it. We have a running spring real close to the house and I worry about the humidity. But what the hey...it's a good unit. Just would like one of the new Browning safes.
  19. Welcome to Glock World. Have two myself--G22/G30 and getting real fond of both. No experience with the G32, but do have an XD in 357sig and agree that it's quite a potent round.
  20. I Will Not Forget! I Cannot Forget! Some may, I won't. It's burned into my memory as long as I live. Like many others, I cried unashamedly that day and still do seeing those images again. I'm sorry for those that have forgotten. I'm terribly sorry for the lack of respect given to Firefighters in general these days and that those short-lived days of thanks and rememberance for you have ended. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your commitment and service to the community. I thank you as I try to do with others when the opportunity arises.
  21. You're absolutely right. I had to learn the hard way.
  22. You misunderstand, sir. That's the basis of the Liberal Value system: Do as I say, not as I do for me. It's ok for me, not you. I know better than you, let me take care of you. Just give me all your money, you're to ignorant to know how to best spend it. And any other two-faced, self-serving platitude you can come up with.
